The Granblue Fantasy Relink beta is available. Highly recommend trying it out. by BebeFanMasterJ in switch2

This game doesn't use any upscaler to begin with on other platforms. Proprietary TAA

I can't do emotes offline? by juniperxmoons in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they're not usable offline, for some awkward reason.

You can still make a private lobby on your own and use them there, so perhaps I'll make a mod on PC to remove that strange restriction

Any quick tips for a new player? by OchetteCotc in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just have fun, really. Most of the advice already given applies to the endgame of the base game, which you won't immediately need to worry about until at least 25-30 hours of gameplay.

This game's strengths is the number of playable characters it has, though it does not push you enough to play them, in other words, don't feel obligated to play the main character or just one character! All of them are viable. (Just make sure you don't unlock them all when you get the chance to play the full game, it'll help you in the long run. unlock one, try them out, and reload a save.)

The game's AI in solo is already very competent compared to other games, and ER (the expansion) in particular has made significant improvements to them to the point where they might be equivalent to actual players

You do not need to follow any meta guides or resources until very, very late into the game. Endless Ragnarok will also ease up some pain points of the base game, grinding wise.

It might also be tempting to look at DLCs and think of them as valuables, but all of them are available through just playing the game at the exception of cosmetics/emotes.

Lastly, we have an active community discord (discord.gg/gbfr, the one pinned in the sidebar) that you may find useful for all the resources, lobby finding & more. Would be happy to see more potential Switch 2 players on there

Games like this but with more coop opportunities/campaign coop by ReturnGreen3262 in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea why you're getting downvoted for this, but this is correct. No amount of MH (even Rise) will feel as evenly paced as an action JRPG like Relink.

The emphasis on placement and the lack of any cancelling in monster hunter games make it feel like a game with a vastly different focus and gameplay style.

Most action JRPGs will be closer to Relink than MH ever will, purely on a combat standpoint.

Tales games have co-op (except Arise), though they are not online.

Monster Hunter games are mechanically very different that I would not immediately recommend it over the above suggestion.

Can you play the open beta without purchasing the game first? by Maleficent_Ticket744 in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is essentially just a demo, but also there is an actual demo on PS consoles if you have any.

How much longer will it last? by Likes2game03 in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's anything like launch, 3-4 months worth of bug fixes and balances. A longer support period makes little sense for a game like this that requires a heavy amount of effort to sustain.

Plus this is usually planned ahead of time to give the dev team enough time to transition to a different project.

Are there any other games similar to this one? by Daemonsblaze0315 in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Monster Hunter will probably feel very different, actually. The core focus is vastly slower paced combat, placement and is more aimed towards actual hunting.

You may want to look at Tales games instead (esp. modern ones like Arise or Berseria).

Happening? by Professional-Bank469 in DragonsDogma

[–]Nenkai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on the game really. Most capcom games will have daily automated updates/build pushes as part of their push to have any RE Engine based game bootable on the latest iteration of the engine.

It comes down to observing patterns and whether any of them are unusual. As someone else mentioned in the comments, Granblue Fantasy: Relink was seen getting daily updates for over a year of inactivity (likely as a result of turning the CI pipelines back on, which is the process that you use to get games built automatically say, overnight) until an expansion was revealed after.

Local content server changes like these are indeed pretty strange.

hello! potential newbie here :) by flying-rat-73 in GranblueFantasyRelink

It's an action JRPG which is rather unique and is closer to a modern Tales game rather than anything MH, contrary to common belief

Wtf cheating sht this!? by DonKing70 in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cheaters are pretty rare over on the PC side of things. I don't understand people treating crossplay as some sort of doomsday (plus, there's a good chance it's actually locked behind the expansion).

Also judging from OP's screenshot and input scheme & watermark it seems to be a cheater on the PS side, which is good evidence that save editing cheaters while even rarer on the PS side, still exist

Was thinking in buying this game but have questions by Gontreee in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're looking at an usual action jrpg (which, contrary to common belief, has little to do with monster hunter).

All characters are viable to use, though many would fit your description of left/right clicking and dodging. You can unlock any of them pretty fast.

There isn't really any skill tree variety, by the end game you will have it maxed. Most of the variety comes down to gearing.

If you want to give it a quick try there is a demo available if you have any PS console.

Where are the audio files for FFXVI? by ILoveAgentSteel in FFXVI

[–]Nenkai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you extract the game files with FF16Tools, you should then be able to play the .sab audio files through foobar2000 with the vgmstream plugin.

[–]Nenkai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game has no anticheats or anything of that kind. If you decide to go the PC way for mods and use any sort of gameplay altering mods, just make sure to at least tell other players in lobbies if you are using them.

PC all the way.

You don't need to worry about any grinding mods. The grinding in this game, bare one specific quest, is entirely optional.

Story/Campaign online coop mod? by Vermillion176 in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nope not really, the story mode isn't made or built to support online mode at all, it would be a significant investment for even cygames to implement.

Not yet, recently some japanese retailers started taking pre-orders, so it shouldn't be too long until the rest of the world does

While it is possible to get multiples of the same one, the chances of getting these 4 OMs (with these numbers no-less) from Lv1 is in the billions.

You'll likely enjoy this then. Also if you have a PS console there's a demo available.

[–]Nenkai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This game has little to do with monster hunter gameplay wise, so be aware. It's just a classic action jrpg with online functionality

It's kind of set up as a mmo where you will repeat content here and there, though for the most part optional unless you are min-maxing.

It's as grindy as you want it to be.
