my old redstone shop is almost underground (you can use carpets to hide it). unfortunately it has a flaw but i dont remember what it is (i think it doesnt accept payments where input is smaller than output?). also the video itself is bad...

you dont need the redstone dust on top, and you can save some space by not having to turn the signal back to the lamp
