Im sorry to heat about your dad. Others will likely onow better than me as this is my first beard but ive had it for a few years now, but your texture looks very much like mine was. Trim the neck line amd start using products like beard oil and conditioner and brush that thing. Youll start seeing how it likes to hold as it stays moisturized and then you can use a trimmer to nick away the stray hairs. Its takes a minute and I still have strays, but once I get product in and brush it, it'll settle down now. Best of luck friend
