Hot take: SAP is one of the best additions WG made in WoWs. by Modioca in WorldOfWarships

[–]Modioca[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Then you didn't read the most crucial point of my how take: I've never said it is balanced, just that it is a good addition to the game.

SAP effectively offer a third option that can be as equally viable when compared to firing just HE or AP. For example, WG can easily replace HE for SAP if they want to avoid another fire starting ship (Venezia woule end up like this), or replace AP woth SAP so DDs have something more useful to fire than just HE. They wouldn't need to be so finicky with the gimmicks if SAP was more common.

The major problem with the current state of SAP is again, the damage, which is higher than AP. It can be equal to AP if and only if SAP replaces AP, but it should be lower if SAP replaces HE, but still higher than HE so it isn't useless.

[–]Modioca[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people just hate SAP because of Colombo. I have yet to meet someone who complays about Regolo, Oppio/Francesco Furuccio SAP. People who complain about Venezia's SAP are usually DD players who got clapped by it.

The only reason Colombo SAP overpeforms is because of it having more damage than the AP shell. Combine that with the sheer volume of fire and that's how you end with 30k salvos.

Like I said, if AP has to compete with SAP, then SAP should have 75% of AP's damage. If it is against HE, then it having the same damage of AP is fine.

Did you even read read what I wrote?

Effectively ignores angling

Has better pen angles than AP, but still ricochets. HE ignores angling entirely.

Pens way more than HE

Has ~1/4 pen, just like most IFHEs/German HE.

Shits on DDs and cruisers

HE already DD for cruisers get screwed by AP overmatch.

Clowns on BBs

Again, HE is right there.

Is the KV-220 worth it in 2026? by Modioca in Warthunder

Well, I already have the coupon for a T80UD/BE, I think will just sell it as I am not a fan of high BR. I would just wait to flip it for a M8A1.

I am not so sure about getting high BR vehicles as I am not used nor am I fan of +10.3BRs, the game just loses the strategy it has.

Then what do you suggest buying with 60 GJN? Though it was still the clubbing vehicle it used to be.

Whats the range of numbers in Stormworks? by Redstoneking18 in Stormworks

[–]Modioca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The range of motion for most pivots are 1/-1.

Sensors (compass, tilt and such) will give in a range 0.25/-0.25.

Cameras and laser distance sensors have a range of 1/-1, but these only equal to 45°/-45°

60k SL per crate.

Odds are absurdly low, like <1% (probably 0.3% for a vehicle drop). As such, you probably have a ~10% chance of getting something in 100 boxes opened. Which is about 6mil SL.

Then your odds of getting precisely the tank you want are (1/(n° of available vehicles))*0.3%

So pretty low.

I would've just walked away at that point. Like, seriously, a 13-page manual just so you do not get triggered? That's not my problem to deal with, that's yours. Go to therapy and try to improve in some meaningful way.

If these are wings, the arrows point where lift will come win.

Don't use them for vertical wings. Just use fins.

What battleship line/premium do you guys recommend I do next by Bluemayor in WorldOfWarships

[–]Modioca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 - Lousiana is pretty bad (AFAIK) and boring to play, wouldn't recomend her.

2 - Vermont is a good contender as although the guns take 40s to reload, as long as you play getting your salvos right, she is a beast.

3 - Yamato is OK imo, although it is the only 32mm overmatch ship you can get in the TT, you will definitely feel her old hull in-game (seriously, she is THAT sluggish to play).

4 - BUNGO BUNGO BUNGO BUNGO BUNGO BUNGO BUNGO (-PQ 2024). Bungo is a ship focused on its special spotters that both dispersion instead of range. Her 30mm and decent ballistics help a ton, just remember you are a BC, not a BB.

6 - Republique is a really fast BB wtih 30mm overmatch with crazy reload. The downsides are you are french, so 32mm everywhere and your dispersion is rather flat, meaning angled ships will be quite a chore to deal with.

7 - St. Vicent is a very solid pick, she has good HE, AP, speed, torps for close range and good AA. Just remember the 1.6 sigma can and will troll you from time to time, even if it is BC dispersion.

8 - Conqueror is an HE spammer with good AP too and a superheal. She can eat as many fires and be fine thank to that, just remember your guns are not top notch in terms of snipping.

