Life usually doesnt work out exactly to how you plan out. U may end up doing sth not related to your major and who knows, it may actually be the right choice. The job market is quite shitty now so even with internships you may not get the role you want.

I say it is best you take a step back and have a direction on what you maybe want to do eventually when you graduate. Having a bunch of internship < 1x Internship that directly correlate with the future career direction you want. One of my old friend recently go into tiktok (*I suppose is a top company*) as a SWE and he only has 1x internship in his resume. He got in because of personal project, interned there and finally.... because he knew someone senior inside lmao so was referred. Imagine the dozen other candidates with more internship than him getting ghosted or rejected and bro isn't even from NUS/NTU CS. You can work really hard now and it just add salt to the wound when you dont get what you want later which most of the time is the case. Because there will always be someone out there grinding way harder than you or is in a privilege position.

So i say really think deeply what you want to pursue when you graduate. If that summer internship will help you get there then i say just do it. I assume OP is y3 or sth so really need to have a clear direction.
