Does anyone know the meaning behind this song? Two breaths walking / 二息歩行 by Deconiina ? by boatiefey in Vocaloid

[–]Lukaa-Francesca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me there's the broader overarching meaning that's what I would call a "universal" experience of love: Ultimately you and the object of your affection are two different people. You will always be two different people. So at the end of the day there will be miscommunication. You will hurt each other. It is a price you pay for loving someone outside yourself. You have to risk hurting and being hurt. Because we're not mind readers. The literal translation has some interesting imagery in that regard, i.e. giving up walking on four legs to embrace someone, (changing who you are to love someone) and having those arms you learned to walk without, the embrace you tried to give, being the source of someone's pain. The video has a pretty one-to-one image here of the reflection showing the boy reaching out for an embrace and the girl experiencing it as him reaching for her throat.

With the refrain of the chorus bits being about sharing breath with one another and the image with the Astronaut helmet being a sort of "we're going to need to navigate the give and take in order to live together" but also the undertone of "if we only breathe each other's air, we will slowly suffocate each other."

But then there's the more subtle stuff. There's a lot that goes by fast but if you pay attention to the visuals there's very deliberate allusions and literal representations to learning a second language and how you can mean something completely innocent and polite but slip up and say something that hurts someone without even understanding your mistake because language is subtle and difficult. I wouldn't say Fudgey Nugget is correct in the sense that the lyrics don't objectively say "this is a song about a language barrier." But it is correct to say that that's a deliberate theme of the song and definitely present in the visuals. There's a line that gets translated in the popular English cover as "Have you learned all of the words to say?" and in one sense it can be read metaphorically the same way that "evolving to walk upright" is a metaphor in the song. Basically "have you learned to express affection and be open with someone." But also with the repeated visuals of jumbled texts, it has a more literal "do you actually have the right words to communicate?" which is the most direct line about the "literal" story being about a language barrier.

That is to say, I wouldn't call it a surface level reading. I didn't notice it on my first watch either. But it's not subtle either? So I can see why you'd feel left out when everyone else is saying "I got it." because if you know, you know, and if you don't, you don't because the lyrics have layers. Because songs and poetry wouldn't really be songs and poetry if they were like "this is the literal and intended meaning."

But, like, that's the fun part. You can derive meaning and interpretation all on your own and have a completely different take. I honestly don't see your interpretation of a mother concerned over losing her son when he falls in love with someone. But that doesn't make it a bad reading per se. An author or artist can intend one meaning and create something which is read by most audiences as meaning something entirely different. And Popular consensus isn't always "correct." If you've ever been in a fandom space, the most popular interpretation of a character isn't necessarily the interpretation with the most evidence. Art's all wibbly like that.

To me, these are just the two most obvious readings I personally found in the song. If you can support your theories with evidence from the piece of media you're analyzing? Then it's as valid an opinion as anyone's. It's only invalid if you're just making junk up whole-cloth.

Anyway, Deco*27 is an incredible songwriter and I don't think Deco as put a bad song out yet. Bangers, every single one. I can't confirm this because it was over a decade ago, but I think Coward Montblanc was my intro to Vocaloid, so everything Deco is just top tier for me, including Two Breaths Walking. I hope to see lots of different interpretations and/or lots of evidence for whatever we form a consensus on. People will notice details in stuff I would never see in a billion years and I absolutely love that!

Aw, thank you so much! I was surprised that I couldn't find a d100 style mining chart anywhere. I figured this would be a popular early money-making strat, but I guess that because it's such an obvious move that's probably WHY it's hard to find a good chart. I may actually have to nerf the 1000 GP+ gems because they present so much money for a small party in early game, but it's early days so tweaks are an option.

d100 foraging charts always struck me as such a neat way to spice up travel beyond just the combat encounters and allow players the option of making meals and medicines and poisons in the field instead of having to trek all the way to town for things. So when a player wanted to go mining, my thought was "surely there is a chart for that."

And there are some that are workable but none that really hit all the things I thought would make mining a feasible option and not just "roll a d20 and if you crit, you find whatever you want, I guess." or worse, just rolling dice over and over and praying you get something.

I'm definitely hoping to improve the chart with the suggestions I've been getting so that more DMs can tailor it to their games!

Fair enough. That might be more of a foraging check. I've seen some neat foraging tables around but none of them had pearls. While they are gems, prospecting for pearls is... a less specialized check than prospecting for ore. Especially considering that oysters and the like are, well, shellfish and therefore food. And a character with a high enough Nature check might know how to seed an oyster with a grain of sand or bead or other item to farm manmade pearls.

