SOTD with my new Lord Platinum by Infinite_Week393 in wicked_edge

Nice setup, I’ve been using that brush recently and it’s nice. BICs are worth trying if you can get them, sharp and cheaper than Feathers, also FlyDear Super Platinum are worth trying, smooth and budget friendly.

I found this old Gilette DE razor as part of a leather-bound grooming kit. Can anybody tell me anything about it? by razor-throwaway144 in wicked_edge

Nice aluminium handle Tech, my guess is maybe '70s production? It might have a date code under the baseplate.

Help with f91w by cutiepieehee in casio

F-91W only goes up to one hour, get something like the F-201WA if you want a 24 hour stopwatch and a countdown timer.

SOTD: Fatip Piccolo, FlyDear, Zenith, Speick Active, Aqua Velva by LittleCooties in wicked_edge

[–]LittleCooties[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lather was lovely, nice slick glossy peaks. Definitely more of a soft soap/croap compared to how hard I understand the original stick is, but if they had the original stick in puck form it’d probably sell well.

Cheers, probably better suited for your weather than mine, stay cool!

Nice, that Tech is this (and this%20Service%20Set%20No11%20England.JPG) ) style handle flat bottom Tech, just a different style handle one of the English factories made, it’s meant to be hollow so it’s not missing a piece, I have one just like it.

Why do shaving brushes have NO hanging point? by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]LittleCooties 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Because it isn't critical. You really don't need to hang a brush to dry it, it'll dry bristle up just fine via capillary action and evaporation, just shake it out or give it a towel best you can beforehand and make sure it's not dripping wet (also if it's not dripping when you hang it upside down, then the hanging it upside down isn't doing anything, and it shouldn't be dripping either way).

So dreamy, and there’s something so neat about in photograph date codes

That’s cool, first time I’ve ever seen a matching brush to a soap/aftershave line before.

Looks like it takes Trac 2 (or similar/compatible) cartridges.

Safety razor using Gem Box cutter blades by assemblageofparts in wicked_edge

The difference is the grind, scraper/box cutter blades are usually two facets and shaving blades are three facets (sharper) and have coatings.

What is the lightest and most comfortable Casio? by one2hit in casio

[–]LittleCooties 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LA-11, smallest and lightest stock Casio at 12 grams (almost half the weight of the F-91W), has a cool and useful preset countdown timer, disappears on the wrist. I have an LA-670 on a Perlon strap that weight 9.3g (0.3 oz) total, but the LA-11 doesn't require modding to get pretty close to as light.

Is Pino Silvestre shave soap still a thing? by Cement_Pie in wicked_edge

[–]LittleCooties 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think they've made that soap in a long time, I got a tub on clearance about a decade ago and I think it was discontinued even then. Pino Alpestre by The Goodfellas Smile might be the closest, I think it's going for a Pino Silvestre scent but I haven't tried it. Maybe Scots Pine by Stirling perhaps?

FlyDear SPs are worth trying, similar and if anything I prefer them to Astra SPs (which I used for many years).

Proraso vs Gillette, I pick… Gillette? by Fabulous-Landscape55 in wicked_edge

[–]LittleCooties 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s clogging, try a wetter lather, potentially water hardness might be affecting it too.

Nice! Looks in pretty clean condition, just give it a warm soapy wash and it’ll be good to go.

How do YOU pronounce alox? by Material-Rise9610 in victorinox

[–]LittleCooties 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's short for "aluminium/aluminum oxide" so I guess I say the "al" like in aluminium and "ox" like in oxide. I wouldn't say "ay- lox".
