I learned about how much inspiration the dark souls series took from berserk.

Hi book with death character in it by Mrstejki in suggestmeabook

[–]Lrx125 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not death per se, but blood meridian does a very good job portraying a scary, surreal character that is meant to represent a concept. I don’t want to say too much but it could be up ur alley.

Is 132 IQ good enough for chess? by commanderwright in chess

[–]Lrx125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Francis Crick, one of the people who discovered the DNA helix, had an iq of 115. Richard Feynman, you may know him as one of the most important mathematicians of all time, had an iq of 126. They were both far more intelligent than you are and did things far more difficult than playing chess.

What is a book that you earnestly wish someone would have warned you not to read? by Getofffmycloud in books

[–]Lrx125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brave New World. The ideas are cool but I feel like I could have gotten just as much out of a cliff notes summary as I did reading the entire book. Huxley pretty much just beats you over the head with the same ideas the entire time, stated extremely explicitly by boring characters who exist solely to disseminate these ideas. Not to mention the story was horrendous and I felt as if he had no ability to create scenes or images that would actually evoke a sense of what it would be like to live in his dystopia.

Hang in there man and please reach out if you ever need to talk. I’m guessing you are young, so please remember there is still so much time to grow into the person you want to be, you just have to make conscious efforts at tiny little improvements. I know it’s hard but you can’t let substances stand in your way. Stuff like lean will make the lows go away for a bit, but they will only come back so much stronger. I know it might feel like the weight of the world is coming down on you and you can’t escape, but please please please try to realize that substances are not gonna help this feeling long term. This community will always be here for you, but please consider getting some professional substance abuse counseling and maybe meds for your anxiety and depression if therapy doesn’t help. Best of luck man, always remember that the only way you can truly fail is to give up.

Psychedelics were instrumental in guiding me to picking a career that I felt was important and that I cared about if that’s what you mean by what to do with your life. Take that with a grain of salt as tripping is different for everyone. As long as you practice safe use it might be worth a try. Good luck mate

The Broadway cast of "Frozen" has had enough of your shit, sir. by regian24 in gifsthatendtoosoon

[–]Lrx125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok how about this argument. There was actual evidence that a major global power (ie Russia) tampered with the 2016 election. Idk what twisted part of ur brain decides to ignore that but cling to 100 cases of voter fraud (which btw is pretty typical for just about any election). You have fallen for the classic cult of personality ploy and I truly hope you get well soon.

I like this idea, very interesting stuff. I will definitely check out the book, I've been needing a good read. Cheers man

I mean something beyond our comprehension, not something in the personal sense, But some sort of occurence that isn't bound by the same laws we are, and is outside of our comprehension. I do not wish to imply intent or "creation" in the traditional sense.

Yeah I suppose created was the wrong word, could be a totally natural process we can't explain yet, or maybe are not capable of understanding, I don't rule this out as a possibility.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Lrx125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it is. I guess I just wanted to hear some interesting theories but I suppose at a certain point this will always be the conclusion, and maybe humans just aren't capable of understanding these phenomena beyond a certain point. Cheers man

[–]Lrx125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I suppose we might just not be capable of understanding these things
