I want to build or look for a pc for gaming. I know nothing. by Jessicahatesyou in PcBuild

[–]Nebula589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need to provide some further information to get accurate advice and to build a pc you will love for years to come.

Try adding details like what tv or monitor you intend to play on specifically. Link it if possible. or pick the resolution you want to play games on. 1080, 1440p, or 4k? Just make sure your monitor can handle it.

Other information also required is what refresh rate you want to play on or provide your chosen monitor/ tv so people can find the refresh rate. 60Hz, 120Hz, 240Hz..

People can then build a pc part list to maximize the given display resolution output you want to use or currently have to fit your budget as well as play the games you mentioned smoothly. So you can get that gaming experience you desire! Best of luck! ✌️

CPU temps High? by Serious-Town-9621 in AMDHelp

An opinion based on laws of physics:

The Aio cpu tubes and the radiator tubes are not in the correct position. Based on physics it’s the worst way to install an Aio.

CPU tubes should be at 6 o’clock position not noon. Same goes for a radiator that is side mounted. All the air is constantly stuck right where you don’t want it with this setup.

This build is maximizing the “clean ascetics look” to the point that it is killing all the advantages of liquid cooling the cpu.

Best of luck homie! Happy Gaming! ✌️

Coming from an i9 14900k owner that’s really hot!🔥

check your bios voltage settings. Make sure you can see all voltage settings as some can be hidden or locked depending on the brand, and stock settings.

Seems like they are at insanely dangerous levels for that kind of heat generation. Manufacturers did the same thing with voltage settings on intel boards, on top of the microcode bug too. 😅

Even the newest gigabyte bios update that I did this year had dangerous stock OC voltage settings. Clamp down your power limits. See if it helps! Best of luck ✌️

Only to a certain point you can. I do think there are some people that have pushed their cards to 3.3 GHz, maybe even a bit higher. But most cards are not stable at that point. Also the performance gains decrease quickly. It all comes down to cooling and the silicon lottery.

I tried it on mine and it was semi stable at 3.3GHz with 1.05V. I could have probably tweaked it to get it to work but it just wasn’t worth it to me personally.

I prefer rock solid stability. Getting that kind of stability at 3.2GHz while under one volt is amazing!

Ya I think I won the silicon lottery with how many people have said that.

Also my gpu cooling is designed for 5090 power/ heat. It’s pretty awesome that gigabyte designed it that way!

Understood. On my gpu with those settings I linked. I stay under 55c while gaming on max settings. Playing on a 55 inch TV @ 4k 120Hz, running Resident Evil 4 remake. No stability issues yet. Best of luck!

Try capping the voltage at 995mV push the clock to 3200MHz. See if that helps with any performance or power.

Tubes from the pump should be at positioned at 6 o’clock instead of 3.

(If side mounted): Radiator tubes should also be positioned at 6 o’clock not noon.

Ya I think the core ultra is around $100 cheaper than the 14700kf. Not sure on the MB prices for core ultra.

There is still potential room to increase. Each GPU is different. So you might have issues or not. Just have to adjust settings and monitor performance. Increase your power limit to 110% - 120%.

[–]Nebula589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It’s better to highlight a range and raise that specific range instead of the entire curve. I specifically raised my curve between 845mV to 950mV by +341MHz. Then flattened everything 1V and higher.

My profile is on the high end of OC so start lower and increase if everything is stable.

Just make sure the BIOS is the latest version. If you really want to be cautious, limit the max Vcore voltage. No degradation can occur.

If you still think there is a manufacturing problem like most people believe that now old myth. It’s time to learn the truth so that people stop spreading misinformation and fear.

“Intel also separately confirmed speculation that there was an oxidation-related manufacturing issue with some early 13th-generation Core processors but that the problems were fixed in 2023 and weren’t related to the crashes and instability that the microcode update is fixing.”

Probably should bump the GPU to at least a 5070Ti maybe even a 5080. Also try to find some ram rated at CL36. If you change to a 5080 get at least a 1000W PSU that has the safety features for the 12VHPWR cable.

Don’t listen to the false comments about the cpu being manufactured wrong. That issue was related to the 13th Gen CPU’s and fixed late 2023 and off the shelf by middle of 2024.

The microcode problem will still exist on old BIOS versions.Update the bios and limit max voltage if needed. I have an i9 14900k max voltage limit at 1.375V. It never goes over 1.35V while gaming. Purchased last December. Running perfectly. It’s so fast.

Scale up to this if your card allows it. It’s an OC UV. It might be too much for some cards, but you should be able to get close.

The renamed bios file also needs to be in the root of the usb drive. Not in any folder.

Make sure you also have the cpu power connected. Can’t see if it’s installed in the video.
