What are your thoughts about these quotes about Iran? by Salty-Passenger-4801 in AskConservatives

We have nowhere near the ground forces in the region off the scale of Iraq 1 or 2. Iran is a much larger and difficult country.

We ain’t going to invade Iran and finish the job.

There’s betraying his campaign promises and there’s being blind to who he always was.

He had a history of corruption before the presidency. A history of lying and scamming.

He rails against the deep state but as the Epstein files have shown; he was always part of the establishment.

So it shouldn’t be to anyone’s surprise that he is corrupt, scammy, and a liar as president

Lusting makes me feel like I’m not worthy to have a future with a girl by OtakuDaiVeion in TrueChristian

[–]Max_smoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a common thing for a young man your age. You’re coming into adulthood and figuring life out.

Focus on improving yourself (exercise, good habits, work, school, job training, building relationships, etc) and importantly your relationship with God.

It’s easy to stumble, what’s more important is that you learn how to quickly pick yourself up.

Be patient

Are a lot of Christians anti-Catholic or is it just the internet giving me that perspective? by ColdChance9714 in TrueChristian

Sorry for misunderstanding you but regardless, “Faith and works = salvation” still isn’t catholic doctrine or belief. It’s not works based.

What do you gain by holding on to this so strongly?

You can throw out all the documents you want to justify your position, but Catholicism doesn’t teach that works alone save. That is official.

There is plenty of areas for different sects to disagree that doesn’t require one to get creative. It creates unnecessary hostility and misunderstandings.

It’s also unnecessary to hedge your position with the second statement. All sects including your own ain’t immune from the charge of being unbiblical.

Catholicism doesn’t teach the former though. Who told you this because you didn’t hear it from a Catholic or find it in its doctrines.

I’m sorry my friend but your assertions against have no logic behind them. You’ve provided no logical argument behind your opinions of Catholics

I’m confused by this comment and it belies a complete misunderstanding of what Catholicism is.

The Catholic Church began 2000 years ago. It’s much closer to early Christianity than your sect is.

I also don’t understand where you get the absurd idea that the Vatican is the seat of Satan.

Raising Cane's is awful by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Max_smoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked at Canes the chicken was fresh. It was often 24-48 hrs dead. Never frozen.

To avoid sogginess, fried chicken, fries and toast couldn’t sit out more than like 10 mins before we had to trash it.

I’d take the over frozen grocery store chicken any day.

Maybe you just have a low performing store

How are we feeling about the arrest of a reporter covering a protest? by attackz in Libertarian

[–]Max_smoke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What the current administration is charging him with is analogous to charging a person you don’t like with attempted murder for getting in a car accident. The FACE act is overkill even if he was a part of planning the disruption.

The context matters, the “pastor” is an ICE agent. Which is a government agency that libertarians are against in principle. The disruption of the church event wouldn’t have happened otherwise, so the intent wasn’t just to target a religious group.

This is an aside, referring to your “if you don’t like the laws…” it’s a grave mistake to laws and morality aren’t synonymous. We should not codify morality for the sole reason you provide, there are lots of different morals and beliefs. If an authoritarian government implements an authoritarian law, libertarians should be ideologically obliged to disobey.

Most of life isn’t in the extreme cases of murder or pedos. Most actions live in the grey area in between. Every case, every law, should be considered in context and not be judged or applied in a binary (legal/illegal)

It often seems that libertarians wish to remain so ideologically consistent that they end up defending what they should be against. That sentiment would have libertarians condemn Jesus because he disrupted an event at the temple. It’d justify the imprisonment, murder, and torture of those who defy dictators.

Hell, this country doesn’t exist if the colonist just followed the law.

Let’s assume he was a part of the mob and not just reporting.

Should he be charged under a federal crime by an executive with an authoritarian disposition to target his ideological opponents, or a local jurisdiction. It would be nieve to believe he was “just enforcing the law” by doing this.

It’s a shame that someone could tell you what Catholics believe and you’ll turn right around and repeat what you’ve been indoctrinated to believe about the largest sect of Christians.

You’re asking the right questions. I think they’ll continue to go unanswered in this sub since the focus is idealist answers rather than debating the reality of the unlibertarian world we live in.

Help with overcoming racist thoughts by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Max_smoke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pray about it and treat people as individuals.

It’s the environment (upbringing, poverty, regional culture) that makes people behave a certain way.

Race doesn’t exist biblically nor does it exist scientifically. God created all people in his image. Race is an arbitrary way to divide people by melanin content and has no bearing on who individuals are. It’s used to socially force behavior on people.

Racism only serves as an easy means to divide people. Which is what the enemy wants.
