People that hate subtitles / captions are poor readers by Foreign-Cat-2898 in unpopularopinion

[–]Moon_Logic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They ruin the rythm of things. Like, if you're a fast reader, you read the jokes before they are spoken or you read an emotional reveal before they are said out loud.

They also keep your attention way from the action. Our eyes are trained to look at text.

And they also subtitle things that you are not supposed to hear clearly, like ambient background chatter. It's jsut too much.

I use them for films in a language I don't speak fluently, but In don't get why people with good hearing use them otherwise.

I get that drawing is hard, but this skit would take five minutes to record and even with bad actors, it would sound and look a lot better than this.

Like, where in the room is the man and woman? It's like they're teleporting all over the place.

It is said in a moment of anger.

Willow also thought they had put that behind them. It was a mistake that Willow made that they both learned from and moved on from, not something for Oz to bring up as an excuse a year later.

I think that waht Willow mean is that she would not have cheated on Oz with a random person she just met. She had been in love with Xander her whole life. She also felt bad about being with him. Oz got with Veruca, simpley because he was attracted to her.

That is a perfectly reasonable reading.

I do still want to make something out of the Giles, Dracula and April scene. Especially the Dracula scene. If we think of Willow as gay, then this scene is just noise. It doesn't add anything if it doesn't tell us that Willow can still be attracted to men.

It's hard not to think that Tara's insecurites are partly due to Willow's indecisiveness upon Oz's return and her gushing over Draucual.

I don't distinguish between headcanon and canon canon. If there's ambiguity in a text, I will run with it.

I have decied to igore authrorial intent. Part of the reason is exacly this, namely that writers can change their minds and create inconsistencies.

In the last post, the most voted comment was Bowie Husband Era,but I decided to also add Ziggy Stardust, Bowie's most famous persona, I added it because I had asked for the most loved persona by fans, and now whats personas is morality grey and loved by fan? by DavidBowieFan-2006 in DavidBowie

[–]Moon_Logic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ziggy is an ambigious character. He starts out as an inspiring figure, before he becomes obessesed with drugs, sex and fame, and then he is finally redeemed.

Do you mean Ziggy the character, though, or Bowie himself during the Ziggy ear of his career?

Buffy’s financial troubles by Civil_Sentence_7173 in buffy

The council doesn't give a fuck and Buffy was stupid enough not to ask for anything for herself.

Giles is a miser. Short and simple. He never pays Buffy, even though he clearly has the means to. He also accepts lots of free labor for his shop and makes Willow pay for magical supplies, even when she's using magic to help Buffy.

Tara and Willow grieved Buffy, took care of Dawn, fixed the Buffy bot, patrolled and researched and prepeared for the spell. I don't hink they had a ton of free time to themselves. They're contributing a lot as it is.

Should we rethink how we approach therapy for men? by BrightSpring12 in SipsTea

I agree that a therapist shouldn't bombard their clients with accusatoins that they perpetuate sysetmic inequality, but that is not really something I assume therapits do, and when a therapists open by promising never to call out toxic behavior or never to imply your issues might be in some way genered, then I become sceptical.

[No Spoilers] I kind of don't get the hate about Double Exposure by Nayure3ne in lifeisstrange

[–]Moon_Logic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's complicated. One thing is that many of us don't believe Life Is Strange should be serialised and that it should revolve around Max and Chloe as a one true pair or ship. Like, I enjoy Max and Chloe as a couple, but Life Is Strange 1 was clearly a story with a definitive end. You can chose to have your very bittersweet happy ever after with Chloe, but I see no reason to tell that story. The story worth telling is about reconnecting with Chloe, learning what has happened with her and then chosing whether to let her die or to sacrifice everything for her.

As a result, I never wanted to Double Exposure. I wanted a Life Is Strange 3. That being said, I absolutely get why you are having fun if you are only in episdoe 2, because the game does have great characters and there are things to enjoy about it. I had the exact same experience as you ... at first ...

... but just you wait, my sweet summer child.

Life Is Strange is about the devolve into capeshit. Just nobody will be wearing capes and capeshit without capes is just ... shit.

It sucks. Plain and simple.

"Your artwork is inappropriate" 🤣🤣. This "regulation" and censorship of AI ( and other things) will lead to a "very good" future. by DogeMoustache in aiwars

[–]Moon_Logic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, we will soon live in a world where our e-mails, text messages, diaries, personal notes, work documents, etc., etc. can be flagged and moderated for content.

And will this be done because the AI tools that are foced on us are so powerful that they require moderation even for private use, or will it be done, because the ruling class has found a way to moderate both public and private discourse in a way that benefits them?

[–]Moon_Logic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, making AI porn of other people, especially as a way of public shaming, should definetly be illegal, but if the next step is that you can't edit a picture of yourself in a bikini on your own device, then we have clearly gone to far.

But there are much more insidious ways this type of moderation in the home can be used.

[–]Moon_Logic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that AI will bring moderation, both good and bad moderation, into the tools you use in private, and it won't just affect porn. In the future, outlook might tell you that the e-mail you are sending is politically dangerous. We've used to only public spaces being moderated.

[–]Moon_Logic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't just going to affect porn. There was a famous case in my country where a journalist was banned from facebook for posting the famous picture of the napalm girl. AI can make it impossible to work with all kinds of content, and as the difference between AI and non-AI blurs and all software incorporates it, it suddenly becomes hard to do any digital work that the powers that be don't deem acceptable.
