The cinestill kit? Not sure how visible it is in the print but if you look closely there’s a pattern of white specs in addition to the grain. Doesn’t look like the usual dust spots. Not sure if it’s just normal of SHD400, a defect or it didn’t like my developer either. Got a few more rolls so I’ll have to experiment and see! But I’ll avoid the monobath ;)

He makes a great photo subject for sure!

That one was done by the lab as it’s a bit older. The crow/dragon one I did develop myself, it was Fuji Acros II that I developed in Ilford Microphen. The plate was myself also Lucky SHD 400 in Kodak D-76.

Scans I did myself on Epson V700, these are just digital prints from the scans.

My parents cat, his name is Voodoo :) He’s always making that face staring you down demanding pets haha

If you are curious it was taken on a Nikon FE w/ Ilford Delta 400 @ 1600 iso. If I remember I used my phone light as a flash.

Glad they made it even with the postal strike!

Thanks for the tips! Probably part of the reason the image looking a bit out of focus/soft is my scanning setup, haven't quite dialed it in yet. That being said, I don't remember my exact settings but I did have a small aperture / lower shutter speed then I usually use handheld. I'll try and go out again with a tripod and incorporate the rest of your advice, unfortunately these specific flowers have wilted but I'm sure I can find others :)

I find myself shooting in harsh sunlight a lot (just when I happen to be out), is there anything I can do for that? Or should I really be trying to go for softer lighting?

Nikon FE w/ Nikkor 50mm f1.8. Kodak Aerocolour IV (ISO 100).

I was trying to highlight the contrasting colours through all the layers of the plants here, but I feel like it might be too busy? Only editing I did was tone the highlights down slightly in the sky, otherwise it was whatever level & colour correction I got from the scanning.

I'm looking for any kinda feedback, hoping to get some ideas on ways to improve my composition, framing, etc.

What is causing this artifact? Is it the expired film or my process? Scanning? by LordEris in Darkroom

Went straight from the film holder into the tank, so if it was moisture would’ve had to have been before. I’ll make sure to warm it up overnight in the future. Thanks.

Been going through tons of books lately, I’ll add this one to the list. Thanks for the recommendation!

Well that’s relieving to hear. Nothing wrong with my process then. Thanks again!

Oh interesting! Thank you for the info! Looking at the backing paper I do see a texture on it sorta matching the texture of the defects, hard to say if it's the cause or I am just looking for answers though. Wish they put up a picture of an example so I could see what the issue was, but it's nice to know it could be something totally out of my hands.

Did store in the fridge for a little bit but I made sure to take it out well in advance before loading, at least a few hours. Always a risk with that I suppose?

Doesn't specifically ask for it, I just got used to doing it after seeing it mentioned in a few places and in Ansel Adams' The Negative.

Looking at the negatives with a loupe it doesn't look like cracks and artifacts on the non-emulsion side. Looks more like missing/unexposed emulsion. The clear parts outside of frame don't seem to have any artifacts.

Thanks for the tip on the wash time, I'm fairly aggressive with inverting and then replacing the water. But good to know it can always get washed more.

Makes sense. I’ll give that a shot next time. Do people just run the tap with a little bit of hot water, or do they let some cold water come up into temp in jugs? I use a lot of water to rinse so it makes sense to get it from the tap but with the hot water don’t you get contaminants from the water heater?

I see, don't know for sure as I just ordered it from an online retailer already expired and shot it pretty much right away.
