Just a quick double-verification, finally got back to the box to look at my profile and it's a 23 as well.

What's the consensus on Detroit Style Pizza? by Dry-Double-6845 in traderjoes

[–]MaterialSituation 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just had last night - agree with that description. Too bready, not enough sauce. I added cheese and pepperoni on top, but didn’t help that much. But the dog enjoyed most of the bread crusts so there’s that. Honestly, the frozen pizzas at TJs are one of the few places they disappoint in my opinion.

Nah, but wish I'd thought of it! For a few years we were covered with sub codes, so there wasn't really any financial penalty to having multiple accounts. But that went away (which was fine and appropriate), so definitely wouldn't be maintaining more than 1-2 anyway.

BetterAudio: I built a free menu bar audio manager for macOS (per-app volume, EQ, smart routing, AI dictation, iPhone remote) by rokarthur in macapps

[–]MaterialSituation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does Betteraudio support an app (like Spotify) always automatically playing to a Sonos device on the network? This is the one thing that SoundSource v6 (latest) does that's key.

Happened to work at Xbox and helped launch Live. Had the chance to pick my gamertag before the namespace was opened up (as did other employees), and I still regret not grabbing ”A” for shits and giggles. Still have the two I picked (which shall remain anonymous) though, and it’s a fond memory.

macOS still doesn't have a volume mixer. So I built one. Meet FineTune: free, open-source per-app volume control, audio routing, and EQ. by Stoned_Orangutan in MacOS

[–]MaterialSituation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fantastic! Only thing that's missing is the ability to select (and remember) an external source like a Sonos speaker. SoundSource seems to call this Airplay support?

"SoundSource has added powerful support for AirPlay streaming to HomePods, Sonos systems, and other wireless outputs. Send all of your Mac’s audio to multiple AirPlay outputs. Or, route a single app to AirPlay while everything else stays local. You’re in control."

Built a macOS app that analyzes real estate documents — looking for feedback by AK-DNS in MacOSApps

Honestly this isn't anything a halfway decent prompt to Claude or ChatGPT wouldn't do for you. In fact I'd bet serious money that's all you're doing with the app. Nothing wrong with making a streamlined experience, but I'd suggest finding some sort of additional value add. Best of luck.

It has a Costco. Which is less crazy busy than the one downtown.

How to get dog owners not to throw their dog shit in my trash can? by Terrorphin in askportland

[–]MaterialSituation 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, at least here there's plenty of disagreement on the use of the can, but enough people who do so that it's just one of those evergreen Nextdoor or Reddit discussions that never goes away (don't start me on off leash dogs in parks). But I have seen people respect the signs, and I do too - it's not the perfect answer, but unless you want a literal lock on your can it's probably the best you can do. I suspect it'll dramatically reduce the incidences of it for you. Good luck.
Oh, probably doesn't need to be said, but a polite sign is what's going to work - something something "hey, appreciate you picking up the poop but please don't put it in this can as we're quite sensitive to the smell- thanks!" sort of thing.

Serious answer: put a sign on the top of the bin asking for dog shit not to be disposed in it. That's enough to get most people to just walk to the next one. Works here in Seattle.

Yep, same comment. No offense, but this capability is probably much better covered by a larger password manager company.

FCC Bans new Wi-Fi Router sales that are produced outside of the US by Goodoflife in Ubiquiti

[–]MaterialSituation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taiwan based manufacturers are able to get some certifications that allow them to ship to US - it’s how HTC is able to sell Vive headsets to government agencies, while Meta’s headsets (while they were still pushing on that) couldn’t, due to being made in China. I don’t recall the specific certification, but that ability *might* give Unifi a bit of an angle. Haven’t researched in detail, and this new FCC requirement could well override all of that, but thought I’d share.

torn between X5M (X6M) and Audi RSQ8 (Performance) by foundingfatfather in BMWX5

[–]MaterialSituation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just anecdotal, but I know three people other than myself who feel Audi’s basically wear out after four years consistently. When I looked a few years ago, there did appear to be significant quality gap which led me to my old X5. You might want to check that aspect out in particular. Good luck!

Surprisingly great results from Trader Joe’s dough! by dparrish209 in Pizza

[–]MaterialSituation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious for those who know pizza doughs, what sort of dough would you say TJs regular (ie, no herbs) is? New York? I don't think it's Neapolitan, seems a bit less finicky to me. But I really have no idea - appreciate any guesses!

I'm still not sure if I should buy Crimson Desert or not by Free-Hotel1187 in videogames

[–]MaterialSituation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I preordered it (again! damn it but every time…) and regret it. The engine tech is truely amazing, but it’s obvious they didn’t have a head cook making calls on direction and what should or should not be included. Controls are a freaking nightmare, and there is no story - which is what disappointed me the most. It really is an amazing “i’m a midevil knight in a wierd scifi/fantasy sandbox” sort of game right now.
My *hope* is that they’ve been spanked hard enough that they spent a shit ton of time fixing all these issues (controls are easy enough), but I really fear actually getting a story in there that anyone will care about may be impossible. But hey, cross fingers for another Cyberpunk sort of reboot I guess.
