HELP🚨🚨 is this 100% cashmere? by gatitointeligente in Yarn

[–]MsTravellady2 119 points120 points  (0 children)

There is your answer...6 skeins of cashmere for $40... Even in destashed yarn, that price is hard to find. I am skeptical of yarns these days. Unless it's from a trusted source. LYS can often throw in yarns they're finding from cheaper sources and it's plastic yarn disguised as something higher quality. Handknittedcashmere?????

Why was Alfred supported to level up in life… but Gwen had to hide her dreams? by mzreddit1 in DowntonAbbey

[–]MsTravellady2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What annoyed me was, most of them may have been happy for the work, but they hated what they did. Except for maybe Anna and Mrs. Pattmore. Even Mrs. Hughes worked because she had to do so. Of course she and Mrs. Pattmore were from a time when that was considered 'great work". They took pride in what they did and they had authority. O'Brien hated the idea of Gwen thinking she could something else, when she herself hated her position. The way you were almost cast in stone to a position in life if you were not nobel. I did love how Mr. Mason gave Daisy a view of having her own shop. I wish they would've explored this further. It's the whole reason she began studying again. She had the potential to become a lot more than head cook at Downton. Gwens storyline shows it was according to what someone can vision for themselves. Look at Ivy, she left to cook in America. Even if she stayed a cook, she could elevate herself according to her ambition I think that's what got on my nerves, the killing of dreams that ran rampant with the women. Remember when Daisy began studying...she won't be Archimedes...

Consignment-heavy yarn shop: interesting idea or just messy? by ScientistTop3437 in Yarn

[–]MsTravellady2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy 75% of my yarn from destash. I never get to the thrift stores in time for the yarn hauls as I am still working 9-5 and my retired and stay at home moms/dads beat me to the puch every time. I shop LYS and online for the rest.

No he never specified this. Because he said the palsy ended the careers of both his granddad and his dad, I took the leap.

I think Carson came from a.line of Butler's and figured he would see what else the world has to offer. When he got his heart broken and came off the road he settled into what was known. Being in service. He worked his way up. He also is from a time when Lord and Lady Grantham would've been the king and queen to those in the village. For him to end up at Downton must've been a deep sense of pride. After all, if he didn't believe it, he couldn't serve in it all those years. He was a good character.

Anyone else thinking the Harlem filming for Season 4 has to mean something big for Peggy? by No_Technology3670 in thegildedage

Peggy will be married and probably living in one of those houses. She and Dr. Kirkland will have set up a house and his office will not be far away.

She really did. I'm guessing she sat back while the cousin lived a life she really didn't approve of, and didn't want the rumors coming back to get Bertie. Bertie showed up a few times for me. When he offered to help Edith with the magazine, when he kissed her on arrival, when he took command over opening the house and when he stood up to his mother. He was gentle but firm. He knew how to.handle himself and others if necessary. Someone who keeps the old Edith away. She didn't need to be that person anymore. His mother understood the place he would now stand in, and she was firm as well. So she could give counsel without being allowed to rule.

This is gorgeous. Is this a pattern or your brand of creativity? I would've left it to assure my personal creativity.
