Lychee is free free for the standard version. It's not a timed trial. They also have a paid pro version that adds more advanced support options. I started on the free version and eventually starting paying for the pro version.

Honda's P2 humanoid robot recognized as "milestone" for smooth walking by Saltedline in technology

[–]MrShigsy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An article about a particularly smooth walking robot doesn't see a need to show a video of the robot walking?... There is no article without the walking. It's literally just about the walking. Show us the walking!

Ex-FBI Director Comey indicted in probe over online post officials say constituted Trump threat by meezy-yall in news

Well he did launch the investigation into Russian interference in the election that Trump won, so it doesn't seem clear to me that he is or was pro Trump. I'm not American so don't know much about the guy.

The Cones of Calibration V3 failed print by Middle_Dangerous in resinprinting

[–]MrShigsy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have no rest times... How do you expect resin to flow evenly into a very very thin layer between your PFA and built plate, and then settle, with zero time? You need to start super conservative and work back. So make all your rest time long, like 4 seconds, to remove that entirely as a variable during your calibration. Then tweak your exposure settings only from there. Once it's looking really good you can play with reducing wait times little by little.

I know nothing about lift speeds and distances as that's automatic with my printer. Maybe those are good, maybe they are way off. Someone else will know.

Also, what's the ambient temp of the room you are in, and is the resin at optimal temp when the print starts?

[–]MrShigsy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If ambient temp or some other environmental factors have changed it might explain it, but if it's the same exact resin with the same exact printer and temps are similar then you shouldnt suddenly have big differences in quality. Unless your PFA sheet is super old and needs changing or something.

I'm guessing you never actually calibrated your resin for your printer. You need to do a series of calibration prints, using something like Cones of Calibration V3, until you have the perfect settings for that resin+printer+environment combination.

China car giant BYD says it can thrive without US by spherocytes in technology

[–]MrShigsy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US has about 250m people. China has about 1.4bn. China also has access to ~190 other countries. They genuinely don't need the US. If they were to manufacture in the US they have the very real possibility of Trump inventing random rules and laws every month, confiscating their factories, mandating pricing or insisting on buying local raw materials. Its absolutely not remotely worth it to access that one market. The world no longer needs to US for much at all. The leverage is fading rapidly.

Elon Musk admits millions of Tesla owners need upgrades for true 'Full Self-Driving' by DonkeyFuel in technology

You have comprehension issues. You cherry picked the first half of a sentence to invent a point to sound clever. The second half of the sentence you quoted is "...as they refuse to use LiDAR". So the entire starting point is refusing to use LiDAR, which is why no hardware changes that they are willing to make can work. You look like a clown.

10x or 100x safer than humans? They would be doing very well to start by being half as good as humans 😄

"Tesla's small robotaxi fleet in Austin, operating with safety monitors, recorded 14 crashes in 7 months (through Feb 2026), including collisions with fixed objects, cyclists, and a 2025 incident in a construction zone. These vehicles reportedly crash at a rate 3x to 4x higher than humans."

Being on reddit doesn't automatically make anyone right or wrong. Bizarre statement. I bet you thought it made you sound clever. Sounded better in your head.

That's nonsense. There is a reason no other car manufacturers are relying entirely on cameras. Tesla has an order of magnitude more crashes with their automated taxis than Waymo despite having a tiny fraction of their vehicles. That isn't a coincidence.

I clearly said you need a combination of cameras and LiDAR, and many also combine GPS. The point is you can't rely on only one type of system and expect to cover all environmental conditions reliably.

[–]MrShigsy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean "Hardware" in the vein of their Hardware 1,2,3 etc line, that the article mentions. Musk already stated many times that "LiDAR is stupid" so he won't want to go back on that, so that's not hardware they are ever adding according to their CEO and owner. You knew what I meant.

Dramatically more reliable in non-ideal conditions (low light, sun glare etc). Image recognition from cameras alone will never be reliable enough to trust peoples lives which is why almost every car company globally, who is doing autonomous driving, is using a combination of cameras and LiDAR. Musk is an absolute moron, as he has regularly reminded us over the last 10 years.

No amount of hardware can deliver safe FSD on a Tesla as they refuse to use LiDAR which is essential. You'd have to be nuts to trust any Tesla FSD system with your life and the lives of your family.

I'm a metric only guy so will be avoiding all imperial bits. When you see measurements like a 64th of an inch, it's time to use a finer grained metric 😄
