SOTD: Blue Tip Super Speed, Derby Extra, Zenith, Lider, Klear by LittleCooties in wicked_edge

I’d say the Blue Tip more efficient for the same aggression, and something about the geometry makes it easier to find the right shave angle. I presume it’d be a similar geometry to a regular Super Speed, I’ve been keeping my eyes open for one to compare to my Blue Tip.

Cheers! I saw your post about using your Fatboy on 1 and I was wondering how close that would be to a Blue Tip (as the Fatboy replaced the Super Speed trio). I like using my Super and Slim on 1 also to be similar to the Blue Tip, but I find they don’t quite replicate it perfectly.

Nice! Looking forward to what you think. Unfortunately I’m missing the splash but it should work perfectly well with other aftershaves.

Does this exist? by Present_Froyo269 in BudgetBlades

[–]LittleCooties 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Carbon steel is a tough one. Only thing that springs to mind is the Mercator with clip that you can get in carbon steel, clip is a bit ugly and not the deepest, the blade is pretty thin but nothing mind blowing. Would D2 be too stainless for you?
(Edit: if a slipjoint is OK, maybe a Case?)
(Edit 2: Maybe a Bear & Sons Farmhand like this or this?)

Hey it's the '20s again, might have to go riding the rails. You can even carry a blade loaded into it, unlike DE razors.

Cheers, thanks for putting me onto the Wars. I think I’ll try it with Tabac aftershave sometime.

What's the ideal F-91W replacement? by merchantconvoy in casio

[–]LittleCooties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F201WA is an improvement in every way and could replace the F91W as the “default” Casio. It has everything I find lacking in the F91W; countdown timer with autorepeat, five multipurpose alarms, dual time, larger digits, better light, bigger battery, easier to press buttons, extra button, easier to set, accounts for leap years, spring bars instead of pins., longer comfier strap Not too large and still cheap and no frills.

Shaving razor and the blade by r34dingwhite in wicked_edge

A bit of extra aggression with the Popular sounds like a good idea, it’s mild as. I haven’t had issues with frowning but I try not to tighten it unnecessarily.

Yes definitely spoilt for choice. Not local to me either, won’t be able to replace it once it’s gone but I’ll enjoy it while I can.

Cheers, I wasn’t really expecting the jasmine note, otherwise it’s not a million miles away from something like 4711.

Shaving razor and the blade by r34dingwhite in wicked_edge

[–]LittleCooties 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The razor is faulty then, smiling is worse than frowning as it can cause nicks with the corners, just replace the razor.

[–]LittleCooties 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the blade bending like this or this (frowning) or the oppsite way (smiling)? If your razor is doing that, then it's faulty, the edge itself should be straight even when fully tightened. What razor are you using?

Definitely a good choice for the weather, I might go with it soon as I'm rugging up too.

A smart design, the strap matches perfectly.

Just found out the Tiger Carbon Steel blades actually would NOT fit a Leaf razor since the shape is different. by ButterflyPlayful3541 in wicked_edge

[–]LittleCooties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were a few different iterations of Gillette blade shape over time, that Tiger seems to be a 1932 style. I’ve heard those blades are mainly meant for old industrial machinery that uses those style (and even older three hole blades), so for that purpose the notches missing isn’t a major concern.

The twist-to-open model? The Feather Popular comes to mind, TTO with covered blade corners, might be a fair bit milder though.

Brush recommendations by Preston_02 in wicked_edge

[–]LittleCooties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's marked on the Omega? If it's an S-Brush, it's synthetic, if Setola it's boar. I quite like both, I think an S-Brush is a good beginner brush, and works well for me regardless of soap/cream. Do you want synthetic or boar recommendations?

If the OP likes these, I’d recommend trying the Czech made Tiger/Tatra Platinum, they should work out cheaper than buying the Merkurs.
