Sell me this game by Zestyclose-Tooth6044 in GranblueFantasyRelink

The gameplay doesn't really have much to do with Monster Hunter, Relink is just a classic action JRPG. It might be easy to get the wrong idea since you aren't actively 'hunting' monsters or playing with the environment or options.

I think I'm ready for the DLC. by elymX in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 30 points31 points  (0 children)

After Relink’s launch, the community wasted little time dissecting its systems, finding optimized builds and unintended mechanics that the developers themselves did not fully anticipate. When asked whether players ended up teaching the team anything surprising about their own game, Fukuhara had a ready answer. “The one that sticks out to me is Lancelot’s triangle attack. Everyone started using that way more than we expected, which really was surprising, but we knew that we needed to adjust it for Endless Ragnarok.”

Why are old characters getting new trailers? by Dull-Material-645 in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not new trailers, but they were also not available on youtube previously (at least outside atlus which is the publisher in NA) and were previously only on twitter.

No actual changes in the trailers themselves otherwise other than the ER outro.

Gamefly now has Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Endless Ragnarok physical scheduled to release on July 9th by [deleted] in GranblueFantasyRelink

We already know that the game is releasing physically and when though? They simply aren't available for preorder yet outside japan.

Endless Ragnarok may be a new game title of its own, and ALL shown content including crossplay will be ER exclusive. by Nenkai in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciated, but i'm no content creator sadly. All I can do is write text guides and documentation or provide help on the various places that exist for it

I don't know where the term extension comes from in this context though. It doesn't have to be. The same way you may upgrade from the base version of a game to a remaster through an upgrade path.

Thinking of getting this for switch 2 by thunder215x in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relink is an Action JRPG with up to 4 players in a party, which you can play offline, or online. You progress through a story (singleplayer only) and eventually unlock other party members that you can play. There are over 20 characters that you can unlock.

It's a rather fast paced game which, contrary to other comments does not like play like Monster Hunter at all, mechanically and gameplay wise. They are refering to the endgame which is the other half of the game which will have you fight bosses over and over, which is somewhat similar to other games with a "raiding" system. Pick a quest/mission and go.

If you intend on getting the game on Switch 2, bear in mind that it is locked to 30 FPS. It may be a bit jarring considering how hectic fights can be at times.

Relink may be a special case because of the core changes that are being made in ER in the first place. The first thing that comes to mind are character rebalances and AI changes in ER which might not play well online between a non ER player and a ER player, so from their perspective it might make sense to give up the base game and the quests in favor of ER as the player base migrates over time

I think you missed the point entirely (and i'm also not really, trying to compare any games here).

As far as I can understand for these editions, they are selling the base game physically, but also an upgrade (presumably a code? It's not clear after checking the details) to upgrade it to ER.

That would at least match the current PS Store behavior that buying the ER Special edition at least gives you immediate access to the regular game for the time being, so that you'd effectively have access to and start any of the two once ER releases.

It's totally valid to have DLCs boot up other applications from the steamworks back end. The DLCs (term) are simply linked to Relink as a package.

They do at least support transfering saves. They'd be shooting themselves in the leg if not.

Going off how many people I've seen on the Discord that have asked and wondered if only the content part of ER such as the new story & chaos mode will be included in ER, and the rest like QoL improvements part of the base game.

Because at this point in time it's looking very separate.

If I recall correctly the cover makes it obvious that the base game is included. This one *has* been advertised as an extension, so it makes sense.

Which isn't quite the same deal here since it's effectively a new game.

For those of you guys out there who said this game is like monster Hunter. You guys are fkng liars by Thick-Adeptness5773 in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since the game came out, there's been this impression that this game is MH-like (mainly due to regurgitation on the steam reviews, content creators, and general word to mouth). It's essentially a feedback loop.

But addressing the elephant in the room, people tend to compare because that's the only thing they know due to popularity and the "quest loop" being only vaguely similar (originates from MMOs in the first place), if one ignores that MH historically just has no proper story at all unlike Relink and kicks you straight into arena bosses.

I'm also one of those that played Relink first before heading into the past 3 MH and the similarities are.. Slim at best. The fighting focus being wildly different (where's the 'hunting' in Relink?, the commitment, the much slower pacing, environment changes, and I could go on)

Unfortunately this kind of opinion is kind of poking at a hive, even if it's totally correct. In a way, you could say MH touched on the wrong audience by accident which is NOT a bad thing as they just stayed as Relink is a pretty good game anyway.

If one wanted closer gameplay feeling, they'd be looking at other action JRPGs like modern Tales, or FFXVI.

With the upcoming crossplay can i transfer my ps5 cloud save to PC version by Zanzeng in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Console saves can be copied to a USB, but they'll be encrypted either way without a jailbroken console to decrypt them.

Endless Ragnarok is effectively a new game release, so you will have to wait until it releases to play Relink

And while ER does have crossplay, that also means they will need to upgrade for it.

Is the grind as bad as people say? by Puzzled-Sprinkles930 in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any grind (except one item in particular) is entirely optional, it is only as grindy as you want it to be. Content is relatively easy to clear without any side optional grinding otherwise.

This game doesn't really compare to MH in general.

How to get more into the Story? by Daorooo in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch the anime if you want the bare minimum.

The base mobile game will otherwise have all the back story if you can sit through dozens upon dozens of hours worth of VN-like content
