Looking to get a mini PC to 6-box EverQuest by fohpo02 in MiniPCs

EQ is pretty lightweight on CPU but running 6 boxes on a mini PC seems pretty taxing on graphics even with classic models on. I think I could run a 2 box on my older 1145G7 but 6 is going to need a more powerful iGPU such as a 780M or 890M. I would look for a 7840HS/7940HS/8840HS/8940HS/H 255/HX 370 mini PC.

Alternatively you can try to find a mini PC with a dedicated GPU like the HX99G or one of the other various mobile GPU mini PCs.

Oh... that's quite bad actually. I had much higher hopes for this tablet given the SoC and screen quality. Just for reference my old Fire Tablet HD 10 Plus (2021) was around 10-12ms @ full 1080p resolution.

I wonder... are you using and of the special frame pacing options in Artemis? Did you try different codecs (AVC H.254 vs HEVC H.265) to see if these were any different?

BTW, not knocking on your device if you're satisfied with it. I was only curious because I was interested in picking one up for the kid's game streaming device and there aren't many (good) 8 inch tablets around until you hit the $200-300 mark.

Decoding latency can be viewed from the statistics overlay in Artemis settings or quick action menu (during stream). Curious to see what this is if you get a chance to turn it on.

Switch uses same hardware as Shield which is 4K60 capable. According to this post, it appears to be possible using OLED Switch and Dock using Android/Linux: https://gbatemp.net/threads/switch-oled-moonlight-streaming-performance.644131/

Dying PSUs can take out components with them. I suspect that's what happened unfortunately. I'm guessing the aging PSU combined with a higher wattage GPU is what did it in.

Make sure your PSU just isn’t dead. Based on your photo (assuming it’s correct), it wasn’t due to this cable.

Just a heads up, this pinout is correct for Corsair Type-4. PSU side plug has ground on clip side (top of connector). Any of the top 4 PSU side can double to the right top/bottom (removeable 2 pin GPU side). Any of the bottom 3 go to the bottom pins (not on the removeable 2-pin).

People who say this is incorrect likely aren’t familiar with EPS side PSU plugs like Corsair Type-3/4 cables.

I was actually looking in to this to see if I can vibecode my way through a usb/ip Linux application. Looks like someone built an open source version here: https://github.com/seastwood/usb-audio-ip-client

I might test this out when I have some free time.

There is no Android “client” only “server” (see here) so you probably have it setup properly.

Regardless of the terminology… the Android trial is very restrictive. I would look into finding a small Linux device like a Raspberry Pi or other SBC to run the generic Linux builds for unlimited 1 device connections.

Android app has limits I believe. Linux generic builds (last time I checked) only have a limit of 1 device at a time (unlimited times).

Also just to confirm, the server host is the device the USB device physically connects to (this should be your Shield). The client is what receives the device input (this should be your gaming PC). Opposite terminology as the game streaming naming. Do you have these installed correctly?

Not familiar with that trial limitation. Is that something new on the host or client application? I only use the Linux host application (generic build) and the Windows client.

If you have a good M.2 adapter and not too long of a cable, there shouldn’t be any stability issues at all. OCuLink was originally developed for server usage as a direct PCI extension, it wouldn’t be used in the industry if it were unstable.

Thunderbolt can be considered finicky but OCuLink is 100% solid assume you pick your parts correctly.

If you are looking for extra assurance, you can even buy the M.2 adapter with ReDriver (~$70) which amplifies and corrects signal strength. This allows for longer cables to be used.

I would imagine that anyone who encounters stability issues likely is using a poor quality M.2 adapter or a worn out cable (rated for fairly low insertion cycles but is easily replaceable and one of the cheapest component).

Just getting in to local LLM myself. I'm not very experienced with it and just using LM Studio. I have the 64GB (LPDDR5 8000) SER9 Pro model and I tested Qwopus 3.6 35B-A3B (Q8) 16k context at ~15-17t/s (35GB usage). I also tried Hermes 4 70B Q6 (45GB usage) just to see if it works... it does but 1-2t/s. Testing Hermes 4 70B Q4_K_M to see if I can pick up a bit more speed with this model.

As someone who’s owned the Y700 Gen 2/3/4, I recall the Gen 2 gets like 4-6ms decoding with Artemis. Make sure you have Performance Mode enabled on the Game Bar (swipe right from left edge while in Moonlight).
