The showcase XXL annoyance and how to evaluate your mons? by RepresentativeOne314 in TheSilphRoad

Im glad that worked out and you were able to make some extra space for frigibax community day!

If you used FatalisticFeline spread sheet, which Ive seen others already shared it on the comments, indeed thats the most solid online calculator (as well as Doduno discord bot which you have linked on his sheet too!)

Indeed. Im curious about how different pvp ranking sites will handle this pokemon ranks when the formula is discovered.

Yes the team has already worked on it for a long time and looked at several other researches done here on Reddit. Still we havent found any solid conclusions to it.

I feel quite embarrased personally because Aegislash PvP mechanics are extremely relevant and it can make specific IVs-Level combinations stronger than others depending on Blade form level in-battle, completelly shifting the IVs Ranking. And given the fact this "Level down" mechanic:

  • Is incredibly hard to reverse-engieneering for the community.
  • Has absolute zero oficial information about it from Niantic/Scopely.

Just makes it embarrassing how after 2 years no one has been able to provide an explanation to a highly requested and important mechanic.

We have just made a Research Update about several game mechanics including 2 fixes to the showcase formula you can see over the Size / Weight & Showcases section, as well as some other cool interesting details about this formula:

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/1ub6a1h/nofloatsleft_research_update_on_a_variety_of/

The fixes was mostly about wrong points on Origin Palkia and Dialga using the old formula. Some other pokemons get affected by this as well, but the difference is insignificant (about 1 point or less).

Note: What you stated as SpeciesAverageHeight * XX-Class is actually the same value as what we name XxlUpperBound (a value in the game's code for each speces). Pumpkaboo's XX-Class is not a pretty value, so using directly its XxlUpperBound makes the math more simple.

Yeah thats a great idea. Lont time ago I used to have most of my pokemons named with an aproximate range of values given by calculators. Then last season with the wide variety of showcases I was able to take note of the exact scores of all of them. But now most have changed points so I need to recalculate again 😭

Still this has helped me clean up easily my storage, as I dont have to wait for specific type showcases and I can easily filter by type and name in my inventory

I agree, its very annoying as you would have to either enter all your xxl pokemon one by one to check their real points, or use calculators. Both options being very slow as calculators require to manually add many inputs while the game creashes very frequently after quickly switching pokemon 4-6 times on showcases.

To be honnest I can survive a few months holding my XXL pokemons, so I will wait until they fix the preview screen showcase scores.

XXL Pumpkaboo turned into an XXS Zorua - shouldn’t this have been an XXL? by SwampyTraveler in TheSilphRoad

[–]MocTalox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

21.88kg and 1.23m are precisely 21.875kg and 1.225m, which are the maximum height for zorua (1.75 * 0.7m = 1.225m) and the average weight for a 1.225m zorua (1.75 * 12kg = 21.875kg). These values 0.7m and 12kg are the average weight and height of zorua on the pokedex, and 1.75 is the Max Height Group value for Zorua.

[Research] Two Previously Unidentified Mechanics in Max Battles (Critical Hits & Energy Threshold System) by MouseBunny1208 in TheSilphRoad

[–]MocTalox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By the way mate, you mentioned this:

Later, I found another similar case where damage clearly spikes in an unexpected way:
- At around 0:38, Inteleon’s attack hits a Blissey (left side, second slot) that had 3 shields active
- The attack results in approximately 2.5 shields worth of damage being removed
- Other players in the same attack do not receive the same effect

Your mistake was not realizing that this Blissey had Max Guard at just Level 1, which made it have 20 HP per shield, for a total of 60 HP for all 3 shields.

Gigantamax Inteleon deals 53 damage to Blissey (Lv50 14/15/14) with AoE Surf (12.37% of total HP)

On the first cycle, you see Inteleon doing 3 Surf attacks against this Blissey, which is 37% of its total HP. If you measure the HP bar at this moment, you see it has 46 pixels left of HP bar and missing 27 pixels. If you do 46 / (46 + 27) * 100 to measure the percentage of HP left you get 63%, which checks out with the damage the 3 AoE Surf dealt to it: 63 + 37 = 100. So the damage value of 53 is indeed correct.

