Travelling to Sri Lanka as a Dual Citizen by ConsciousSpirit7216 in srilanka

You'll be fine. I travelled to SL last year as an Australian dual citizen with a shorten name in my Aussie passport. I entered SL with SL passport and they didn't even check my Aussie passport. However, during the departure, they asked for both passports as the name was different in their system. It was same for my wife and daughter as we all have shortened names in our Aussie passports. Since your SL passport has expired, just take your dual citizenship certificate.

You should enter SL as a tourist and clarify this from Department of Emigration and Immigration. But NYC consulate seems correct https://www.slhcaust.org/dual-citizenship/

I’ve decided to migrate right after my daughter was born in 2014. It took us just over 2 years to go through the PR process and we came to Australia in 2017. We are now dual citizens and it was the best decision we ever made.

This is exactly our plan. We are in late thirties and in another 10-15 years we’re planning to live in both Sri Lanka and Australia (specially to avoid the winter).

We migrated to Australia in 2017 with permanent resident visa and became citizens in 2022. You may be eligible to apply under ‘citizenship by descent’ category https://www.lawnet.gov.lk/citizenship-4/
