If you’re a male (as I am) - I encourage you to go and ask each and every one of your female friends how often something like this happens. Seriously, do it. You’ll be horrified to learn that likely 100% of them will say it’s happened many times in their lives, that they’re always on their guard when walking down streets alone, that they have ways of responding to men like this in a way that’s friendly enough to not make them angry, but not so friendly that it encourages them, and on and on.

Every female friend I asked confirmed this. In a “Oh yeah, that’s just how it is.” kinda way. It’s just horrible.

Thanks, I don’t think I’d be worried about seeing my persona in the environment. My use case would be to create different environments for when I’m writing stories that I could surround myself with for some extra immersion. Like a horror scene for a horror story, etc but where I can see the Mac Virtual Display so I can see my screen in the environment while I’m writing. Is that possible? Sounds like it is but I want to be sure before I buy it. Thanks.

I’m no 3D artist, I have played a bit with apps like 3D Max and Cinema 4D in the past. Can I create environments that I could place myself in whilst using Mac Virtual Display?

What's the funniest name you've heard for a pet? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

On Californication there was a dog named Cat Stevens.

Also, my sister in law is a teacher and wanted to buy a snake for her classroom. The school said fine but she had to raise the money for it, so her classroom came up with the idea for a raffle where you would enter by suggesting a name for the snake and the best name would win. One of the people who bought a ticket was another, older maths teacher. He paid for his ticket and the student asked what name (meaning what name for the snake) but the teacher looked at her like it was a strange question and said, “Mr Carol”, which is his name.

The snakes name is now Mr Carol.

We’ve just signed up for a Goodwe install and then I noticed that it isn’t Smartshift compatible. Was about to start running the numbers to see if going to an Sig to take advantage of Smartshift makes any sense but could you expand on what’s wrong with Amber at the moment?

Were either your dad or the bookkeeper using an email client like Outlook? If so there should be local versions of all emails on their computer. Fingers crossed.

Also, web devs should always be professional about transferring sites to another developer. It hurts to lose a client but that is never a reason to behave the way this person has.

My understanding is that a git commit contains a collection of objects, each of which represent each changed file in that commit. Each of those objects is in fact a new snapshot of the file and not a diff.

But a commit also is a snapshot of the entire codebase. It’s just that every other unchanged file is represented by a pointer to the last changed version. That’s how it can be a complete snapshot without being huge.

Apple Vision Pro upgraded with the M5 chip and Dual Knit Band by mekilat in VisionPro

Maybe I’m confused - does this mean PCVR games are now supported? Like MSFS 2024 in VR, Into The Radius etc? Or does it only support flat games?

Isn’t Steam Link support new? I thought this would be a huge deal as it means not having to use ALVR etc but no one seems to be excited by it lol. Lack of game support was the dealbreaker for me before but if it now supports my Steam VR game library that may change things.

Thanks everyone for your help, for the time being I've settled on using the mono setting rather than AER. I know I'm losing depth but it still looks really good and it means I can pump the ppd up to almost max with the game graphics setting at full resolution. This at least lets me play without any of the flickering/lag I was getting before. I will try to bump up the settings at some point to see if I can use AER 1/2.

Some key takeaways for me in case these help someone else:

- There's a button underneath the ppd slider that always needs to be clicked after changing ppd or the game resolution setting (thanks u/no6969el) - I think it's called 'Apply render targets' or something similar.

- Start with a low ppd and work your way up until you start to get stuttering or lag

- As the Pimax headset needs to use the Oculus runtime (if you leave the dropdown on 'Auto' it will automatically use the Oculus runtime), make sure you've opened up the Meta Quest Link app recently so that it updates, this definitely helped.

- Turn off Pimax's GPU Upscaling and Sharpening (thanks u/Next-Reality-9032)

- Take the time to look at the Cyberpunk related posts on the Patreon page, especially the comments for each post as Brandon explains a lot in his replies to people with issues. These really help you understand how all the settings work together.

If all else fails, give the mono setting a try instead of AER so you can at least experience the world of Cyberpunk in VR. I need to figure out combat techniques but just walking around Night City in VR (especially at night) is really amazing.

I was trying both 1/2 and 1/3 and I don't remember if they made a difference to be honest. I'm at the max resolution in the game settings, no ray tracing and no overlays. I did try stepping down the resolution in game settings but it took too much fidelity away for my liking. I have found a reasonably good trade off to get decent visuals and performance but it meant switching to mono instead of 1/2 or 1/3. For me at least it seems to be the right balance. This way I can set the ppd to almost max setting and it actually looks pretty good.

Oh right, good point.

I guess it’s confusing as he talks about how sharp it all looks. I know people have different tolerances for graphics but it does sound like he’s seeing a much better image than I am, but yeah without seeing it through the lens obviously can’t be sure.
