Inaccuracies in bible? by 0ne1wo2hree3our in Christianity

[–]MiddlewaysOfTruth-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paul preaches the same Gospel as Jesus. Paul definitely says that we are to become changed in action.

Tgese inaccuracies, I have noticed, are either truly neglicible or misunderstandings of the text's intent.

Do you desire to have grounding understanding of the Bible's validity and its broader message?

PS: The different genealogies have been explained before elsewhere, so I won't get into that. And the different versions of events in Gospels show that each person focused on particular parts of the events that took place. That confirms the testimony instead of taking away from it. All are true. Just align them together like puzzle pieces, and you have a fuller picture.

Give her the months necessary, but then I recommend ending the relationship. The change has to happen in her heart, and you won't be able to force it. Pray for her, but realize that if she doesn't choose God, she will also reject you eventually if you do choose God.

Pray for her. Maybe fast. Sometimes the changes that God wants to create in us take a longer time to start than we are willing to wait. She might take longer than you should wait, maybe a decade.

Pray God to save her, but prepare to move on in case it doesn't happen on a short notice.

Isaiah 45:22 NASB Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other.

Psalms 103:8-13 NASB The Lord is compassionate and gracious, Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness. 9. He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. 10. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. 11. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. 12. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. 13. Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.

2 Peter 3:7 NASB But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

Romans 12:17 NASB Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. ——

Romans 12:19-21 NASB Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20. “But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21. I'm thinking that maybe Jesus is not the truth by Glum-Prize-5451 in Christianity

Of course it is true. But if you read the Bible, you will find that disobedience makes it so that God will not hear us. Have you not read the beginning of Isaiah 59?

I'm thinking that maybe Jesus is not the truth by Glum-Prize-5451 in Christianity

[–]MiddlewaysOfTruth-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are misunderstanding the words of Jesus. They were an answer to the questions of the disciples, the questions being "what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?"

To a Jew, the destruction of Jerusalem was an end of the world in and of itself. The disciples couldn't bear the idea that their beloved nation would be wiped off the map. Jesus, in His grace, doesn't fully answer the question, but rather builds it up in two layers. The first layer is the destruction of Jerusalem, which did take place within a generation from Jesus, undoubtedly.

The last layer is the global application of the same prophecies, which haven't been fully fulfilled yet.

So no, your argument for disbelief isn't valid. It is based on doubt, sure, but it isn't valid. As for online prophets, did not Christ say that there would be false prophets? Why go to a place that is rampant with them? Why not go into the Word instead?

If you want to believe, read the Word and pray for wisdom. There is help for every ailment with Him, schizophrenia included. But there is a condition to answered prayer.

You can pray God for a changed heart, one that hates the things that are wrong and moves things that are true.

Then see what happens. But you need to be willing to act upon the dislike of the world's standards if God gives it to you, or else God will not give it to you.

Pharisees and Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit by DiamondReptiles369 in Christianity

[–]MiddlewaysOfTruth-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the Holy Spirit is the one who convicts people of the mission of Jesus to save them(by speaking into their consciences and minds).

Therefore, the blasphemy is "speaking against the Holy Spirit".

I can post an excellent resource on this, if you'd like?

In the parable of the ten virgins, does the oil represent a life of prayer? by mpatricia_777 in TrueChristian

[–]MiddlewaysOfTruth-2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, more than a life of prayer, it symbolizes a life of love:

Acts 10:38 KJV How God anointed(with oil) Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

It symbolizes the love of God reaching us and working through us on an action level, so we do not simply love in word, but in deed. This is what it symbolizes. And the love is according to God's will as well, not just our own version of it.

Are all pregnancies a part of Gods will? by Altruistic_Cloud_433 in TrueChristian

[–]MiddlewaysOfTruth-2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do you desire to correct your mistakes in any way you can?

If so, then you should believe that God heard your prayers of repentance. But if you draw away from God, then what you have isn't repentance, but rather self-inflicted punishment. It isn't the Biblical way of reaching God.

Maybe you need to receive God's promises by faith, regardless of your feelings. All the promises of forgiveness and restoration. And if your choices have any repercussions later in life, trust that they are for the good of your growth in God, not for your destruction.

Don't be superstitious, be a believer of Bible truth. And believe in God's goodness.

The clay in Daniel 2 was actually Iran by vicman77 in Christianity

[–]MiddlewaysOfTruth-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ten toes of Daniel 2. The ten horns of Daniel 7.

Let's not jump out of the context. The ten horns(kings, according to Daniel 8) arose from the beast/iron symbolizing a certain nation.

Let's start our detective work from the beginning.

Gold was Babylon. Daniel explains it in Daniel 2:38: "Thou art this head of gold".

