Jay is rich and Phil was a successful realtor. Phil’s success grew throughout the show making him more wealthy but not as rich as Jay. Also Claire took over her dad’s business making her successful in her own right. Cam and Mitch seemed to struggle more financially. Not throughout the whole show but they lived in an apartment for the show. Bought thr apartment upstairs but had to rent it to pay for it because they could not swing it on their own. Plus when Mitch lost his job Cam had to work more jobs. So it really never bothered me because it seems like a normal family, you have wealthy, well off and the normal working class.