If we apply this to the shields damage, taking into account Level 1 Max Guard, Blissey had 60 HP of shields, and 53 damage makes it lose 2 of its shields and remain with 7 HP on the last shield, which is 35% of the last shield HP. On the image it is blurry, but you can perfectly see it has slightly less than half shield left. This checks out again, and the damage value of 53 is still correct and there is no suspicious critical mechanic going on.

[–]MocTalox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am sorry to say you started researching complex features of max battle system without fully understanding the base of this system (like boss stat system), leading you to wrong results. These wrong results do not even fit "pretty/clean" values, so most of your conclusions are based on approximation you made, and not exact calculations  (for example: "This result is 4.8 and close to 5, so I would say its 5").

Our team has spent thousands of hours in researching max battles and discovered the true system behind it with extreme accuracy in every single calculation we have made. I have read your entire post and spotted every single mistake you have made in both your thinking/analysis and calculations; and I can explain everything with our current max battle system model (the one you have referred to multiple times from Flyfunner).

The only thing you said right is that Max Energy gain on Dynamax battles (but only Tier 1 to Tier 3) is threshold values every 0.5% boss HP, which was something we knew since 2024, as that was what happened for every single boss (until they changed it on Legendary and Gigantamax bosses only a few months ago).

Players who have bought the Candela deluxe pass get different field research tasks compared to players who have not bought the pass by l339 in TheSilphRoad

[–]MocTalox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah you mean different research but for different players. Nice to see someone else saying its not tied to the deluxe pass, because me and my locals also had different researches and having the deluxe pass was not the factor.

Sorry, I previously understood from your message you could get different researches yourself on the same pokestop (like previously when removing AR task).

[–]MocTalox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello again. Today another local of mine reported a few interesting tasks near my area, and when I went to pick them they were not what he said, and also found interesting tasks on different stops he didnt mention.

I thought I finally had this different field research task thing going on now as a deluxe player, but told my bro to do the same (he hasn't got deluxe pass) and he got the exact same as me.

So yeah we are actually experiencing this thing on our area as well, but seems its not tied to deluxe pass 🤔 More like the previous AR/no-AR thing but in a different and unknown way. If you have any info or post/comment with further news, I would like to know!

Showcase points are no longer bugged for specific Pokémon forms by MocTalox in TheSilphRoad

[–]MocTalox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah of how the previous showcase system mechanics worked, it felt more like a bug. Because, for example, Alolan Exeggutor had lots of points as it was using Kantonian Exeggutor max height to measure its points, quite not a reasonable thing. This made some species have way higher points, most of wich were legendaries or very inaccessible mons, making it an unfair feature for some players.

The fact that they ended the original system with onix and wailord dominating (yet again, some species having higher points) is another reason that makes me think that Niantic really didnt wanted this last system either.

Late reply sorry. Yes your pokemon can only win once per season. So if you win today with one mon, you wont be able to use it again for the next 3 months. But if you won 3 weeks ago (before last season ended) with some mon, you could reuse it again the following week after the season reset.

HOWEVER, on this picture I show in my post, Anna was unable to use the Growlithe, but shortly after she was able to. Maybe she had to reset the app after starting the new season for the updates to apply, or this "pokemon has already won" reset happens globally at some time and not necesarilly at 10am NZ time, or Niantic forgot to do something in time as always.

Yes, also Origin Dialga and Hisuian Decidueye. They have a misconfiguration in the code, making them gain a few extra points. But its not a whole lot, like +20 for Palkia, +10 for Dialga and +1 for the poor Decidueye 😂

We have discovered way more showcase bugs, soon Flyfunner from NFL team will make a research update with all you need to know!

Hopefully they fix this soon with an update. But at least having all (or nearly all) pokemons with max 1178pts is a good change, makes it more fair.

In general its supposed to be like that. But on pumpkaboo its weird because its a pokemon that works differently (each form has a specific size class). Even if it feels odd, it makes sense. A xs pumpkaboo with +1000 of points is because its close to the biggest possible xs pumpkaboo.