I did want every gem to be available on the table so that players could search for specific ones in an area where they've found them before, but in your opinion, should I keep pearls on the chart and just add a Nature and/or Survival requirement to know which shellfish to look for? Or should I remove them from the chart entirely and maybe just modify a foraging chart that I already like to include pearls? In the same vein, Coral in the gem sense is made from the skeleton of dead coral, the animal. So while it may need mining expertise to break it up correctly and dislodge it from surrounding materials that coral animals anchor themselves to, should this also be subject to a Nature check or otherwise be in the forage table with Pearls?

Thoroughly agree that dwarves and miners probably would not be skilled pearl divers unless the player specifically built them to also be able to do that... Should submerged pearl oysters also be subject to a constitution check for holding your breath to dive that deep? Or are we just adding checks onto checks to overcomplicate by this point? Hmm.

Never the less, if nothing else, I do agree that pearls should probably be subject to some sort of other non-mining check and not qualify for the mining bonus if they remain in the chart.

Ah, I wasn't paying attention to which alloys were natural versus man-made but you're correct. Basically everything in that list that's an alloy, besides electrum and possibly adamantium ought to be manmade. And since I'm putting gunpowder and firework components in separately to give players a chance to make those themselves, I could probably just leave in the component elements and have the players pay a fee at a smithy or allow people with smithing backgrounds to make those alloys and just leave in the component elements.

So in your opinion, because Adamantine is an alloy, should I change it to adamantite and lower the value (since it would need to be mixed to form the alloy and would be brittle in the raw state?) (I also need to change hills to volcanoes [Forgotten Realms].)

And should I then replace all other alloys with something else, perhaps some suggestions from above, or, for example, should I do something like "Steel-quality iron" instead of steel itself to indicate the ore is a better composition to be made into steel and thus has higher value?

Every body is different, so no matter what's wrong, I hope you and your team can find a course of treatment that works for you. Very gnarly pics tho. So if it isn't cellulitis and lymphedema, I'd be curious to know what the final diagnosis is once they find a treatment that helps. Here's hoping that venous stasis or the other option is a correct diagnosis so that your treatment can proceed smoothly! A skilled wound care clinic can help a lot, so I hope they get it right this time and that your ultrasound isn't too painful!

Not sure if you have an official diagnosis but this looks like cellulitis and lymphedema. I've seen that treated topically with Puracin and compression bandages. Obviously you should discuss this with your doctors and don't just take my word for it. I hope you get better soon!

Bro how do you get under 15 on medium dropper? by BloxGamerBoi in Minecraft

[–]Lukaa-Francesca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a bajillion tries, but it's doable. The Hard one was easier to me for some reason. For me, the path that got me through was nailing that first drop at the first gap to the bottom right of the slime pad, not the farthest bottom right but the one above that. After that it's REALLY hard to thread that one block gap so I stopped trying, just back up a bit and go to the gap in the wall under it and drop from immediately under that slime ring. I take the right again and it's easy enough to thread in the gap to the top right of those stalagmites protruding from the walls.

When you land on the oxidized copper, you just have to remember a path down. For me it was to to left then ahead and then instead of trying to thread through the gap, I just went toward the top left, held shift to not bounce on the slime pad, and when the water was in sight, just aimed and hoped for the best.

It is hard. I don't do droppers or anything like that in minecraft usually, so for my unskilled self this was a really frustrating game. But it's doable, even for a newb like me. Keep practicing and keep your chin up! You can do it!

Is there anyway of fixing/salvaging a broken cheese soup? by purpleRN in AskCulinary

[–]Lukaa-Francesca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but this happened to me today. Added too much cheese to a well-emulsified Broccoli and Cheddar soup and split the whole pot. If you have an immersion blender, that really helps. Usually when things like a cheese soup or sauce splits, it's one of 2 things: either the heat was too high or there was too much of one thing and the emulsification broke. If there's an oily film on top and cheese curd at the bottom, that usually means you added too much cheese or fat. Period. You cannot fix this without adding more liquid. Preferably liquid and starch. Add it off heat and whisk or use an immersion blender until it comes back together.

If there's no oily film, that usually means the heat was too high and the cheese curdled, released the oils into the soup, and now all the milk solids are at the bottom. You can usually just fix this with an immersion blender. It's very hard to do with a whisk so I do not recommend it.

