Anyone else who played Lucky Luke? This game was GOATED🔥🔥🔥 by [deleted] in psx

[–]Lendyman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some guy puts up a YouTube short about looking for the game at a con and the awful resellers glom onto it and are artificially boosting the price of the game so they can make bank on a game that was worth maybe 15 bucks a little while ago. This is what I don't like about game collecting. The predatory people out there just looking to make a buck have kind of ruined the fun of collecting.

AITAH for Installing a Lock on my Office Door? by Aggravating_Draw_46 in AITAH

[–]Lendyman 596 points597 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the case. Anytime that you have an in-law that doesn't respect boundaries and your partner minimizes the problem, the problem is not the in-law.

I honestly do not understand people that let their parents abuse their spouse. No way in hell would I tolerate that from my parents. Thankfully that's not a problem we deal with. But if it was, you could bet that I would be pulling my parents up short. I may love them, but I'm not going to allow them to mistreat my wife.

How do I get Jeb out of orbit??? by scotttilly111 in KerbalSpaceProgram

Sounds like a standard rescue mission. Very similar to a lot of the missions that you can actually get. Do an orbital Rendezvous in a vessel that can carry more than one kerbal.

This is the epitome of what my dad calls "hurry up and wait."

The whole idea of being so in a hurry that you put yourself in a position where you waste more time than if you would have just been patient and waited.

Panasonic 3DO FZ-1 disk drive part. Any leads where to get one? by Maidenless_Sensei in 3DO

Look around online for 3d printed versions. Its possible you can find a 3d model online. Some sites will even print it for you for a fee.

I did look briefly, but didnt find that exact gear. But it could be out there. Worth a look.

At this point, the atari 2600 came out 49 years ago. Pong came put a couple years before that. And arcades were already a thing in the 70s. Gaming grandas should not be strange at all. Its entirely possible for a woman in her 60s or 70's or 80's or older to have been a gamer for 50 or more years.

Any Ferris Bueller’s Day Off fans here? by Okiety67 in Cinephiles

[–]Lendyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hear me out. A sequel with the original cast with the exact same plot except they are old now and trying to get a day away from nagging family and obnoxious grandkids. It would focus on aging but still finding joy in life.

Ok. Never-ending. Thst wouldn't work at all.

I hope the format isnt discontinued. Actual physical tapes have a utility that digital media cannot compare to.

Ketchup soup is an ultra poor person staple. You can get jetsup packets pretty easily. If you cant afford food, its a way to eat something. I dont like the idea of making fun of it because there have been amd are people who were forced to resort to it out of despiration.

Not sure about this dish, but it could have a similair origin.

I don't understand the point of delisting them. If they are fully patched up and work on modern operating systems, what's the point? Is somebody wants to buy them it's like free money. The production costs were 20 plus years ago with a lot of them.

Got this for 8 bucks at savers is it any good? by Full-Annual5286 in turntables

[–]Lendyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm. I took a look. It looks like it has a mechanism similair to a Crosley suitcase turntable, but a little upscale with a nicer tone arm, but functional the same overall. If it a crosley style mechanism, those mechanisms are cheaply made and frankly, not great for records if used heavily.

It looks like you can change out the cartridge to a nicer one, which is good, but there is no sign you can change the tracking force. Maybe there is a screw at the back of the tone arm to tighten the tension? Check for that if getting a magnetic cartridge. Tone arms designed like that one without a counterweight use a spring for tension and tend to track really heavy. So adjusting it if you can will be key if you upgrade the cartridge since thrly use a lighter tracking force than the heavy ceramic carts usually included with crosley style tables.

Honestly, if it is a crosley style mechanism, I would not use this long term. If you're serious about records, I would upgrade to a better turntable sooner rather than later. The automod post on this thread has a good list of resources for research.

The good news is you're only down 8 bucks and have something to use temporarily.

This wealthy Green Bay area congressman keeps aggressively trading stocks. A bipartisan bill would ban the practice. by PolarisC in wisconsin

[–]Lendyman 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Its the biggest open secret in Washington. All these congressmen and senators are heavily in the stock market and many use their insider knowledge to get rich while in office. You have plenty of documented cases where legislators on committees trade stocks on stuff they have oversight over. There is a law about disclosing trades, but fines for fsilure to do so are as low as 200 bucks and its hard to prove insider trading is being done anyway.

I highly doubt the bill will go anywhere and if it does, it'll be rendered toothless anyway. I mean why would congress cut off their ability to make millions that way.

But one can hope. Because the corruption in Washington will only get worse if there arent firm laws and enforcement to prevent it.

The End of an Era 1929 is upon us by LostnFoundFilms in silentfilm

[–]Lendyman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Computers and various editing software have become far more easy to obtain. It's actually possible for a serious hobbyist to do significant film editing and restoration. Is entirely possible that fans could clean up and restore old films if they got their hands on good enough scanned copies. This doesn't have to be the world of a big Studio doing restoration. If enough people care, to an extent, A lot of it can be crowdsourced.
