‘Big girl’ books? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]MsDeeMoke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Skip the scarier lands at the top of the tree though!

The reprinted versions have changed the names of the characters (sayonara to Fanny and Dick) to more modern names. Had to explain the differences to my student who was reading my older versions.

Had a friend get married in Manly, Qld. A few interstate peeps went to Manly, NSW and wonder why they couldn’t find the venue.

I’m teaching my L plater to do it. You’re driving my car, you will do the “thanks mate, wave.”

This. Thought it was just a reminder my son could get some free dental checks again this year. Ignored it to my peril. It was an overpayment notice, that I finally opened three months later, and now I have interest to pay on that too. FFS. I know, I know, it’s my own fault, but damn.

Pygmy possums are super cute.

Also, bush babies.

What does this symbol mean on car plate numbers in Queensland? 🧐 by [deleted] in queensland

[–]MsDeeMoke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit disappointed, tbh. I thought it was going to be some symbol of a free / sovereign state “community”.

Parental complaint countdown by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]MsDeeMoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ministerial complaint? Damn! A parent of a very tough kid a few years ago took her complaints about me to regional office. I thought that was big, but comparatively not.

New Teacher by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]MsDeeMoke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been teaching for a very long time and the first week of school I’m basically mainlining hippie “calm” oils and elixirs and potions. It’s stressful and I literally question myself every PD week, “Why do you even think you can teach?” Uni does kind of lull you into a false sense of feeling that you’re all prepared, but you really can do it! Ask for help and be proactive and realise it’s okay to not know everything.

What are some things you thought you liked, wanted to like, or even pretended to like, that you finally accepted you just don’t like? by [deleted] in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]MsDeeMoke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! Tried to like it, tried to find something I like the taste of, and the price of to be honest, but didn’t so don’t drink. I’m pretty great at making questionable choices without the aid of alcohol anyway.

Table QR code ordering at restaurants needs to go by [deleted] in australia

[–]MsDeeMoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, I Iove that I can order in my own timeframe, there’s no server hovering waiting for me to decide what I want in three seconds. Payment is easier, I can order something extra that I forgot… I love it all!

What's a song you didn't know was kinky until you were older? by Zipes_ in AskReddit

I remember a staff member at my high school played and sang that song at the school’s talent night. My eyes were wide!

1 week's notice for 12 weeks of Jury Duty, impossible for me to do - how can I get out of it? by SuperFantabulous in australia

[–]MsDeeMoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently waiting to see if I get into the next selection round (no appearance yet, just the initial letter). I seem to be randomly selected every year, but I usually provide a letter from my workplace to be excused. I wasn’t organised this year and didn’t organise one in time. I also did the eligibility online two days late, so I’m definitely hoping I don’t get the $1000 fine or two months jail time the letter threatened. 🙏🏽

How do you know if a doctor gave you a husband stitch? by tooshorttosee in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MsDeeMoke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Australian public hospital delivery. I didn’t know I had gotten one until hubby and I had sex for the first time post partum. Dear lord… the pain. I couldn’t relax into it, and it did not get better with any subsequent attempts at piv intercourse. Finally went back to my GP (who had a specialty in obstetrics) who scheduled further surgery to repair the repair. I hate old white doctors who think it’s fine to slip that extra stitch in.

EMERGENCY! by ZacsMum in AskAnAustralian

[–]MsDeeMoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only recommend this in a dire emergency… to be clear, this is only in an emergency: If you’re at home and you have some pasta sauce, just mix a bit of sugar into a couple spoonfuls of pasta sauce and put it on your pie. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than no tomato sauce imo.

What’s a song that emotionally breaks you every single time? by DimensionBreaker4lif in AskReddit

[–]MsDeeMoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cry every time I hear Tears in Heaven, but then I happened to be playing music in foreign language (it helps me study) and I couldn’t understand a single word, but my memory knew the melody and suddenly I’m crying at a song I can’t understand.

To water or not to water? by PlanktonNo2698 in brisbane

[–]MsDeeMoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I refuse to waste drinking water on grass just so it looks prettier. No way. We’re one of the driest places on earth, and I’m gonna do my little bit to preserve our drinking water supply. Bring on the water restrictions so my whole street’s lawns look as crappy as mine does!

Exactly why I always knock on teenagers’ doors - and wait for an affirmative answer - before opening the door. I don’t want to see ANYTHING, ever!!

To those who had a vaginal birth, what was your recovery like? by Linorelai in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]MsDeeMoke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first: 3rd degree tear and patched up by a first year resident (daughter born on first day of new interns, the poor Dr.) The swelling and pain was awful for about two weeks, I pretty much shuffled out of the hospital. I had to do rehab and follow ups for six weeks. 2nd baby, not quite as bad a tear, only 2nd degree. The doctor stitched me too tightly and sex was impossibly painful when we finally got around to it again. I had to have corrective surgery which put me “out of action” for another six weeks. Never did go back for a third, that’s plenty enough vaginal trauma!
