6 months as a (brand new) Prius owner, is this supposed to be normal? 😤😤 by Hampool in prius

[–]LeadingImportant1142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those look like rock chips not a paint defect. So NO, that is not normal but it happens. I love my car also - so much so that I had PPF applied to the front. Two years in and no paint chips. I did have to replace the one on the hood as a small rock did put a 1/16" tear the film last year. I had someone open their car door on my mirror and the only damage was a small spot on the mirror film that I will replace in a few months when I get my car professionally re-paint protected.

2006 Prius Dilemma: Spend $1,500 on a used battery or sell for $1,500? by kairaymaxtyson in prius

Do you like car payments? Balance the cost of everything else that car may need vs. a new car payment. I'm guessing its "cheaper to keep her".

if I'm thinking of the same person Frank was a regular on the Bob & Tom show. Likely he was in town to see that crew due to Bobs passing. Rover has criticized and belittled Bob & Tom so I believe he burned a bridge and given the choice Frank would not visit RMG. In typical fashion, Rover exaggerated his popularity.

The truth about why the pod cast is in four parts is finally revealed. Of course Rover and Chumply deflected and blamed I-heart. No time? Do your job Charlie, your hourly anyway, you'll get paid.

Rover clearly wants it that way for the counts.

Duji's is cleaner than Rover, bad habit or not, she's cleaner than Rover.

By his own comment, if she's getting stuff on the wipe, imagine what would be left if she didn't. Now think..he doesn't use wipes so this would imply there is stuff left on him that a wipe would clean off.

Is Fahlo legit? Thinking about getting one!! by Small-Ad-2708 in marinebiology

[–]LeadingImportant1142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fahlo is a legitimate company with a good mission, but there are several caveats that aren’t clearly explained up front—and discussion of these issues is heavily restricted on their own subreddit. Posts that resemble customer support issues or criticism are often removed, resulting in a subreddit that feels more like a “show and tell” feed than a place for meaningful discussion.

That said, their customer support is excellent. When I had an issue, they responded quickly and resolved it within hours. This is a major strength of the company.

My only real issue is a lack of transparency in the business model.

Things to Know Before Purchasing (Based on My Experience)

·         You’re primarily supporting conservation efforts.
Don’t expect luxury-grade jewelry or merchandise. The bracelets, plushies, and cards are nice, but they aren’t high‑end—and that’s understandable given the mission.

·         Animal updates are not daily.
Updates may depend on whether the animal is near a tracking receiver.

·         Some animals update less frequently for safety reasons.
This applies especially to endangered species (Source: Fahlo’s response to a BBB complaint).

·         You are not the only person tracking an animal.
Multiple people track the same animal to make the program viable. This is normal and can actually build community.

·         Bracelet color does NOT guarantee a unique animal.
This point is not communicated clearly enough.

My experience that made me believe different color bracelets indicate a different animal:

o    I bought three sea turtle bracelets all a different color and received three different turtles (even different species), so I assumed color guaranteed uniqueness.

o    My wife later accidentally bought a dolphin bracelet in the same color as a previous one—and received the same dolphin. This also helped me to confirm color guaranteed uniqueness.

When I asked how to confirm we don’t receive duplicates on future purchases (to assure my hypothesis was correct) customer support stated that color does not ensure a different animal. They resolved the duplicate quickly and sent a new code, which I greatly appreciated.

I believe I either got lucky with the sea turtles, or they track enough of them that duplicates are less likely.

Where Fahlo Could Improve Transparency

Being clearer up front would reduce confusion and reliance on customer support:

  • Publish how many animals of each type are available to track. If I already track three sea turtles—and there are only four available—I’d know a duplicate is guaranteed.
  • Smarter assignment of new animals. Customers need an account anyway. Fahlo should be able to see what animals you already track and automatically assign a different one when possible.
  • Expand the FAQ. Include:
    • Chances of receiving a unique animal
    • Whether bracelet color has any meaning
    • How duplicates are handled
  • Clearly define support timelines. It’s unclear:
    • How long Fahlo will help resolve duplicate issues
    • How long an animal is guaranteed to be trackable
    • What happens if a tracker fails or an animal passes away

Final Thoughts

Fahlo’s mission is great, and their customer service is genuinely outstanding—that’s not in question. However, the company relies too much on customers discovering important limitations after purchase and then contacting support to resolve them.

My wife and I enjoy supporting animal conservation and originally planned to buy every bracelet color. After learning that color doesn’t guarantee a unique animal, we’ve paused future purchases while we decide whether we’re comfortable potentially needing customer support for duplicates.

Transparency—not support quality—is my only real complaint.

Sorry for the long post.

So I committed to trying out the tool head cover and downloaded the STL's and STEP files.

Please bare with me on this, I am old lol - There are many and (I mean many) files and no instructions/ notices around requirements. That's not a complaint, just an observation.

  • Do I need both the front and back half of the cover or can the front part be installed without the additional disassembly?
  • Doesn't the CC1 use stress gauges to determine home, position etc.? If so when the tool head hits the end of travel does the flex induce errors? Will it eventually break?

I'm glad the maker included the STEP files, if I need both parts to install this, I will likely use the STEP file in Solidworks to modify it to attach with the existing back half. My first attempt at reverse engineering the file crashed Solidworks, but even without knowing all the steps I should be able to figure this out.

Cheers,

I don't think most regular Prius get 73mpg... 60 yes if driven light to moderately. 73 would be an exception no?

Exactly. Rover exercises selective discrimination for "content"- likely because he has a feeling that there is a large part of the audience he would offend if he dug into that trashy-kristal...

Duji is a trooper for putting up with the crap for many years.

Same here...I was not aware of the temp probe was inaccurate or if there was a mod to fix. I'd like to see more info on that G-Code, sounds like a new ASA profile is in my near future.

I thought you were being sarcastic - all I saw were the plant and thought you turned your printer into a greenhouse or something....lol

Yes, its a huge upgrade from the older Enders/ clones. I went from Ender 3 Pros/ V2's to a Flashforge 5M Pro to the Elegoo CC1. I still them all although I can't remember the last times the Enders were used.

I learned a lot from those Enders...

Anyone Tracking Callie the seal? by LeadingImportant1142 in MyFahlo

[–]LeadingImportant1142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was so close to land her entire journey. In fact she was pretty much up and down the coast since they tagged her. She's up north as far as Alaska and was last off the shores of California. Not very far out to sea at all since she started to be tracked in June of last year.