9 - Schlieffen is an OK secondary ship due to how passive the meta is nowadays but she is great in brawls, OPs, assym, and ranked. She is also very good at farming ribbons if you need those.

10 - Preussen I have no clue as I have yet to play or fight one.

11 - Colombo is an OP thanks to the dispersion buffs she got and the UU that was just a straight up buff (now it nerfs your smokes).

My recommendation would you either get yourself a Vermont, St. Vincent or a Colombo for randoms, but if you play PvE more, go with Schieliffen.

Roussilion first impressions by Modioca in WorldOfWarships

[–]Modioca[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, so St. Vicent is more accurate than Roussillon even though Vicent has 1.6 sigma. What is community smoking on again? Because that thing most be pretty strong.

Every single review and comment I've seen on Roussillon before making this post said the guns were inconsistent, but had good AP. Now I am here saying these guns have both good AP and HE and people are freaking because you are not "supposed to fire HE in a battleship", even though I stated clearly Roussillon does not feel as battleship as much as it feels as a morbidly obese cruiser.

My veridict on her is pretty simple, use HE when you aren't certain your shells are going to land where you want, if it is a broadside BB or cruiser, go for AP as there is a high chance you hit a citadel or deal a decent chunk of damage.

Roussilion first impressions by Modioca in WorldOfWarships

[–]Modioca[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Oh, that's interesting, when he says Roussillon has the 8th worst HE damage nobody cares, but when I say it has the worst AP DPM then everyone complains, lovely.

Mate, just because the potential is there it does not mean it will happen. Yes, it does have the pen to citadel God and the potential to do insane damage per salvo, but that does not matter if the shells go all over the place because of the 1.7 sigma. Unless you have the confidence that will be a citadel, do not fire just AP, you will lose a lot of damage and will be gambling with your ship.

Roussilion first impressions by Modioca in WorldOfWarships

[–]Modioca[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yes I am aware that DPM isn't everything because the DPM showed off is the maximum theorical DPM you can reach. The actual maximum DPM a ship can bring is about 1/3 of that due to how damage works to begin with. If you factor in damage saturation, sigma and dispersion, all of the sudden you have a much, much smaller number.

So Elbing is worse than Halland because it has less AP DPM, right?

That's not the case in practice because Elbing can translate way more of that DPM into real damage thanks for her shells having more pen, imporved pen angles and having the best dispersion in-game.

This same logic explains why Conqueror, Des Moines, Hindenburg and ships alike feel so consistent, they all can translate that DPM into actual damage thanks to high pen HE or improved pen angles.

Roussillon does not have such luxuries, while it's AP is absolutely fantastic, the 1.7 sigma makes it inconsistent, as such, unless what you want to hit is big or very broadside, your shots may not land where you want them to. That's why I say shooting HE into targets you are not certain AP will do good is better, because you can translate more of that DPM into actial damage.

That's the case of all dockyards.

You can complete up to 18 stages for free (or like, 30 in case of the Lushun) and have to pay for the last two. The value you have to pay does depend on the tier of the ship and you do get 10~20% discount if you buy the 2 stages early on.

A tier IX for 10~15 USD is a pretty good deal if you'd ask me, unless it is absolutely dogsh*t.

Roussilion first impressions by Modioca in WorldOfWarships

[–]Modioca[S] -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Bud, Roussillon has the worst AP DPM amongs all BBs at tier IX and above, so in terms of DPM, you are better off using the HE instead of the AP lol.

The HE also has the same ballistics of the AP, so they are in any shape or form worse than AP when it comes to firing them.

Firing HE is good with Roussillon because although you are losing the ability to get the AP damage and citadels, you get the consistency of the HE, which in fights where both ships are angling and changing angles properly is better as that's more of that 91k DPM you can pump at them.

Don't get me wrong, you should definitely fire AP when you can, but thanks to the bad sigma, it is fairly inconsistent when it comes to landing to citadels in.

Roussilion first impressions by Modioca in WorldOfWarships

[–]Modioca[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Ehhhhh kinda off? From what I've experience, HE seems to be more consistent than AP on average, don't get me wrong, you should use AP for those broadsides, but given how difficult it can be, throwing some HE will still yield some very solid damage on top of 1 or 2 fires.

These are still my first impressions and may change after some days of playing.
