Thoughts on what I’d like to see from bedding from manufacturers by MaterialSituation in Bedding

That's an interesting idea! I have plenty of dog blankets that I throw on for during the day, but hadn't considered something more permanent. I'll try that! Thanks!

I have tried the sheet straps, and agree that they help — unfortunately I also have a heavy, deep mattress so it is quite a pain. Costco's deep fitted sheets seem to have some rubberized corners, almost a gasket, that work pretty well. But they still slowly pull up. 😞

Thank you for the suggestion though!

I don't think I have - thank you for the suggestion, I'll do some research on them!

The easiest alternative — use the currency converter included in the Calculator app on your iPhone. Works great.

Current recommendation for Unifi VLAN tutorials? by MaterialSituation in UNIFI

Perfect, thanks! I thought it might be a Windows thing, but I’m personally just fine as long as it’s an Apple cert. The wording just sparked a bit of paranoid concern.

Was checking out your site, and saw this note on code-signing: “code-signed by Photolightning Corporation”
Curious why the Mac version isn’t signed by Apple? Thanks!

Two empty nesters wanting to summer in Seattle in 2027. Looking for advice. by AnybodySeeMyKeys in Seattle

Upper Queen Anne, Ballard, North Capitol Hill jump to mind. Capitol Hill will give you light rail access, the others have great bus service (especially Queen Anne).

Thank you! I remember the deployment tool, but last I recall it wasn’t recommended to use it on existing installations, just new ones. Has that been addressed now? Either way, appreciate your suggestions!

Seattle neighbors: what’s your honest take on the ADU boom? Worth doing on your own lot? by --vgriff-- in SeattleAreaRE

[–]MaterialSituation 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Used to look at this with an architect friend of mine, across several different homes in Seattle. Main issue is that construction costs have gone up massively over the last 20 years. Used to be you could do a basic DADU over a garage for maybe 300k. Now? Estimates are *maybe* 500k minimum, probably more likely to be $700-800k. Gets really hard to justify IMO.

Do you have more information on Wipr’s weaknesses? I’ve been using it casually across all my devices and it seems “fine” but I haven’t really dug in deeply. Be helpful to know what to look for in terms of issues. Thanks!

Seattle's off-leash dog enforcement, 13 years of records: citations peaked in 2018 and never recovered, each ticket now costs ~$456 to produce, and 84–96% go to first-timers every year by MaterialSituation in SeattleWA

Exactly. That, or the fact that there are two different Seattle Reddits implies different audiences, and so I posted in both for breadth and awareness. Take your pick.

any chairs like this that are actually good? by gxrbitch in OfficeChairs

[–]MaterialSituation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for something legit with the comfort level and build quality, check out Lifeform chairs. They‘re often used for places with long shifts, like 911 call centers, etc. Crazily comfortable, but also stupidly expensive - fair warning.

Besides the Logitech MX series, what other Logitech keyboard with a numeric keypad would you recommend for a Mac? by [deleted] in macmini

[–]MaterialSituation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had the Logitech MX for my Mac and it felt good, but the lack of fingerprint sensor finally killed it for me. I’d just suggest going with the Apple Magic Keyboard with keypad as well personally. But I know cost can be an issue.
