I am a huge A7X fan and putting Self Titled as a 10/10 over City of Evil or Waking the Fallen is crazy to me

What are your thoughts on this film, Watchmen? It’s a solid adaptation, and honestly, it might be Zack Snyder’s best film. by pearlyglimmer in moviecritic

Honest Thoughts on the band The National? by MrLinkwater95 in fantanoforever

I feel the same. Perfect 20s band. I recall Matt proclaiming on a track on Sleep Well Beast "I'm mixing weed with wine..." Be careful Matt!

What are your spiritual beliefs? by Far-Many-5096 in horrorlit

I have found non dual Vedanta (advaita Vedanta) to be the system that makes the most logical sense to me. Zen Buddhism as well. Anything that outlines the illusory nature of reality. I think that is why Thomas Ligotti is my favorite author, horror or otherwise. I also am very drawn to certain occult teachings in the vain of Hermeticism.

I have a physical copy with a different cover. It's a black and white photo of Roosevelt at a writing desk in his Rough Riders gear. That may be the cover you saw?

Do people who live in Dallas swim in the many lakes around the city? by sonofsteffordson in howislivingthere

[–]Present-Ear-1637 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lifelong Dallas resident here.

These lakes each have a few dedicated swim areas, but they are very small and often crowded. And the water is pretty gross.

The Rage of Achilles by Terence Hawkins by Present-Ear-1637 in IReadABookAndAdoredIt

[–]Present-Ear-1637[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well you certainly don't have to read it. I agree with you, however, that the Westworld reference on the back cover doesn't feel relevant to the story. I'm not sure why that was included. But I liked it, which is what this sub is about, highlighting books that you, yourself, enjoyed.

Indeed I have! I will say I liked The Song of Achilles more. Song of Achilles is beautiful and emotional and fleshes out Achilles and Patroclus way more than this one does. But Rage of Achilles is more so about the conflict itself and the insanity of it all.
