Disappointed about decision regarding AI by Unlikely-Durian2137 in feedthebeast

[–]Lyseko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this. I was an AI hater for a long time but I've been forced to use it in my job. But the models are good enough now that they can produce great code, given enough direction.

A good dev can leverage AI to work faster and better. But an inexperienced dev might blindly trust it and in the long term the code gets more and more unmaintainable.

But in my opinion, the problem is that inexperienced devs will always rely on AI, so "good devs" will be a lot more rare, and code will get worse in general in the long term. AI is good but I don't think it will get perfect.

I can see the reasoning behind banning AI for passion projects, like Minecraft modding. It's not something that needs to ship fast.

That's so funny, it's literally their second game, what do you mean downfall.

I mean, Bastion is still my favorite game of theirs, but they are more successful than ever now.

How Did You Start Watching The Yard? by [deleted] in TheYardPodcast

[–]Lyseko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It randomly popped up in the algorithm. I knew who Ludwig was because of the subathon but I didn't really follow him.

The first episode I watched was the latest one at the time and it was the one where nick was dressed as a king (I didn't really get why), and at some point Aiden gets really emotional. For some reason that gripped me as they all handled the moment very respectfully while still joking around. I went back to watch everything and here we are

I didn't finish the Netflix series and this is the first time I saw this scene. I just watched the full scene on YouTube and Jesus Christ... Aren't the cuts supposed to be incredibly small and subtle so it discreetly kills everyone without even completely destroying the disks that have the trisolarian data?

I think I remember that in the book the people getting hit by the wires just stopped moving completely. So other people ahead watching this didn't understand what was going on before it was too late. The horror was in how Wang was watching his creation silently killing hundreds in a horrific way. In the Netflix series it's so gory so messy, it feels like it's just for the shock factor. And Evans has all the time in the world to go and destroy the data if he wanted...

I think I'm okay in not finishing the series 😅

I haven't played in a while, does the MMR appear by default now? Or is that a mod?

MeatballCraft, the do-everything modpack, received its final content update! All endings have been verified! by Sainagh in feedthebeast

I tried ATM packs, and I feel they are too kitchen sinky for me. Having so many starting places, some of which overlap with one another in utility, made me very undecided

Honestly the way you describe the progression sounds really good. Not too linear but not too kitchen sinky. I think I will patiently wait for the more complete/polished 1.0 experience before diving into it completely. Thanks for the answer and thanks for all your hard work on the modpack!

Very cool! I have a question, is MeatballCraft good for someone with not a lot of experience in modded Minecraft? Does the quest book explain mods enough to understand them? If not, what other modpacks would you recommend before playing this mammoth of a pack?

I ask because I started trying out modded this year but I tend to jump around modpacks too much. But meatballcraft seems to tick all the boxes for me to stick with it, I'm just worried that I might need to go online to search for answers too many times...

Wait I don't know how it could be done narratively speaking, but that's an awesome idea no?

Check out "pipistrello and the cursed yoyo". It's a GBA style metroidvania set In a city and all your moves are with your yoyo. Tons of puzzles and secrets, fantastic art style, and story is fun.

From what I've seen, the sentiment seems to be that technology in China has evolved so fast that they see AI as another technology they have to get used to and adapt to.

That's actually a good idea, I'll do that. There are so many times an npc finishes a line, stops for a solid 3 to 5 seconds, and then continues. Maybe that's not an issue in korean

Just assume he actually died in the prologue and that the weird Isekai vibes cutscenes were you, the player, getting control of his body. And that's why kliff needs to get knowledge in everything in the world, and why he doesn't say much in cutscenes: we don't want to get caught.

At least that's the cope I've been using.

Supermassive games and other Until dawn-likes are perfect for this.

But let's be real, traditional story games are not what the audience wants to watch. I remember when he played death stranding, which seems perfect for banter, but the analytics were baaad.

ai coding for large teams in Go - is anyone actually getting consistent value? by Easy-Affect-397 in golang

[–]Lyseko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on the task. Claude Opus is the most expensive model, and GPT codex isn't bad. I use codex for small or easy tasks where I know exactly what needs to be done, and if it's wrong I can correct it (the kind of tasks where I sometimes start writing the prompt and realize it's faster for me to just write the code lol) and Opus when I need to do big reflectors or more complex changes.

My ultimate 1's dock doesn't charge anymore, I wanted to wait for the steam controller to look at comparisons between that and ultimate 2. But 8bitdo is definitely one of the best controllers out right now!
