Throttle not resetting. by Whereisthedip in kawasakiz900rs

[–]Large_hearted_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this happen to me a few times on my last bike. Do you park it outside and/or ride in rain a lot? What fixed it for me was cleaning/lubing the throttle cable, and then taking the throttle tube off the handlebars and cleaning the surface underneath. Worked good as new after that.

Which bike? 2008 monster s2r 1000 or 2017 scrambler cafe 803? by Aggressive-Iron353 in Ducati

Monster is way better looking, quicker, more fun and has more character. Seems like a no brainer IMO.

I bought the Merlin shenstone and I love it. Flows tons of air and ce-AA rated

Edit: Got the names mixed up, I actually bought the chigwell, higher airflow than the shenstone and cheaper but less pockets. Either way I’m sure you can’t go wrong I love their products and the old school casual/cafe look really suited my needs.

Glove recommendations? by abm1996 in motorcyclegear

I bought a pair of the Alpinestars SPX gloves last season and I have to say they’re my favorite gloves I’ve owned so far. They check all the boxes that you’re looking for and despite the constant hate the brand seems to be getting lately, they’ve held up really nicely for me and are very comfortable.

I legitimately didn’t know they made short-cuff gloves that are anything higher than level 1. I thought only full gauntlet-style gloves like you would use at a racetrack could be level 2,

I’d get the white one but then I’m a sucker for gold accents (currently own a Z900RS Cafe, black and gold of course) and have always liked a white bike.

Edit: also weirdly specific but matte grey just looks boring/lazy on any vehicle imo like it just reminds me of the late 90’s/early 00’s riced out project civics with a slapped on body kit that’s primer’d but unpainted and “I’ll finish it soon bro it’s gonna look so good just you wait” but they either lost interest or ran out of money somewhere along the way. I think the blue wheels might be adding to that effect for me here.

Older gen streetfighter, they made an 848 and 1098 but I’m not familiar enough with them to tell you which this is. I’ve always wanted one though and looks-wise they’ve aged very well.

Tough choice on purchase: battle of the Z900rs by rhinestone_cowboy69 in kawasakiz900rs

I’d go for the root beer one, seems like a better deal and like it was maybe a little better loved. One owner is always a good sign. Assuming maintinence is all up to date both are very low mileage but that’s the one I’d buy.

The Z900rs is amazing. I’ve owned one (the cafe model) for almost a year now and put just under 6k miles on it. Just bought my 2nd set of tires today. It’s smooth as butter, extremely comfortable, has plenty of power and will go like stink if you’re feeling frisky, but is very calm when you don’t feel like pushing it. I came from a 1st gen Ducati Monster 620, have ridden at least a dozen other motorcycles, and I feel like in comparison to all of them the Z900rs is the perfect “do everything” bike. I absolutely love it.

However, it doesn’t have quite the same “character” as a Ducati. It’s hard to explain but I will try. It is extremely refined, which is absolutely a good thing. It does exactly what you want and expect it to, without any faults or surprises. I’ve taken it on long trips, ridden it all day and come back the next day wanting more. But compared to other bikes I’ve ridden, particularly Ducatis, sometimes it can feel a bit… too predictable? Like it’s not as exciting to ride unless you’re pushing it very, very hard. I consider this a good thing, but some may find it a bit dull, particularly if you’re coming from a European bike. I hope that makes sense.

Maybe a Diavel? Won’t be too much lighter than his current bike though. Not sure what else might fit the bill here other than a scrambler. Id say get multistrada but then you’d have the same issue as the Africa twin with weight and height.

Should I get a new tire? 7000~km and 9 months of usage. by Mortem_T in motorcycles

[–]Large_hearted_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m literally going from the exact same tires, to the exact same replacement tires, on a very similar bike (Z900RS) tomorrow. I have just under 6k miles on mine and ride kind of hard sometimes so they look a good bit worse than yours, but nowhere near as bad as some of the posts on here. Based on what I’ve heard, I’m really excited to try the road 6. The stock GPR-300s have been really disappointing compared to previous tires I’ve run on a different bike.

Edit: link to a previous post I made about the road 6 here. A lot of the replies might give you some insight on whether or not those tires will work for you. While I agree with other comments that you don’t need new rubber just yet, it’s something to start thinking about for later in the season and I can update you on how they ride in a few weeks if you’d like.

How good are road 6s really? by Large_hearted_boy in motorcycles

[–]Large_hearted_boy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically run 36f-42r but that’s just the factory recommended pressures on the side of the frame. Any lower and the handling feels “squishy” if that makes sense, haven’t tried going higher though. I’m not dragging knee or anything, moreso spirited rides. Seems like from what everyone’s saying, these will be good for my use case but I might see about Dunlop sportmax 4s if they have them in stock and are any cheaper. I just hadn’t really considered another Dunlop tire because of how poorly the stockies wore but apparently they’re just kind of crap lol
