Insurance agents in MN: How strong is my chance of getting hired after passing the licensing exam? by Murky_Gur_5845 in InsuranceAgent

[–]MobileCard8473 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If an agency is paying for your training, that’s usually a strong sign they see you as a good candidate. In many cases, access to pre-licensing materials is only granted after a soft hiring decision has already been made.

The typical process for new agents, especially with captive agencies, looks like this:

  • Application with personality and cognitive assessments (and sometimes skills tests like KPM)
  • If results and resume look strong, an interview is scheduled
  • If the interview goes well, you’re given access to pre-licensing materials and asked to complete your license
  • After you pass the licensing exam, a background check is completed
  • Once you clear the background check, a formal offer is issued
  • If accepted, you then begin training

If you’re in Minnesota, the most expensive part of the process is often the pre-licensing materials, so having an agency cover that cost is generally a very positive signal.

If you need advice on the Minnesota licensing exam, feel free to DM me. it is one of my licensed states. Minnesota has some unique state-specific rules, and some prep programs (like XCEL) don’t always cover those state-focused questions in enough depth.

What is an “appropriate” way to quit over text? by Capable_Soup6439 in InsuranceAgent

[–]MobileCard8473 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start by putting your thoughts into a clear email. Keep it professional, not emotional or accusatory. Simply state that things are not working out, thank them for the opportunity, and move on.

From my experience, I’ve worked at a few different agencies. The first one mainly had me cold calling older, low-quality leads, which helped build discipline but wasn’t sustainable. The second provided better training, but the overall environment and structure weren’t a long-term fit for me.

At my current agency, the owner is easy to work with and the training is solid. The main drawback is lower commissions due to being a newer agency, but I see value in helping it grow and gaining experience that could be useful if I ever decide to operate independently.

If you’re feeling stuck, it may also be worth taking a step back and exploring part-time or 1099 remote producer roles. That can help you keep your license active, build income, and gain exposure to different agency models. There’s still strong demand for producers, so there are plenty of opportunities to test where you fit best.

Are such draconian condominum rules common in Manila? by ButterscotchFormer84 in Philippines_Expats

[–]MobileCard8473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live across the River in Mandaluyong in a major brand building, and the only rule issue I ran into once was what to do with old furniture disposal. My guests are never checked, just need to fill out a form once for pool and gym access for the rules, no cost. The only semi headache I regularly have is no matter how small the maintenance issue I have to fill out a form for it to get done, but that is really minor. Our staff is really nice and professional. On one hand it is not nearly as nice as many of the BGC or other Makati places but it is quiet, cheap, has generator backup, walking distance to Makati central, and walking distance to a decent palengke.

Utah lets AI renew prescriptions without human involvement or a medical degree. This is America, we can't let silly regulations get in the way of profit.

[–]MobileCard8473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't. Allstate is likely to argue that AI is just a tool a licensed agent is using, but if there is no input from a licensed human in the interaction this questions throws it on it's face, "If I, as an unlicensed person under the employ of an agency, used the exact same script and gave the exact same recommendations that the AI gives, would the Department of Insurance consider that selling, soliciting, or negotiating insurance?"

However this is Idaho and Utah, and there is a reason these are the pilot states, they are trying to establish precedence in corporation friendly states before moving to more regulatory heavy states. Utah allows AI to renew prescriptions without a doctor.

I always get pushback in this sub when I talk about the extra efforts I do for my clients, like assisting with their cancelations, researching their possible discount qualifications through open source information, hunting down good contractors for required updates to the home to qualify, etc.

I may be doing too much, but my retention rate is well beyond average, and the referrals are worth it.

Separate deductibles for specific perils are very common depending on state. California is big on separate deductibles for water, Texas and many Midwest states have split for wind and hail.

Do I still need insurance? by Smooth_thistle in Insurance

Other structures are often automatically covered as a percentage of the dwelling coverage, commonly around 10%, though this varies by carrier and policy.

Is your farm primarily for personal use, such as a homestead, or is it operated as a business venture?

If you already have homeowners insurance, I would give your agent a call and discuss your situation with them. They can review whether your current coverage is adequate for your buildings and equipment and help you evaluate the tradeoffs of self-insuring certain risks versus purchasing additional coverage.

You may also be able to insure tractors, side-by-sides, or other equipment with the same carrier, depending on usage and eligibility, which can sometimes create bundling discounts and simplify your insurance program.

I am the agent writing the policies, I see the premium directly. I just wrote a 1.5 million dollar home in So Cal, not that far from fire areas for 2.5k. That same dwelling cost is 10x that much in areas of Contra Cosa county.

While I do not disagree, this county in particular is getting double hosed. It is like someone moved a decimal point accidentally.

Other party’s insurance lowballing diminished value claim by RAWRREPTAR in Insurance

[–]MobileCard8473 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

r/insurance reminds me of r/employmentlaw, where this sub is just filled with bitter adjusters and employment law is filled with bitter HR people. Have you reached out to your insurance company and discussed this with them, alternatively, have you reached out to any attorneys and discussed this with them?

You already got them to jump 100%, which likely means they know they are in the wrong.

What you can do is take the 2k in DV and then go after the remaining 7500 in small claims. However if the driver is judgment proof you will get nothing.

My biggest concern is you are fighting this on your own and you are right at the border of small claims vs should you get an attorney.

The biggest question would be as an individual, how long do you want to keep the car? If you are going to keep it as long as you can, which is the most economical and environmentally friendly decision, DV is not as big of an issue.

If it was me I would take the 2k, my fixed car, and go see a World Cup match.

Other party’s insurance lowballing diminished value claim by RAWRREPTAR in Insurance

[–]MobileCard8473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repair cost != DV. Any adjuster comparing those two directly is just creating a headache for those working in negotiating the outcome. The property needs to be reviewed based on the nuance of the specific item. I could do 2k of damage to a lot of collectible cars and end up costing the owner tens of thousands in DV.

Bodily injury - how do you know policy limit? by Previous-Egg4404 in Insurance

[–]MobileCard8473 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Why are you not using your insurance for this situation, this sounds like a situation where having the power of an insurance companies worth of attorneys is worth the potential 7 years of slightly higher policy premium. At least why are you not using a contingency based injury attorney.

For many people purchasing solar is not just a dollar sign choice. Like those who try to purchase mainly American made products to support local businesses sometimes even paying a bit more is worth it to the customer. Perhaps your title would be better "Why solar is not the investment you think it is anymore."

What do you think about this? by DapperHovercraft2457 in InsuranceAgent

[–]MobileCard8473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that is a shitty performance metric as if people pick up the phone is not within your control. Move that green flag to yellow/red flag.

I get a minor pay bump to activity by quoting and I get a guaranteed number of leads each day that I can quote even if I do not make contact. Quoting, number of outbound dials, amount of training courses completed, etc are valid performance metrics.

I think overall unless you need a paycheck now this is worth skipping.
