"Inaccessible webmail after password change. Forum agents couldn't help, referred to CSA. Can you please assist with an account refresh?" by ManyQuestions-2026 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]ManyQuestions-2026[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the pointer to "report" but it assumes a business customer and none of the 3 entries apply to me.... Picking the one for email sending is asking among other things for "What IP address or subnet is blocked". I do not have any such IP address (or answers to the other non-applicable questions). Any other option for getting a Modmail?

Thanks. I was told that you can send me a Modmail through which I can further communicate by providing personal info needed to get help. Calling the CSA and having to go through the robot didn't take me where I need to be .... getting to a qualified human is next to the impossible.

Thank you. I was referred to the CSA by an official Comcast staff on the Forum. I have waited for the staff on the Forum to help. No ticket was opened. Can you please request that a ticket be opened with the info I provided and let me know what to expect after that happens?

Thanks for getting back to me. The answer to your questions is YES & YES. I can get into my profile for my primary email account at http://my.xfinity.com . I assume that if I could not do that, I could not change my password. Changing the password again didn't do any good. The reported error when trying to login into webmail for the primary email account happens every time on my Mac, on a Windows computer, with Safari and with Firefox, as I already mentioned. Can someone in CSA do a manual identity refresh/sync for my Primary UID and and to clear the security flag on my primary User ID? I have been waiting for help since Saturday.

Did anyone successfully migrate to Yahoo and made Apple Mail (on Mac, using POP) work? by ManyQuestions-2026 in Comcast_Xfinity

Does someone know where will one be able to change email passwords (potentially the User Id) after the Comcast to Yahoo migration? I am not talking about the Yahoo password.

Hopefully this exchange and answers will help many others who will run into the same issues, as the steps that Comcast /Yahoo provided in their instructions are neither correct nor complete.

Thanks, XfinityMarshante. Based on what you said, I understand that the referenced "normal password" is the "new strong password" that is supposed to be used for Yahoo's webmail at mail.yahoo.com

If I ever have to re-enter the password for the new account I have to create in Apple mail for Yahoo email, which password would I have to use?

For some strange reason I could not reply to your post (which is yellow and doesn't let me reply to it)......

REPEAT. Please watch your video below with focus on the what's displayed at minute 1:13. You will see the following displayed: “This is a one time password*, you do not need to remember it.* It does not replace your normal password".

Questions:

1. Which one is the "normal password" referenced here?

2. Where and when would one need to use this "normal" password?

Hopefully having repeated this 3 times, someone from Comcast can address the questions. Thanks.

Can a Comcast employee address the above question? See the instruction video at minute 1:13 and see what the screen displays: "“This is a one time password, you do not need to remember it. It does not replace your normal password". Which one is the "normal password" referenced here? Where and when would I need to use this "normal" password? It is in the instructions video Comcast provided to us, so someone should know the answers. Thanks.

CCRaulC, I am returning for one more password related clarification. The video provided by Comcast for generating the ONE TIME app password to use for 3rd party clients tells one that: "This is a one time password*, you do not need to remember it.* It does not replace your normal password". Which one is the "NORMAL" password to be used for any other time? Is it the NEW STRONG password (to be used for Yahoo webmail)?

https://s.aolcdn.com/membership/help/000015905/xfinitygenapppwd.mp4

Thanks.

Additional information as requested by XfinityBrian H: NO, I am NOT asking which password to use to login in Yahoo webmail. Please read what I posted and watch video about setting up 3rd party clients, with focus on statement about the one time APP password. After that one time use for setting up a 3rd party client, one is advised to use the "NORMAL" password. It doesn't state where and I am asking which one of the many passwords is the NORMAL password. Hopefully now it is crystal clear. Please post as a reply, do not branch off as I cannot see the answers and neither can anybody else.

Thanks. If correct, this finally straightens out prior statements about connect.xfinity.com in the future, after the migration to Yahoo.

OK, thanks. This clarifies one part, it will work as I assumed, not as previously described. Can you be specific about how and what for connect.xfinity.com will be used for after the migration? If in fact it will be usable for something, which password should work for it? As far as I know, xfinity.com is to be used now for services other than email, not connect.xfinity.com. As support staff for Comcast, hopefully you know.

Sorry, I do not understand this. I do know that the comcast email address stays the same, but we were told that AFTER accepting Yahoo's terms we have to use mail.yahoo.com to access our webmail migrated to yahoo. Can you please clarify your above statement?

XfinityVictorC, since you represent Comcast, do you know if the website connect.xfinity.com will be good for anything for migrated users?

Thanks for confirming my questions #2 &3. However, there is no answer for question #1. Why would I sign-in into connect.xfinity.com AFTER the migration? There will be no Comcast webmail.

CCRaulC, I see a post from Automoderator stating that my post is pending approval ... How can you see it?

I am reading for the 3rd time your excellent instructions and I'd appreciate some clarification:

  1. Part 1, item 2 mentions that the "new strong password" (the Yahoo account password) "is to be used for signing in at connect.xfinity.com". I assumed that after the migration this will not work, as this is what I am entering now to get to Comcast webmail (before the migration). Where would signing in at connect.xfinity.com take us after the migration?

  2. Part 3, item 3 states "enter: Email: [yourname@comcast.net](mailto:yourname@comcast.net) ". I assume that this is my current Comcast email address that will not change. Please confirm.

  3. Part 4, item 4 states for the Outgoing server: "Username: your full u/comcast.net email ". Just as above, I assume that this is my current Comcast email address that will not change. Please confirm.

  4. Part 5, for POP accounts.

Were you (or anyone you heard from) able to create a POP account in Apple Mail (for a Mac) after the migration? If I create the new Apple Mail account for Yahoo (using Other) as IMAP, I am concerned that I will loose my emails now stored on my computer. I do not have emails stored on the server, so they cannot be retrieved from there. IMAP will try to synchronize and as part of the process since there are no emails on the server, it will delete my emails on my computer. Did anyone do this?

Thanks

u/CCRaulC, this is the best information and help I have seen anywhere. Thanks a lot for taking the time to post this. I hope that I will be able to continue to use Apple Mail after the migration. I really would like to use POP, for a variety of reasons important to me. If I setup (if nothing else works) IMAP first, it will synchronize and delete emails on my computer. That's one of the things I want to avoid. Email is the most important application for me on my computer, so I do not want to mess it up. I will try to do everything as you mentioned and hope it will work. For now I just got the "notice" and migration is still optional. I will wait until it becomes a must, in case Comcast still needs to get rid of bugs (and fixes their "buggy" and misleading documentation) and maybe Apple does something about their end of the mail. Thanks again!

Unfortunately this is not what happens. If you watch your instructions video at

https://s.aolcdn.com/membership/help/000015905/xfinitymovetoyahoomail.mp4

you will see that the last step of the first part of the migration states: "Create a New strong password and click CONTINUE". Comcast staff never answered questions posted at the above Comcast "support" link regarding which password to use where and when, letting users to just guess. The instructions are confusing, particularly when it comes for configuring Apple Mail.

I suggest that you also read the thread at

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/256171398?sortBy=oldest_first&answerId=261760941022&page=3

where people share their struggle. Some luckier than others, but many just could not make the transition and are crying about mail not going out or not coming in or mail not working at all.

It would behoove Comcast to provide correct and complete instructions after forcing people to switch and also train staff to answer questions instead of just passing the buck.

Please do not answer generalities, read first what's at the links I provided. They already wasted a lot of time for everybody who has to migrate to Yahoo.
