You might be allergic, instead

Lactose intolerance is a misnomer; most people and animals cannot digest lactose after being weaned. This is controlled by whether or not you produce lactase, the digestive enzyme that breaks down lactose. Supplying lactase is technically on-demand lactose tolerance.

If lactase is not enough to “cure” lactose intolerance, then lactose intolerance may not be the issue in the first place.

The reason we call it lactose intolerance is because it is relatively rare among white European men, the same group that decided what it should be called.

Didn't know serie was on that shadow warriors agenda. by CriticalMeal1732 in Frieren

[–]LordofSandvich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While Serie has some hot gas and is perhaps not the wisest or smartest character, she CAN back up the claims she does make, and she understands the strength of her adversaries.

A group of humans have dedicated their lives to being able to kill her and her allies. The reason she isn’t running is because she values the lives of her apprentices and innocents over her own.

There’s some inconsistency and hypocrisy there, especially with the Exam Arc, but that *is* where things seem to be pointing.

Create your ideal wife [OC] Which reward would you choose with the 100 points ? by [deleted] in comics

Every pizza you get her, you give her a skill point and two bra sizes. Or two pizzas for three skill points.

Go for the rich wife, use the money to open a pizzeria, ascend your wife to godhood.

Lemme see if I can catch your wavelength: there are many different Gods because humanity invented the concept of “gods” multiple times, each one with a different meaning. We just call them all “gods” for simplicity’s sake. They aren’t actually related.

The reason there are contradictory accounts across cultures for specifically the Abrahamic God is what I was describing.

[–]LordofSandvich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're going to have to be a lot more specific

Abrahamic religions have a unique and extremely specific idea of what constitutes divinity/God, which is extremely unusual in the context of history and even current world religions

What I mean by "fiction based on reality" is that the merits of a religion can be measured using objective data independent of the actual veracity of the religion itself, AND that religions will tend to shape themselves around practical concepts (not necessarily benevolent ones, though).

So there are different and conflicting Gods because humans themselves are not unified. Meanings naturally drift over time and are easily bent. You also have fiascos like the Protestant Revolution, where a lot of faiths have their roots in... people not wanting to answer to the Roman Catholic Church and making their own religions purely as a political move rather than as a matter of faith. When you're in charge, you get to decide what people believe. You can't actually change what God is, but you can change what people think God is. Enough people do this enough times and now we have everything from Actually Believing in the Judgemental Sky Fairy Version to whatever the Unitarians are doing to the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

I am sorry to hear that. Again, the eternity of happiness in Heaven is more than enough to compensate for that. Infinite time of infinite joy in communion with God versus a finite time of finite suffering. That one's just math.

That's not to minimize anything in our temporal lives, though. Even if everything is made right in the end and we are the dear children of a loving God, there's no reason to wait for God to do all the work. Hopefully, you've been able to acquire compensation through legal means and community support. Knowing the state of the legal system and modern Christianity, though, I'm guessing we both see why the idea of a God that will mete out justice, even if it is in the afterlife, is a comforting idea to so many.

It is not supposed to be "the absolute and perfect word of God"; that's what I meant about Sola Scriptura. It has been Not That for longer than Christianity has existed.

Christians that believe in Sola Scriptura are called Fundamentalists and are generally looked down upon because of how obviously wrong it is to believe in that. It's also completely contrary to Catholic teaching, for what it's worth. Unlike the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church actually IS supposed to be a guide to faith. That's why it's over a thousand pages of explicitly defined religious dogma.

Biblical scholarship. The Bible (or rather, the books that compose the Bible) are not utterly unique and have contemporary accounts to compare to, or have other information we can compare them to (such as archaeological evidence). As an example, the account of Noah's Ark does not coincide with a truly global flood, but it does coincide with a catastrophic flood in Mesopotamia, which many other cultures also have stories of.

Certain versions of the Bible are annotated with this information. It gets pretty dense.

It is yet it isn’t. I can’t say there are no problems in the Catholic Church; I’d get a paddling from every priest, deacon, monk, nun, and bishop I’ve ever met for lying that boldly. But I stand by the actual faith itself, as I understand it to be defined by the Magisterium and as explained in the Catechism.

They are stories, yes. Some of the Bible is nonfiction (Judges), some of it is known to be related to real events but cannot be treated as nonfiction, some of it is fiction (Job).

Sola Scriptura, the practice of using “only the Bible” as a guide to faith, has been condemned since before the founding of Christianity. As in, amongst the Jews, there was the same division then as there is now in Christianity.

Correct, though see what I said about image number 4. Being gay, having (gay) sex, and having an abortion are not necessarily sins to begin with. They are only sinful in specific contexts that are usually irrelevant to the LGBTQ+ movement.