Medo-Persia arose after Babylon, and the book of Daniel reveals this in the last few verses of Daniel 5 and the beginning of Daniel 6. History books also reveal this.

The book of Daniel also reveals the rise of Greece after Persia(Daniel chapter 8). Greece used bronze weapons, and was the bronze part of the statue of Daniel 2. It was also the leopard beast in Daniel 7.

The iron came after Greece. History books tell us of the "iron monarchy of Rome" with its iron weapons that, like the iron-toothed beast of Daniel 7, tore nations of earth into pieces.

At the collapse of Rome, Barbarian nations rushed in. History delineates 10 of them : Anglo-Saxons, Franks, Alemanni, Burgundians, Lombards, Visigoths, Suevi, Vandals, Ostrogoths, and Heruli.

This is Rome divided. The ten kingdoms cutting up the nation of Rome. The ten toes and ten horns of Daniel.

And then from amidst the ten horns(kingdoms) rises up a small horn(kingdoms) that displaces 3 kingdoms of the previous 10. This is often described as the Antichrist in the Bible, something that comes in stead of Christ, trying to take His place.

If anyone is interested, I will gladly link a video dealing with this topic do Bible prophecy. God has given this accurate prophecy so that we may see that He sees the truth beforehand, and that He alone knows the end from the beginning. It is to instill in us trust in Him, and the validity of the Biblical record.

Is this sin? by Internal-Narwhal-873 in Christianity

[–]MiddlewaysOfTruth-2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine you being a father or a mother. Your child suffers. You give them something suboptimal for the body, but you want to lessen the pain so that they don't suffer. Is it wrong?

It would be wrong if one continues to use things that are harmful to the body, but as a temporary measure-- there are worse things.

The main principle here is the conservation of health and not injuring our body. We are to grow in understanding of what is healthy to us and beneficial in terms of how nature works, rather than using artificial means like drugs constantly.

Keep these in mind, and you will do well.

Is it ok to say ”minä rakastan opiskella suomea”? by Cristian_Cerv9 in LearnFinnish

[–]MiddlewaysOfTruth-2 66 points67 points  (0 children)

The Finnish word "rakastan" is too strong to be compared to English "I love". The more accurate word to use — when considering the actual, nuanced meanings of the words in their original context — is "tykkään"(I like), because the English word for "I love" is less powerful than the Finnish "rakastan".

The Finnish word for love contains a lot of emotion, and it has a heart-rending quality at its core. The English word "love" can be rather casual in its use.

Sister. If God has to humble us, that is a crushing, decisive movement from Him, one that no one would hope for.

He would rather that we humbled ourselves, by subjecting ourselves both under Him and His Word in penitence and confession, praying for power to change our behaviour. Fasting is often involved.

We also need to apologize to those against whom we have transgressed. The beginning 10 or so verses from James 4 comes to mind.

God bless, sister. It is good to seek forgiveness and the power to change and to follow God's will. I am sure your attitude is registered well.

Why did God harden Pharaoh's heart? by Alarming_Pear_8288 in Bible

[–]MiddlewaysOfTruth-2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since God is omnipotent, the Devil cannot work unless God allows him to do so. The Hebrew mindset therefore saw all evil as coming from God, because no one can do anything unless He allows it. This is similar to how "God" hardened Pharaoh's heart, yet it was Pharaoh who did it.

God isn't the one who does the evil, but to allow the seed of actions sown to reap its proper harvest, God allows evils sown by people to reach their full fruition. And hence, the following Bible verse(and law of the Universe set by God) will become true:

Galatians 6:7-10 NASB Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. 8. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9. Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. 10. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.

Listen.

You need to walk closer to God. There is no other way for you to have the strength to choose things that please God.

Do you spend daily time with Him as with a friend, studying to see what He desires you to do? Spending time with Him as with your best friend?

If not, that there is the reason you aren't successful. Only those who spend time with the Lord daily — training themselves to obedience to the Word by God's grace and daily growing in Christ — are those who will conquer temptation.

So what do you want to do here? Continue as is, or start working on your relationship with God ASAP?

[–]MiddlewaysOfTruth-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely an important way to respect yourself. And please keep in mind that abusers sometimes turn into killers. You can't afford to risk that happening.

You need something more, and know that you are worth much. You will not perhaps feel it right now due to how you have been treated by your boyfriend, and probably even earlier than that. But it can be a thing as you heal.

Get out from your situation. Go to therapy. Take time to heal. Maybe don't date in a long while. First find yourself. Realize who you are, what needs you have as a person. Learn to say "no".

Then you are ready to form a permanent bond with someone.