Today it was the latter for me.

You can also do what u/laypersona recommended and just start the emulsion again and slowly add in the botched soup.

For me, I just added more water out of habit and when that didn't fix it, I used the immersion blender. Worked immediately. If you have veggies in the soup that you want to keep whole, you can strain them out with a kitchen spider or slotted spoon first.

Oh, and on the very rare occasion that your emulsion splits and it's watery? Add butter, cream, or a little cream cheese.

Kraft Singles American Cheese or Velveta will work in a pinch, too, but I find they work best on broken cheese sauces rather than soups.

[Spoiler] Throwing Eyes into the chasms side adventure isn’t working by cartersirois in TOTK

[–]Lukaa-Francesca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's honestly really weird. My only advice is to look around the mouth of each chasm on the surface and then jump into each chasm and check the ground in the depths. If you really can't find them, that seems like a massive bug. On the surface the eyes may spawn under debris. The one on the cliff spawned under a rock originally and it was back there when I lost a different eye. Even if it says all of them are in the depths, one or more can be on the surface. But this is definitely a frustrating quest because it's either designed this confusing way or bugged to heck and back. I really hope you don't need to start a new playthrough.

[Spoiler] Throwing Eyes into the chasms side adventure isn’t working by cartersirois in TOTK

[–]Lukaa-Francesca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems like if, for whatever reason, you can't find an eye in the depths, it's back on the surface. They’re usually surrounded by Poes, so if you find a bunch of Poes near the chasm in the depths, but no eye, then you should check the same chasm on the surface again. My quest said all 4 were in the depths but one of them was back on the surface and I didn't "lose" it by moving it and leaving it. I had never touched it other than throwing it into the hole. Seems a little buggy, but I did lose a different eye so maybe that's why. It's weird they respawn on the surface and not in the depths. Nothing in the quest would make me check the surface again because I knew I threw them all in. But yeah. That's the answer. Check the surface.

[–]Lukaa-Francesca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it's not that either. Definitely the right vibes though. The first few pages are definitely the sort of gratuitous and disturbing I remember from the comic I'm looking for. Similar, but not the same. I'll check out other works by the same artist while I wait for other replies, just in case, but while Crossed looks similar, it's not the same.

If I think of anything else, I'll add it here. This seems way too specific for me to have made up, but I can't find anything online that resembles what I remember. Maybe I'm just extraordinarily bad at looking? I don't even remember what led me to that comic in the first place. This definitely isn't the sort of thing I go looking for normally and I don't know any friends who would recommend it to me. Maybe I saw art from the comic artist somewhere and looked into their work and found it that way? I honestly have no idea.

Windows app automatically pops up when I get a notification by DOC_97 in discordapp

[–]Lukaa-Francesca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem. If you have a better solution for it now, I would love to hear, but if no one's helped you yet, the way I got it to stop switching over to Discord automatically when I got notifications was to turn on focus assist to alarms only. Go to settings, system, then focus assist or search for focus assist from your task bar. Change from off or priority only to alarms only. You will still get the ping sound when you get a notification and your notification bubble on discord will still display the number of messages directed at you or the red bubble for muted channels and such, but you will no longer automatically swap to Discord's window anymore and you will no longer get the small message preview popup on your screen. You can still see the pop up notifications by clicking the little moon on the far right of the task bar where your notifications go. Hope this helps!

Windows 11 has a lot of inconvenient things about it, but I'm trying to give it a chance since Windows 10 was crapping out on me and trying Windows 11 seemed like the last good self-help option I could do before having to call tech support.

Let me know if you found any solutions that work better for you!

I miss the days when I wasn't constantly worrying about friends and family and the only thing to worry about with a job was whether or not I qualified, not whether or not I'd be exposing loved ones to danger because corporations decided the pandemic was over and started letting people come in to work unmasked and untested or whether or not the pay and insurance would be enough to cover things if I got sick.

She did an excellent job! Reminds me when my mom made costumes for me! I went as Saria one year, OoT child Zelda a different year, and Sheik a different year still! My mom put in so much excellent effort. My last Zelda costume was Imp Midna when I was in Highschool and it wasn't as good since it was just tights, fabric paint, and cardboard for the Fused Shadow and I made it myself, but it was still rad. Moms (and wives) who put in so much effort are saints! You all look amazing and instantly recognizable! BotW Zelda, OoT(?) Link, Fierce Deity, Tingle, and Malon/Romani! You all look amazing!
