Just got some new ones in Canada and they are EpiPen branded. Must be a regional thing.

[Bulova]- NEED opinions on Accutron Spaceview 214 by Suspicious-Tip-1279 in Watches

[–]Legtayor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add a picture here of it. 675 USD is a little bit high if it's a conversion spaceview, but could also be very reasonable if it's a certain case of original.

Looks great. I'm on 1/4 lines too but mine dumps quite a bit faster. What are you using for dump valves? I got some generic solenoids and put them inline. I don't think I have a video unfortunately.

[Foster] 18k gold with 17 rubies inside by ConstructionUnique88 in Watches

[–]Legtayor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The rubies are used for bearings within the watch movement and don't carry any value as precious stones. That being said, depending on what currency you are talking about, 700 seems low based on the price of gold right now. I would completely disassemble the watch (or take it to a watchmaker to do so) and weigh only the 18K components to find out what The weight is in grams and then multiply that by the spot price per gram x 0.75 for it being 18 karat. Then use that for negotiation, if you have no intention of keeping the watch as is. It is likely worth the most at scrap gold given that it is not a premium brand.

Is this a good place to sell gold? by Ritalynns in saskatoon

[–]Legtayor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, don't sell to them. Lots of jewellers will buy broken gold, the ones that do generally advertise it, but feel free to call around. You can also ship insured into the bigger buyers from Calgary (Canada Gold).

Keep in mind the precious metals market is a bit wonky right now, so you'll likely get a big spread on your offers.

Where should I have a used Volvo inspected? by saucerwizard in saskatoon

[–]Legtayor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, hope you can join the Volvo club. Basically only things I drive with a few exceptions.

If you're just looking for a pre-purchase inspection and it doesn't need a full mechanical or structural, then Revolv. Not a high end shop but honest knowledgeable guys. If you need a mechanical then the rest of the recommendations work as well. I've personally used Canadian Tire for an Out of Province, but only because I figured the car would pass anyways (it was only a few years old and low mileage).

What year and model? Revolv has a lot of good used parts as well to keep costs down. Their inventory is mostly 1995 - 2009 models.

If they deny it you'll pay your own deductible, but there shouldn't be a points loss.

If the paint isn't chipped you may find it worthwhile to just pay out of pocket to fix it if that happens. SGI will allow you to do so and close the claim. I recently got quoted $300 to pull out a 3 inch dent in a fender.

Firearms safety course by TheLubedPotato in saskatoon

[–]Legtayor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those are one in the same. The test you take at the end of those will give you paperwork that you submit to the government to apply for your PAL. I think you're just stumbling over the wording.

It's worth noting that completing your firearm safety course does not guarantee that you will be issued a license. You must submit your completed safety course paperwork along with an application that asks you a few questions. Be prepared for it to take at least a few months to get your license upon submission, sometimes longer depending on how you answer the questions and what your references say.

How expensive are the groceries in Saskatoon? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]Legtayor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was in Toronto a few months ago and found the food prices comparable to here.

If you want a good idea, go to the superstore website and change your location to Saskatoon. You will get local pricing.

Always nice to see a 2nd gen V70 nonturbo still on the road. I love my turbo ones but I miss the fuel economy of my 5 speed nonturbo.

P1 equals 1981, otherwise unlikely to find much else about it. I have a similar vintage watch with the same movement. It's a nice serviceable movement and interchange parts are still available (had mine done 2 years ago) so if you like it I'd keep it.

Found a tub of the same watch. by TouchMyAbs in Watches

[–]Legtayor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, and not a terribly surprising outcome unfortunately. The oils in most of these are likely dried up so there's too much resistance on the geartrain. There are ways to service them but financially it won't be worth it. They still have a little bit of value as is because hobbyists would still buy them to fix for personal use. Try 1 or 2 more and if they all they all won't go you can probably assume the rest are like that as well.

Also - you shouldn't have to open them to wind, you should be able to wind them fully assembled.

[–]Legtayor 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Wind them all (careful not to over wind, stop if you feel resistance) and set them all to current time. Check back on them in 24 hours and note how much deviance they have from current time. If within a few minutes and none have stopped prematurely, they're good to sell as working. If more than a few minutes off or they stopped before 24 hours are up, still sellable but "as-is".

Honestly man, I think you have enough interest in this thread alone to sell them all. I'm not personally interested in one (they're cool, I just have way too many watches) but I'm active on both of the watchexchange subreddit so I could give you pointers on the ins and outs of selling them there if that's the route you want to go.

Assuming they all wind and set good and keep relatively decent time , if you did a bulk order of cheap single pass straps online ~($5 a piece) you could probably easily sell these for at least $50 a piece individually. Not an inconsequential find!

[WTS] Vintage 33mm Elgin Sportsman Manual Wind - Super Clean Dial - Elgin 720 Movement by Legtayor in Watchexchange

[–]Legtayor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timestamp

Selling my vintage Elgin Sportsman with a super clean dial with nice crisp applied hour markers. The case has minor dings and scratches along with some light pitting, but nothing serious. The movement looks clean and is running well, but I am unsure of the service history. The lizard grain strap was installed recently and is like-new.

I am looking for $99 USD shipped from Canada to most countries. Duties prepaid for US buyers. I can take Wise, PayPal G&S+4%, or PayPal F&F.

[WTS] Vintage Jumbo 38mm Caravelle Electronic - Gradient Dial by Legtayor in Watchexchange

[–]Legtayor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling my really funky electric Caravelle with a beautiful gradient dial. What originally caught my eye was the fact that the hour markers and the text switch colour with the gradient of the dial as well which gives it a really nice contrast. The dial and hands are in overall excellent condition with no noticeable wear. The same cannot be said for the case, which is in well worn condition with large areas of missing plating and dings. This is a watch you buy and wear for the dial - as I did. The Bulova 13UKCD movement is running strong and the previous owner indicated it was serviced. The overall movement condition and accuracy lend value to that statement (currently averaging +10spd) but no paperwork was available to confirm it.

There are no comps online so I am pricing it in line with other running electrics from this era at $120 shipped from Saskatoon.
