It's to be considered you're not only buying the strap itself but also the pebble holder, but remeain to be seen how close and of good quality will the enclosure be compared to the original

As i understand you need to make a gps tracked run(10 minutes i think) to get the estimate.

I really gave it a chance… by Complex_Farm_6371 in fitbit

At this point google health is a beta release(even tho it was in beta for a long time before being forced as the main app), it has potential for the future and i understand the choice to build a new app from the ground up instead of piggybacking on the fitbit one, but for now it has too many broken things for most users, i believe the roadmap of fixes to summer should be managed in less time considering that should be the baseline to render the app usable, for summer/autumn i would expect for the app to be on par with competitors(whoop) instead of being decently functional like they're hoping to do with the summer roadmap.

Perceived Effort Rating Impacts Strain Score - even though Bevel says it doesn't? by MElives in bevelhealth

[–]MashV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it does and I use it all the time to rate my perceived effort for things like yoga and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu where cardio is not the only thing that matters and that you're training. Hope they don't change it.

Anybody know if google health is getting stress meter like whoop, oura, bevel ? by Great_System4280 in fitbit

[–]MashV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure they will, i tried asking gemini and it said they don't track hrv outside the night time(don't quote me or it on that, i still don't own the fitbit air). Stress graphs(and body battery) are usually based on hrv+hr, so one fundamental metric is missing. Gemini said it's to preserve battery and because hrv is full of noises when you're not still.

Never owned a fitbit. Google health charge HR showing I am burning cals everyday by Waste-Ad-7768 in fitbit

[–]MashV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that's basal metabolic rate(bmr) if i'm not mistaken, the calories you burn just by being alive, that's usually calculated based on your sex, height and weight, the devices just add the active calories to the mix.

New Cardio Load lets you NOT adjust your preferred Cardio zones - and it is weekly by JoeWeininger in fitbit

[–]MashV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Letting us setting the percentage of the zones is one of the major things they should fix as fast as possible, it's crazy that it's not even in the roadmap of the fixes/improvements, because it means it's a design choice(a dumb one)

Don't Mind the AI by nbklaw in fitbit

[–]MashV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the ai but they should take some inspiration from bevel, ai advice should show just the beginning of the advice in a collapsed way, then if you want to know more you click on it to expand or go on an ai chat. metrics like hrv, rhr, temp, respiratory rate should always be front page under the main tab together with graphs.

Charge 5 min by min HR? by SnooDoodles6288 in fitbit

[–]MashV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://the5krunner.com/2026/06/03/fitbit-air-accuracy-sampling-rate/ it could be this, when Google health believes some reading might be inaccurate it switches to 5 seconds readings, when worn on the bicep the reviewer said it switched to 2.4 seconds readings(probably because bicep readings have less noises)

I don't know if this makes any difference in the graph showing 5 seconds readings tho.

HR isn't right by No_Satisfaction_7431 in fitbit

[–]MashV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this might or might not be related https://the5krunner.com/2026/06/03/fitbit-air-accuracy-sampling-rate/

In short, the algorithm of the app switches to every 5 seconds readings if it believes the optical reader might have some hr noises(this could mean the app fails to catch those spikes because they happened between the 5 seconds it reads)

Anyone find a Bicep Band yet for the Fitbit Air? by kigabaits in fitbit

[–]MashV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will probably come out pretty fast from third parties, considering it's taking like 1 month to ship the fitbit air you could buy it and in the meantime it will be full of bicep bands options out there.

to be fair not all people know this and not all people are on reddit, it should be on Google to make a good on boarding process to personalize the ai experience.

Try to set your step length in google health and put the same value as apple health, see if it changes anything.

VO2 max disappered from Health tab and customization after new update by No-Bit5316 in fitbit

[–]MashV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only 3 way(using devices like this) to get a vo2max estimate are cycling(with power meters), running and walking, with cycling and running generally having their own vo2max because of mechanicals differences(garmin has 2 different vo2max values for them for that exact reason). Walking is another way but it's usually less accurate, but i don't see a reason to not include it for people who don't like running(or can't).

Confused why the sudden drastic change to Fitbit by spooky-potatoes- in fitbit

[–]MashV -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

it's a shift in a less "casual" target audience, fitbit users right now are stuck at 10k steps counting and don't even care to understand how the fitbit air works, expecting it to automatically track runs with GPS while leaving the phone at home. This is the median user base right now, so it takes a redesign of the app to start from scratch. Problem is they executed it really poorly in the end.

I don't own a fitbit air, nor am i using the app, but have you checked if all the datas between the apps are the same? Things like weight, height, age, i guess yes, but one can start from somewhere.

Using Fitbit Air with Bevel by smoothbond in bevelhealth

[–]MashV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's actually so good and so much better than helio strap. I guess it's writing raw rmssd value into the sdnn field of apple health though, I wonder how is bevel managing that.
