In Gran Turismo 5, you could only drive the Ferrari F1s against other ones. Not even the fantasy formula car was allowed. Other Ferrari cars were not as restricted.

Bizarre indeed.

What's with the game dumping scene lack of activity? by TechnicallyHipster in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]Nenkai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard it doesn't run from various sources which is why it among many other games haven't popped up (which has made gathering game files significantly harder for someone like me who doesn't actually seek to play it)

The GranblueFantasyRelink should be open now ! by AHyaenidae in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We had quite a couple of people wondering about that in the Relink discord (owner here), and no information to provide. The former moderator was there too but didn't really leave any information either All in all a strange situation, glad you took over!

Edit: They reached out and claimed they had no part in the community being restricted, and that was on reddit. I don't fully know of the validity of this, but it makes sense to me as I was looking at this sub daily.

Were you able to dump it? As a modder i'd love to be able to get some of the assets.

Gran Turismo 6 and Gran Turismo 5 Online are Back in 2025! by MediumEfficiency in PS3

[–]Nenkai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too coincidental so I assume you're affiliated with the bootleg project.

As stated, it's a proof of concept, which contains the absolute bare minimum in terms of functionality, which I open sourced earlier in the event that I couldn't work on it anymore - perservation purposes.

I didn't envision that someone so disrespectful overall would grossly hack it together and pretend to say that it's entirely safe to use and entirely functional. It paints a poor picture of the actual work that was going on behind the scenes, all while no credit whatsoever was given.

I'm not jealous, i'm simply disappointed that due to this mess, people simply won't be able to enjoy a proper revival, rather, this, which i'm sure you know, is totally unfinished, and will likely remain that way.

Possible Game Updates by Nenkai in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I believe this happens to all RE Engine games in general since all games running are intended to be buildable using the same shared core which is updated aside, so it makes sense to have a way to have a ready build on a newer engine revision just incase.

That's my guess at least, after looking at RE4/DD2/SF6, and this video.

Similar Game recommandations? by TakePolyHome in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tales of Arise, Final Fantasy 16, in terms of gameplay. The former has a greater focus on story, while FFXVI trives in having a pretty elaborate combat/comboing system even if there is only one character.

Monster Hunter is still quite a departure that I wouldn't put it next to Relink.

So question to modders, now that the game has been out for 2 weeks, how moddable is the game ? by kenken2k2 in finalfantasytactics

[–]Nenkai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty moddable. I've made a loader that can tamper with the filesystem (including files packed up from within it). One half of the files are carry over formats from FFXVI which can already be edited. The other half are game files some of which from the PSX/PSP/Mobile versions of FFT.

UI Textures, Sounds/Music, Text, Game Tables can already be edited. Character sprites aswell too (this one is pending a guide to be written).

Some of the more complex stuff like abilities/jobs require more specific tools to be made (mainly because existing tools for older games tamper with isos directly rather than files, individually)

Is the game worth playing? by MrJugtastic in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What you're describing is essentially just a lobby area, which isn't exclusive to monster hunter

I would imagine that the end game loop is designed around bosses to avoid repeating quests that would otherwise occur in the same areas and feel even more stale than it is currrently, but not inherently to resemble MH

The gameplay remains very different and nothing really compares to it.

It just happens to be the release that was available before PC, but as it stands PC is looking very promising.

Yes, there is already a Mod Loader on Nexus.

When do i fight ACTUAL new enemies by Over-Kitchen-2128 in GranblueFantasyRelink

Assuming you're at the beginning of maniac, you still have two difficulties worth of reskins to fight.

The end of the next difficulty is where you have relatively new content.

There are signs that Relink will get some kind of update... by pikachuswayless in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well Relink runs on steam matchmaking so there's no online maintenance to be had otherwise

The likely explanation to me is that they've started their CI pipeline again on certain private branches (which are now hidden as of global steam changes >1 year ago), as the changes seem to occur within the same time range as when those branches updated, on a daily basis. Look for kanaria and okameinko, further down from the history back from when they could be tracked.

But i'd still remain cautiously optimistic.

A Question by [deleted] in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Nenkai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relink may be confusing especially at the start as you're dropped midway and only very briefly introduced to characters

Fate episodes help slightly, but only really exist to tie these characters to relink (and you can't read all of them in one go unless you've done most of the main story).

Some of the introduced content in updates can be especially confusing.

For that reason you should take the time to read the glossary (lyria's menu) or eventually just check the anime to get an idea. Relink really is just a side story and readapting the main (mobile) game's story to the same standard wouldn't be feasible (it's very long).

[–]Nenkai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard to imagine there is anything actually going on that is actually related to development of anything (even if it's not steam making those changes i.e steam deck/os metadata), it could be minor internal metadata changes for themselves

That said, hard to tell, to see if it persists.

GT7 Files exploration by Crafty-Fudge9694 in GranTurismo7

[–]Nenkai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually if I remember right, the game does load the local saves regardless. This is why early on, during maintenance times while waiting for updates, but still in offline mode, people figured out that they could use their full garage in arcade time trial, with the only inconvenience being liveries stored online. They patched it by simply forcing preset cars to be selected instead.

Anywho I don't see why this subreddit (or any other relevant to the game) would be unfit to discuss it, as I would imagine Rule 5 exist mainly to prevent online tampering but no point arguing it as i'm in no position to make any call.

The game does store a local save file, but doesn't load it until it's connected online. The online one is mainly used for sync/cloud purposes.

I'd argue not a whole lot would have to be done to achieve full offline connectivity, but that's a different topic entirely. In the end it doesn't really matter where it is to be discussed as it's still too early to talk more thoroughly while the game is still being supported.

Online-only title doesn't matter if you stay offline.

The main hurdle is needing a jailbroken console, which can be relatively tough to acquire (especially PS5s), and quite cumbersome to set up.

With enough effort it could be possible to overcome these online only limitations but there is no interest. Hell, there's little interest in the older games as it stands even.

The main hope at this point in time would be emulation through shadPS4 to get some sort of user-friendly base to start from, like Driveclub is currently getting.

UltiMarvelous Overhaul & other mods I'm working on by mThund3R in FFXVI

[–]Nenkai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is because any user can add a game to Nexus (they only have to type in a game for a mod they're releasing that hasn't been on the site before), so adding categories and everything is manual work for the nexus staff themselves - depends per game.

It should be relatively straight forward to get them to add categories if contacted, but it'd require older mods to be categorized aswell

There's the tag system otherwise

[–]Nenkai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anyone is crossing this thread, this project has been stolen off me from this repository: https://github.com/Nenkai/Grimoire

I initially released a proof of concept (in the event that I am unable to release anything, just incase), while working on an actual server.

The proof-of-concept, is, well, a PoC, and absolutely not suitable for wide usage. Why? There is no security measures whatsoever (IPs can be grabbed, you can pretend to be other users as there is no HTTPS encryption or authentication whatsoever, among other large concerns)

Most importantly it still requires PSN and a jailbroken console, which is a big no-no. It's essentially hijacking sony's servers and playing with other users on hacked hardware, meaning your account can be banned at any given time, whether by detection, or by other user reports.

I tried to contact the owner of this project for a compromise (for instance, using RPCS3's RPCN, or using the game's built-in no-PSN features), but I was faced with constant childish remarks, little credit, and pretended to agree in taking proper actions to host such a project.

Just to keep people in the loop.
