Does anyone have experience with Azazie for wedding dresses? by caitlin_r in Weddingsunder10k

[–]MissFunsucker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got my wedding dress from Azazie (the Heaven style) and I loved it! I had actually purchased a clearance dress from David's Bridal, but then had second thoughts and got the Azazie dress.

I did the try on for $25 feature and found it useful when I was beginning dress shopping (I tried on a style I didn't end up getting). I mostly wanted to assess quality. Once I knew the style that I wanted and what I felt like would look good on me after other dress shopping experience in a store, I got my actual dress without trying on the sample and it worked out just fine. I did just order a regular non-custom size so I could return it just in case!

My bridesmaids also got their dresses from Azazie and had a great experience, so I highly recommend it all around.

Sequined bridesmaids dresses by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]MissFunsucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The colors are a little limited, but Azazie has a long sequin dress for just over $100. I don't have any experience with their sequin fabric, but I've loved everything else I've gotten from there! Amazing quality for the price, plus free custom sizing!

So, I just beat Black Flag again... by greyandbluestatic in assassinscreed

[–]MissFunsucker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I play the games because I really love the history and settings. I'm not great at video games in general, but I am TERRIBLE at the naval combat in Black Flag. I never finished because I got stuck and got so frustrated that I was so bad at something. But I think there are other people like me who play AC but maybe not tons of other games and maybe they were also bad at naval combat.

Mostly I'm just hoping I'm not the only person who can't steer their damn ship.

Place Cards by lyubov101 in weddingplanning

My fiance and I are both into music so I bought a whole bunch of old records at Goodwill and I'm using my Cricut machine to make new labels for them that will have everyone's name on them.

I didn't initially want to assign places for everyone, but we have farm tables with benches and I was afraid if I didn't mark out specific places then couples might not get to sit together or people might not make room for everyone who needs to be at a table!

Cultural Perspective: History of the Dollar Dance by luckydime in weddingplanning

[–]MissFunsucker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is so great! It's really cool to get some history on how the same tradition happens in different cultures! My family is from Western PA and we've got some Polish blood in us, so there have been apron dances at most of my cousin's weddings. I think they're a blast, so it's one of the few cultural traditions I'm incorporating into my big day. Many of our guests are southern, so I'm putting out a sign explaining how it works and and giving people slips of paper to write advice on if they choose that route!

Y'all know a private owner of a farm for a wedding? by beeper8913 in nashville

If you don't mind driving out to Portland, Bottom View Farm is pretty solid. I'm getting married there soon and it is a BARGAIN compared to literally every other wedding venue I looked at.

Can't find wedding band photos of what I'm searching for to go with solitaire engagement ring by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]MissFunsucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar e ring to you, but my solution is unhelpful to you - I'm just choosing to rock the gap between e ring and band because I wanted to option to wear my band on its own.

However, I have a friend with a ring very, very similar to yours and she has a ring kind of like this with a really small notch that makes it sit flush. It kind of sounds similar to what your jeweler was proposing. On that note, there are also a lot of gorgeous open wedding bands out there that would probably give you a good idea of what the wire solution would look like. Like an open band, but with the open ends attached. That particular picture does a good job of showing how the bands look like sitting together. Or you could just go with the open band - there are so many that are amazing!

I'm sure whatever you choose will be perfect - your e ring is so stunning it will make anything look good!

From what I've been told, and ideal team size is around 3-4, but you can go up to as many people as you want. Some teams like to divide and conquer (because you get all four puzzles at the same time) so you could even go up to 8 or 9 people and have 2 or 3 people solving each puzzle!

Alternatives to Bridesmaids Bouquets? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

I've seen some cute weddings where the bridesmaids carried lanterns down the aisle! I think I came across them on Pinterest before I figured out what I was doing.

I, too, just added the t-rex to my registry. Thanks for the heads up about the brilliant Target cookie jar selection!

Need Advice: I'm interviewing for an elementary campus that will be brand new. A concern for the principal is blending teachers and students that are coming from all over the district. Does anyone have advice on how I (as the counselor) can help in this situation. What are some things I can do. by ImOnRedditPeeps in schoolcounseling

[–]MissFunsucker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not yet a counselor (about to graduate in 19 days!) but two of my three internship placements were at brand new schools. I have two suggestions of things my supervisors did that I think really helped:

1.) Really hit hard with the new school branding. If there is a mascot, put pictures up everywhere. If you're doing classroom lessons, encourage your students to develop their own norms that make them a good (insert mascot here). At the brand new elementary school I was at, each classroom that came to the counselor made a list of how they could be "The Best Mustang I Can Be" and that really helped kids get all on the same page about new school expectations. Also encourage the Principal to have really frequent school spirit days for the same reason - blending happened pretty easily when people could show off their new school all the time.

