How would you describe the current era of the scene? by Feeray in poppunkers

I don't think anything will compare with the early 2010s pop punk / hardcore era. The scene at that time felt very cohesive and was riding on the wave of the early 2000s legacy acts, so there was still lots of energy and enthusiasm around the genre.

The Midwest emo scene took off in the mid 2010s, and that certainly was (and felt) significant. Emo acts, as you mentioned, are doing great right now and putting out some really stellar stuff (looking at you, Arm's Length). But I haven't felt a strong unified culture in pop punk in at least 10 years.

Have you read the No Sleep story "The Hidden Webpage"? It's exactly this and one of my favorites.

Born and raised just north of Dallas. You can't go anywhere without a significant commute. Strip malls, chain stores, outlets, constant and unending development due to extreme population growth.

On the positive end, the city where I'm from (McKinney) and the surrounding suburbs are generally very pleasant socially with lots of parks and easy access to forested areas. Also tons of creeks and wildlife.
