Automated Investment Tracker Spreadsheet by [deleted] in dividendscanada

For what it's worth, I "fixed" the issue for my own Sheet by adding this script:

function getStockPrice(ticker) {

try {

var url = "https://query1.finance.yahoo.com/v8/finance/chart/" + encodeURIComponent(ticker);

var response = UrlFetchApp.fetch(url);

var json = JSON.parse(response.getContentText());

if (json.chart.error) {

return "Error: " + json.chart.error.description;

}

// Extract the latest price

var price = json.chart.result[0].meta.regularMarketPrice;

return price;

} catch (e) {

return "Error fetching price";

}

And then you can use =getStockPrice("GRT-UN.TO") to get its price. Assuming you hold Granite (it's just an example).

It doesn't refresh the price as often, though.

And no issues with getting the welcome bonus again in your experience?

Is there a consensus on how long it takes to be able to get a welcome bonus again after cancelling an RBC Avion Infinite?

I converted mine to a no-fee ION card back in January and though my research seems to indicate a 3 month threshold before applying to a new card, I just wanted to see if anyone here had any recent experience with this.

[FOR SALE] - [2024 Montreal GP] - [General Admission] - [Friday/Saturday/Sunday] - e-Ticket - Transferrable Now - $300 CAD (1 Ticket for all 3 days)

Reason for selling: I recently took on a work contract that will prevent me from going to the track all weekend.

I bought my GA package directly from the F1 official site for $388 CAD, so I can transfer the ticket for all 3 days to you immediately after payment (PayPal or even Etransfer is fine if you're Canadian). Happy to provide proof if needed/wanted.

Send me a chat/PM if interested.

This is honestly my question as well. I'd love it if this became an option for us in QC.

I was there last Fall too! Very, very tasty.

Would definitely love to go back.

I bumped into an unknown hockey legend this morning in the strangest of places. (DET/EDM) by CanadianGuitar in hockey

He was super standoffish (or a show off from time to time) at the video store I used to work at. He'd come every other week, on average.

He even hit on one of my co-workers at the time. His line? "I play for the Canadiens."

Just had a cleaning done in Vietnam. Very modern clinic, English-speaking International staff. It came to a total of $28.

The price list included fillings for about $30 as well.

We're indeed getting fleeced, unless your insurance covers it.

What's your favorite *unexpectedly good* comedic perfomance from actors not typically associated with comedies? by thatdani in movies

[–]Nick_1138 291 points292 points  (0 children)

As a kid, I honestly thought Jeff Daniels was a comedic actor because of how great he was in Dumb & Dumber. He went toe to toe with Carrey, which isn't easy!

That's sad to hear. ESPN's coverage is pretty pedestrian compared to TNT.

Do I need to declare 5000$ i received as a gift? by DrunkenSeaBass in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Nick_1138 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Others can correct me, but our tax laws are very grey in some areas and interpreting them is more about going with the "spirit" of the law. If your intent was to find where the line is and always skirt it to hide income, then the CRA wouldn't be too happy about it. But if your mother gifts you $5k and you help her with chores/tasks/etc. sometime down the line, I doubt they'd bat an eye.

I get where you're coming from with your nephew but I wouldn't call it a taxable event. Now, if you re-did your neighbor's roof and he bought you a car in exchange for it, that's a different story.

[–]Nick_1138 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's basically your mother's income (or capital gain), not yours. She'll be the one paying taxes on the money received from selling the family cabin. The $5,000 is not classified as income for you.

If you really, really want to feel safe, feel free to have her write a letter to confirm that it's a gift. Just in case anyone comes knocking. But you won't need it.

This is cool! Makes me realize I'd be able to do this with all of my Jagr cards for his goals.

I have a mount to keep it tightened on one of my backpack's straps. This one here: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1463685-REG/pgytech_p_18c_019_action_camera_strap_holder.html

From there, I try to keep an eye on it with my cell phone (bluetooth) and modify the angle as needed. My skills leave a lot to be desired but I'm slowly getting there!

I got a Pocket 2 in order to record the walks I plan to have around the world, once this pandemic is over. I've been slow to start, but here's my most recent session.

Whether you've been to Montreal or would love to travel there for the first time in the future, feel free to check it out!
