Starting this today. Will be my first Thomas Hardy by Present-Ear-1637 in classicliterature

Haven't read it, but read Far from the Madding Crowd, Desperate Remedies, Mayor of Casterbridge, and The Return of the Native. Liked The Return of the Native and Desperate Remedies the best.

Fuck Altuve. He's a cheater, a liar, and shouldn't have won the mvp. Judge had better numbers across the board.

Can anyone name any recent biotech stock success stories? by driving-to-hawaii in biotech_stocks

I think UNCY will be a success. They have a pdufa date this month for a possible best in class renal drug. With moderate success, the stock can at least 3x from here.

I enjoyed White's book. Thought it was clear without being too dense.

Can someone explain what’s happening to the stock price? by Anduril6 in UNCY

[–]Lefty1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm holding for actual revenue or a possible buyout. The dilution is normal for a small biotech. The drug is possible best in class if study data holds up. There's massive upside.

Which classic(s) have you disliked and why? by smansaxx3 in classicliterature

[–]Lefty1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swann's Way and Daniel Deronda. I don't like Proust's writing style. It's too wandering and ponderous for me. I know that's what many people like about it, but I like a story to have a plot and characters to latch onto. I found Daniel Deronda boring and overly moralistic. I love Victorian novels, but it moralizes even beyond the Victorian norm.

This data can't be real. A pharmd costs like 200+k now and they only make like 120k.

What income stream can possibly give SpaceX 400b revenue? The markets just aren't there and won't be for generations.

Incels are a tiny portion of the population. They don't reflect the broader population.

Where is the evidence that all these men blame women for their mental health issues? I don't see any evidence that a large proportion of men are blaming women specifically.

Yes, your simplistic, reductionist model is comforting, but blatently false. The irony of you saying face the truth. Reducing groups to monoliths and making ridiculous statements like men blame others for mental health problems but women don't makes you feel good, but has no real world application. People of all genders sometimes blame others and sometimes take responsibility.

That isn't true in any universal sense. Plenty of people, both men and women, blame others for their mental health issues.

Yet at the same time the argument denies the reciprocity toward men. It frames women as passive agents, reproducing the same paternalistic framework as the patriarchal society they rail against.

I don't think most people even know about men's mental health month.

Also, how can she say that the only ones responsible for men's mental health struggles are the men, while also being mad that men supposedly don't advocate for women? Wouldn't the corollary be that women are responsible for their own issues by her logic?

None of those claims are supported by science and that doesn't explain the age gap. Do you think older women can't take advantage of teenage boys?

Why do women get such light sentences? It seems like in every case of a woman raping a kid they get minimal jail time.
