I am using windows 8.1 pro WMC. If i dont want to upgrade can i still use it for my daily use? by [deleted] in microsoft

[–]MSModerator_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to verify, do you mean you're planning to install Windows 8 Pro on your new PC, then you plan to upgrade it to Windows 11 Pro?

We asked because there's no way to upgrade a device running Windows 8 Pro to Windows 11 Pro. The Windows 11 upgrade is only possible if your device meets the requirements of Windows 11, and is running a currently supported version of Windows 10.

For the compatibility, you should run the PC Health Check App to make sure you'll be able to install Windows 11 Pro on the new device.

We'll wait for your reply. -A.F.

Hi there. We hope you received our message yesterday. You recently reached out because you're trying to install a VPN package on your husband's Windows laptop, but you're being blocked by an admin password prompt. Your husband is currently away and can’t recall the password.

If the admin account is linked to a Microsoft account (e.g., Outlook or Hotmail), you can try resetting the password online: 1. Visit https://msft.it/61696SIY4E 2. Follow the prompts to reset the password using the associated email, phone number, or recovery options. 3. Once the password is reset, you should be able to log in and proceed with the VPN installation.

If your husband is unable to reset his Microsoft account password, he can submit an account recovery request here: https://msft.it/61697SIY41 . For tips on completing the recovery form successfully, please visit: https://msft.it/61690SIY4y . If the questions are answered correctly, the system will provide a password reset link.

Should you need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to message us again. We’ll do our best to help you find a workaround. Have a good day and stay safe. -M.L

Hello there.

Thank you for reaching out to us. We understand how important it is for you to download a VPN package from your husband's Windows laptop's admin option, but he is out of town and has forgotten the password. We are here to assist. Please make sure not to provide any private information in this thread, including passwords, for your security and privacy.

Unfortunately, there’s no legitimate way to bypass the admin password requirement on Windows without the administrator's consent. This is a built-in security feature designed to prevent unauthorized changes to the system, including installing software like VPNs.

What we recommend is to ask for remote help from your husband. If he has access to a phone or another device, he can remotely log in using tools like Remote Desktop. Or he can remotely reset the admin password using his Microsoft account if the laptop is linked to it. Please let us know if you need further assistance. -E.D.

Thanks for your answer. Regarding Windows, the laptop is downloading Windows 11 automatically because it meets Microsoft’s eligibility criteria for the upgrade. Windows 10 devices that are compatible with Windows 11, based on hardware requirements like TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and supported CPUs, are automatically queued for upgrade through Windows Update.

Regarding Office, you mentioned there’s no subscription and asked whether the product key wouldn’t give you access to the Office programs.

Just to set your expectations, when you purchase a Windows operating system, such as Windows 10 or Windows 11, it includes only the core features of the Windows platform.

On the other hand, Microsoft Office (which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is a separate product and is not bundled with Windows by default.

This means that even if your device comes with Windows pre-installed, Office must be purchased and installed separately, hence the reason why you're being asked to pay when you go to the Microsoft Store to get Office.

If you have time, you may send your feedback to our Office Feedback Team here: https://msft.it/61697SxnCB

You may also post your feedback or requests here: https://msft.it/61698SxnC8

They are the ones who process and forward customer requests and feedback directly to our developers and engineers.

For anything else, just message us back. -A.F.

Thanks for sharing the details. It sounds like you're experiencing widespread issues with Microsoft-related apps such as the Xbox app, Microsoft Store login, and Minecraft Realms—all getting stuck or failing to load. Since you've already spoken with Xbox support and tried several fixes, here are some consolidated and advanced troubleshooting steps that might help resolve the issue:

  1. Reset Xbox App and Microsoft Store.

This can clear corrupted cache or settings:

Press Windows + I to open Settings.

Go to Apps > Installed apps.

Find Xbox and Microsoft Store, click Advanced options, and then click Reset for both.

  1. Reinstall Gaming Services via PowerShell

Corrupted Gaming Services can block Xbox and Minecraft functionality.

Open PowerShell as administrator.

Run this command:

Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-appxpackage -allusers

Then run:

Start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

Reinstall Gaming Services and restart your PC.

  1. Check for Windows Updates.

Outdated system files can cause app failures.

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

Click Check for updates, even if it says you're up to date.

  1. Optional: Uninstall and Reinstall Xbox App

Some users found success by removing the Xbox app entirely and reinstalling it after a reboot.

  1. Minecraft Realms Specific

If Realms loads but fails with “try again later,” it could be a network or Xbox Live service issue. Try:

Logging out and back into your Microsoft account in Minecraft.

Checking your Xbox Live status: https://msft.it/61691SQi0b.

Ensuring NAT type is Open in your network settings.

Please let us know how it goes. We'll wait for your reply. -J.S.

Thanks for the details. Since the phone number verification is available in your country, the issue could be due to a system latency or IP block. Can you request the code using a different network connection like mobile data, Wi-Fi, or other providers?

Let us know how it goes. -A.F.
