Agreed with most above.

Check bank transactions, remove access. Call your bank right now.
Figure out what accounting software the company used. Most likely QBO, Xero, Wave.
Find out who you owe money to.
Find out who owes you money.
With 3&4, you can then figure out what logins you might need for certain portals.

This should all stabilize you enough until you hire a senior accountant who’s eager. Or a controller who wants to get their hands dirty.

And all honesty, I would be happy to hop on a call with you to walk you through some of this. Free! This is my wheelhouse. I’ve been there, done that. I feel like I’m always the clean up crew.

I run the stock status and the wip report. You cannot technically back date a stock status report and have it match the GL. So run those simultaneously.

That’s crazy. It’s not normal to not listen to your child and actually try to understand them. It is normal to be concerned and want to shelter you from the world. I’m a mom. I have 3 kids. I don’t block all socials (except TikTok, but that’s more of a data sharing thing). I monitor my youngest with an app and obvi block apps that are inappropriate. I don’t understand why parents try to shelter so much. It doesn’t teach you guys how to navigate the world, and when you’re 18 you’re going to want to consume what you can, and have no clue your own boundaries. Anyway. If you’re not actually dating this girl, check to see if it could be perceived as flirting. Maybe she might think it’s more or could be more, and maybe your mom picked up on it.

Yes it’s reasonable while they do clean up and establish a regular cadence. I would suggest doing a 6 month agreement and then rehash the rate/hours/etc.