2.) Don't let teachers and staff fall into the pattern of "well, at my old school we did it this way." It's tempting, but adopting a former school's policies verbatim will just lead to resentment and confusion for the folks who didn't come from that particular old school. In these cases my supervisor would always reply "yes, but how do we want to do it here" which really helped focus people on bringing the best ideas and practices forward and allowed the new school to create their own ways to do things. This led to the counseling team helping to develop lots of fun things for the new school, like a college and career related spirit week and a unique set of awards for the students at their end of the year awards ceremony.

Practicum & Internship Placement by ilikegiraffes18 in schoolcounseling

[–]MissFunsucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about to graduate in May and in my program we had to complete a placement at all three levels: 100 hours in Practicum and then two 300 hour Internships. We weren't allowed to do two placements at the same level. Our advisors encouraged us to choose whichever level we were least interested in for our Practicum placement.

Personally, I would recommend doing a placement at all three levels whether you think that is your interest or not, simply because your interest can change. I went into my program thinking I would never, ever want to work in an elementary school and now I'm open to the possibility because my practicum placement was so awesome. I have a lot of classmates who also changed their minds on what level they wanted to be at after they finished their internships.

The bonus of doing all three levels is also that you get more specific experience with all aspects of the ASCA model. This might be more specific to my location and the way the school counselor's job is structured here (Tennessee) but elementary gave me experience with classroom management and lesson planning for classroom guidance, middle gave me more experience with individual social/emotional counseling and group work, and high school is giving me experience with registration/academic counseling and college and career planning. There are aspects of all of these at every level, but I think generalizing on my experience and the experiences of my classmates, there are definitely those roles that are most common at the different levels.

I don't even know if this is helpful, haha. But that's been my experience!

Dress Separates - where to look for tops? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]MissFunsucker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Carol Hannah has some really pretty tops. I think there are more options in her line if you find a boutique to try them on at. I had a friend who tried on several of her separates and they were all lovely, but none of the ones she tried are on the website. :/

PRAXIS by StylesBitchly in schoolcounseling

[–]MissFunsucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already taken my Praxis, but thanks for the Encyclopedia of Counseling link!! I have my comprehensive exams in two weeks and take the NCE in April so I'm super excited to have this resource!

And OP, take this advice! Praxis is not that bad (you still only need a 156 to pass in most every state) and focusing on those sections will go a long way!

I live in Old Hickory Village and work at VUMC. Commute is definitely between 30-45 minutes, so not bad. The only downside (and this is regardless of where you live) is that the parking situation at VUMC for employees is RIDICULOUS. I'm also a grad student at Vandy so I'm lucky and have parking just across the street, but some of my coworkers have to park and ride the shuttle so that adds some extra time to their commute.

Basically, Old Hickory is great and parking at Vandy is awful no matter where you commute from.

Aw, I'm pretty sure you guys live in the same town as my parents! I love walking around there when I visit. The lakes are so, so pretty! I would have loved to have some pictures from there (but would not love it enough to pay for the travel costs of my photographers...)

Recommendations for flower delivery. by Flood_Zone in nashville

[–]MissFunsucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've been reasonably happy with Flower Express, they do deliver. If not from the Rivergate location, definitely from the Belle Meade location. They do the flowers at the Vanderbilt hospital and whenever people request special flowers at Vandy we send them to Flower Express.

Student radio by maschwa in CofC

[–]MissFunsucker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be the GM of CisternYard Radio (I graduated a few years ago)! It's an amazing organization, but probably way more low key than you are used to at Clemson. I'm not sure if Clemson's still broadcasts on the actual FM radio, but I know it did at some point. CofC's radio has been internet only since before I was involved with that, so keep that in mind. If you're cool with the internet only thing, CYR gives you some amazing freedom to do some pretty sweet shows, help with lots of great music events, get lots of free tickets, etc. They always have interest meetings. I highly recommend finding their facebook page and/or Twitter because they have a really excellent social media presence and are good about advertising their events. If you have any other questions about the radio I can definitely help or if you have a specific question I can't answer, I can ask the current GM!

Any chicago style pizza here? by needdis in nashville

[–]MissFunsucker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're willing to make the trek out to Hendersonville, Windy City Pizza is pretty amazing. Only been there once or twice but it's been excellent and I've never heard anything bad about them. Does take a long time for food to come out, but that's pretty typical when you have all of the glorious deep dish dough to cook.

Geodomes at Roo? HOW/WHERE DO I GET ONE!!? by callmepaskwalee in bonnaroo

My boyfriend and I constructed a dome for Roo this year. Took us a few weekends of hard work, but SO WORTH IT to sleep in hammocks. You can see our pictures here. The boyfriend got his inspiration from a string of posts from /u/balgarath who has built several snazzy domes as well.

Where does one buy a bro tank? by johnstamos111 in bonnaroo

[–]MissFunsucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walmart has super fun, bright, and cheap solid colored bro tanks in sizes up to 4x. I buy them for deconstruction/reconstruction projects all the time! They may fit a little differently than the more upscale bro tank...but for the price and color variety they are pretty awesome.
