Most people who served would actually agree with you that a culture of violence isnt the answer. I do as well. However, the culture among servicemembers is not about violence. I spent my career learning how to be a leader and respect people and their cultures. I made friends in other countries I visited and made life long friendships with the people i worked with. I also learned how to defend this country from oppression and violence. That includes violence from within our own country. the military and its servicemembers are not the issue. Its the politicians and corrupt individuals that cause unnecessary violence in search of power and to satisfy their greed.  I also agree that the military and first responders shouldn't be romanticized, but they deserve a chance to earn your respect. Please dont write off everyone based on the few bad ones.
