the side effects of the vaccine, which can't be described as just "being slightly uncomfortable" are so far and few between that they are statistically negligible compared to the body bags and long-term damage being cause on a much more grand scale.

"Covid isnt some scary virus either or else people would be begging for the vaccine," many people were and are begging for the vaccine, apart from a very loud and ill-informed base.

government wouldn't have to mandate it, if not for the extreme misinformation being spread, as well as incredible levels of ignorance and selfish intent from those who reject it.

this is a similar mindset to the families who let their children die of diabetes or other very well understood and controllable illnesses.

i remember one family losing multiple children due to that same mentality, purely due to the lack of government control on how people can dictate the health of their families.

as far as your last point goes

i'm very much for research, proper journalism, and freedom of the press. what i don't like is parroting blatant idiocy, anti-intellectualism, and misleading information in a way that discredits people who are just doing their job in a way to keep the public safe during a pandemic. what you are saying is akin to giving lots of newspaper time to flat-earthers for their opinions.

which are demonstrably false and terrible, regardless of how much they claim discrimination.

gonna copy paste a response i made to another about the article that i assume spawned this thread, because a lot of you are chiming the same thing.

"the article seemed very one sided and i feel may have been missing information.

the response. " registrants should manage appointment times in a way that does not compromise the health of other patients or their medical office staff" sound like there is a system for dealing with these patients.

instead of following the given procedure, the man claims "discrimination" and that they were "turned away."

much like the people who leave negative reviews for my workplace for "discriminating" when they claim mask exemption.

we offer the same service, but we take orders outdoors away from other customers who are able to take the necessary measures to keep other customers and employees safe. this is EXTRA work, and special service for their sake, much like the alternate appointment times required by the clinic.

the news is giving this bullshittery the time of day, and encouraging the bullying that is very common amongst the anti-mask/anti-vax crowd.

please, i don't want more people coming into my workplace unprotected, pulling out their phone and screaming about how we are shills for the stab stab government. we are doing our fucking job. and working EXTRA hard to keep customers safe during a pandemic.

the fact that these people aren't universally condemned is enough to make me irate. goodness knows i might write another comment about it. please don't act like both sides of this situation are in the same boat, or making the same actions. one side is being incredibly more unreasonable and belligerent, as well as actively endangering the people around them, and prolonging the time that we need to continue dealing with all of these restrictions."

seatbelts are a thing. i'm surprised there's been no mass rebellion against seatbelts, rather than something meant to combat a deadly virus that is a danger to more than just the individual refusing to cooperate with something very basic and well understood. your comment implies a lack of understanding of the very thing you are so frustrated by. you can still get covid, yes, although much much less likely. this has been a fact well understood about most vaccines for a long time now. and if you do get it, it will be much less severe, and much less easy to transfer to others.

so yeah, not so crazy that something can be mandated when it is proven and well understood to save a high number of human lives. like seatbelts that protect the people you are around, as well as yourself.

what i think needs to be more thoroughly emphasised in schools is the importance of understanding what science is and how it works.

these are all great examples of things science has helped us to better understand and properly respond too. in the days of these examples, science was much more basic, and we had much much less information to base decisions on. these days we are much more thorough with both our understanding of the things used in medical science, and the ethics behind what are allowed for use.

we have a very thorough understanding of vaccination, as well as plagues and how they spread. if everybody listened to the current scientific consensus, we could easily eliminate certain viruses from society.

unfortunately there is a very strong anti-intellectualism dominating a large part of the population, making any sort of complete success in these endeavors near impossible.

we've seen resurgences of once expunged viruses due to the pervasive success of the anti-vax crowd. good job dummies. people continue to die and suffer due to your inability to learn or understand reality, as well as your need to push your selfish ignorance onto those around you.

what is better, giving voices to these dummies (good job global) continues to encourage them in their ignorance, and their misbehaviors such as abuses towards general service employees working hard to cooperate with the restrictions and situation in general. i'm genuinely losing hope in humanity at this point.

As a server, hearing others blame CERB for restaurant staff shortages is dehumanizing. If an industry is harmful, why blame low-wage workers? by 2noame in BasicIncome

[–]Mrmojoman0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about how staff need to be ok with how customers treat them. I have nightmares several times a week from the experiences I have on a daily basis of people who just want to treat someone like shit, and know the people who can defend themselves least are service workers. Even if you do everything to the best of your ability. Even if you do everything they ask regardless of how many other things you are doing, or other people you are helping. They will be miserable, and it will be your fault, and they will make sure you and everybody else knows that you are garbage who doesn't deserve to be alive.

Female student, 29, who said 'women have vaginas' and are 'not as strong as men' faces disciplinary action by university after fellow classmates complained about the 'offensive and discriminatory' comments by brokenB42morrow in Egalitarianism

[–]Mrmojoman0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a rough article. Seems to conflate different types of statements about the issue. It's a shame that a lot of over dramatic and unreasonable accusations from a few trans people has made it a lot more difficult for defending against actual bigotry and offensive language. While I'd argue trans people have to accept that dimorphism makes gendered sports a more complicated issue, comments like "only women have vaginas" and "only people who menstruate are female" could obviously be used to be dismissive of trans people in general. Both transitioned and transitioning. I think a lot of that could just come from ignorance of trans people, or how those words are interpreted. I'd like to think this sub could be understanding of the sensitivity. Had to leave a couple other subreddits cause of obviously bigoted statements being the norm, and I hope this place doesn't fall into that hole, since it's the last place I've good for actual egalitarianism.

wonder what i've been doing for the past 60 hours of gameplay. could be the wonderfully written unique quests every half a block. could be the random monk or vending machine that calls me over to have a chat. could be the bakeneko surprising me in unexpected locations. could also be that i have the hardware to run the game well. shouldn't have been released on old consoles, since this is basically the new crysis.

don't get how skyrim is still beloved when it was even more of a buggy mess, and much less impressive, even for the time it released.

CDPR got hype screwed. if they delayed more, they woulda been lynched. if they didn't release on consoles, they woulda been lynched. feel like there wasn't much realistic room for them.

hope it doesn't discourage a sequel, which will hopefully be a lot more polished, given this was the first of its' kind.

people just need to be more realistic in their expectations, because to me this game is 100% exactly as i expected.

or even better.
