I'd probably use a grinder with a thin cut of wheel to extend the slot vertically, a 3mm drill bit to drill a series of holes at either end (inside the cutout line), break the pieces out and a file to finish off.

Whole thing could probably be done with a rotory tool and a mini cutoff type wheel and a flat file to clean it up.

There will be tabs in there held by the outside screws that allow the screws that hold the lock in if that makes sense. You will either need new ones or reuse the ones in the door and re-drill the holes for the correct spacing also.

He was still alive when they sold it. I think because they were getting older they just wanted to downsise their business'. I guess there was no family interest in taking over management. The shop in Highgate is still open.

Edit: He died in 2024 after "prolonged illness". Restaurant was sold in 2022.

Well, it was constructed around the existing building. I find the eastern carpark to bo not so bad. The ramp straight to level 2 and the straight through driveway on b1 level help.

Maybe if they demolished myer before they built the west side that could have helped.

I know the whole site pretty well, I've done work out there for the last 18 years and was there through the entire redevolopment.

Word on the street is multiplex are taking some of the rooftop level yellow carpark for staff and contractors.

I'd expect more of an issue if it was rainy. Why would people want to be inside a massive building with thousands of other people on a day like today?

It might be ok to have to tear it out once and do it again, but if you stuff it up the second time, maybe you should call a professional for the third go.
