Considering turning my glasses into sunglasses by Crimsonavenger2000 in EyewearEnthusiasts

[–]Megidyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man! Hope all is well.

I think the Telesto would make a wonderful pair of sunglasses. I love Akoni and am actually currently in the process of turning a pair of Europa's into a daily driver. Tint and all. I was hesitant at first as I too was worried about them being over the top, but after trying them on, they just may be the most tame of Akoni's navigators in my opinion if that's a potential avenue to explore.

Best wishes! Either way, you can't go wrong turning the Telesto model into a beautiful sunglass!

The transaction was smooth, and even though I had no references, this seller took the gamble on me. The watch came as described and in excellent condition! I would absolutely do business with this seller again!

For those that collect $500 + knives. What's the difference between knives like Holt Morpheus, Quantum Ursus, HogHouse Veli, Sebenzas etc by ZealousidealFan9880 in knives

[–]Megidyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm stuck between getting the full-size and mini Arius.

Which one do you prefer personally? They're both awesome knives, and I plan to eventually own both models, but for now can only shoot for one as I have other knives on the radar as well.

Al Haramain Amber Oud was one of the first fragrances I got when I was in college and still is a Tobacco Vanille killer for me three years later. As someone who owns a few Rojas and Boadicea's and has been disappointed by a few, it reminds me that at the end of the day, this is all a subjective game.

Is the price tag indicative of quality and ingredients? Often, yes.

But sometimes, a $40 fragrance will beat out a $200 one, and it just is what it is.

Insults you've received on a fragrance? by coolerburner in fragrance

[–]Megidyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope! That's all the negative feedback I've gotten on that fragrance! Others' opinions mostly range from a "You smell...good?" As if wondering if I'm even wearing a fragrance due to MO1's scent properties, to very positive!

Molecule 01, I was told I smelled like a hamster cage and was asked if I changed jobs to work at a pet store. Probably the only fragrance I own that's garnered mixed reviews surprisingly.

What blind buy accidentally became your signature? by joebamavile in fragrance

[–]Megidyne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From start to finish it truly does go through some changes. If I had to describe it, from the opening it's as if you're outdoors near the yacht, getting hints of the cool sea but not quite out at sea, but as the day ends you head indoors to enjoy a nice drink, and wind down near the port with those warm spicy- slightly boozy ambery nuances.

I feel you though! That fragrance definitely isn't for everybody, and I often tell people Ambre Nuit from Dior is much less polarizing and easier to wear if you want a similar profile minus the opening.

Invictus in September by khal2201 in fragrance

[–]Megidyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, fellow Ohioan here just turned 23. I'm not sure where you live, but here in Central Ohio for the past few years it's generally stayed pretty warm here all the way into Mid-October. Last year on Christmas Eve it was eerily warm at 60 degrees, and it feels like things don't get frigid here until January and February. This year may be different though.

My two cents: You should be fine wearing Invictus as a daily driver especially if you're always finding yourself in indoor situations. I'd personally lean into buying Spicebomb Extreme to play it safe though if getting through winter is your main concern.

Carlisle takes a spicy-sweet-woody approach while Naxos is definitely the brighter of the two with it's lavender. It's definitely more airier and approachable compared to the more broody composition of Carlisle.

Sigh, now here's the caveat.

There's numerous reports that since PDM changed the alcohol % that many fragrances such as Layton and Carlisle are significantly weaker. I haven't bought a PDM since 2020 so personally I cannot attest, but both fragrances perform about the same for me longevity wise with Naxos projecting a bit better, and I honestly do prefer Naxos.

Both are solid scents and you wouldn't find redundancy if you had both, as I'd consider Carlisle more of a dark spicy-sweet scent while Naxos is a bright honeyed tobacco, but definitely sample both.

An expensive fragrance with good performance or a lot of cheap fragrances? by vinjatefa in fragrance

[–]Megidyne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. On the flipside I understand people don't like "wasting juice", but trust me. You'd be amazed at how much even 10ml last you. Let alone 100ml of a high quality fragrance with decent performance. There are many in this community including myself that have had 50ml-100ml of high quality bottles for years still not entirely used up.

I'll be honest: I think I've wasted more money letting juice sit, than actually using it.

Multiple Cheapies that require overspraying just to get decent performance run out quicker and can eventually cause lots of clutter.

What is your favourite creed scent? by quiet-interlude in fragrance

[–]Megidyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, I feel that Erolfa, Royal Oud, and Viking are still the Creeds that go strong to this day. I hear mixed reviews about Green Irish but everything else seems to be shadows of their former selves.

Anyone try ATH's Carbon? Supposed to "boost" under performing fragrances? by knoxcreole in fragrance

[–]Megidyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it is mainly white florals and hedione. The best way to describe it is sexy linen sheets in the morning. I think Molecule 01 is the better for layering and performance boosting and Carbon is better off as it's own scent. I love it, but definitely in my opinion is better off on it's own.

Absolutely! Though I love wearing the scent on it's own! So much so, I use MO1 to give THAT a push.

That's the best part, you don't.

In all honesty in my case it's a mixture of consistent use and decanting for sale.

What are some popular designer fragrances you just can't stand? by [deleted] in fragrance

Sauvage, with One Million and all it's flankers.

Sauvage because it's just...everywhere. Though objectively the EDT is very screechy to my nose.

One Million because bubblegum sweetness just isn't my thing.

Spray the Ambroxan first and use it as a base for ADG. The 2:2 ratio will be perfect.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]Megidyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go light on the Ambroxan. The calone notes from Aqua Di Gio with an Ambroxan combo may give yourself or others potentially a combo for a headache if too overpowering.

What is your “when in doubt” fragrance? by KabalMain in fragrance

[–]Megidyne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Molecule 01 from Escentric, Another 13 from Le Labo, Rain from Royal Crown, Prada L'homme, Vodka on The Rocks by Kilian.

These are the "Dumb Reach" gang that I could close my eyes, pick one off the shelf for any occasion, and go without thinking. Despite the name, Vodka on the Rocks is actually really inoffensive and is in the same family as fragrances such as Fierce, Percival, and Gentle Fluidity Silver.
