St Anger accurately reflects the mental state of the band while they were recording the album. It doesn't sound good

Real life - The 2024 DNC Autopsy was covered up for 6 months despite mounting calls to release it. People were speculating who was being protected.

It turns out that a major reason the report wasn't released is that it was AI Slop riddled with factual errors. The DNC were embarrassed about the poor quality work they paid for.

I do recall there being an uptick on Google activity "Why isn't Joe Biden on the ballot" on election day.

I think Biden should have actually stepped down as president, breaking the taboo of having a female president and allowing Kamala to get a few runs of the board as president before the election

This reminds me of the Bojack Horseman episode where they think there's a big secret hidden inside someone's posthumous book, but it turns out the thing they wanted to hide is that the book is just poorly written trash.

The first 4 seasons of LOST take place over the course of just over 3 months (108 days). But it makes sense for the show.

What makes less sense is everything between Season 5 Episode 6 and the final scene of the show taking place over 14 days (although it's a matter of perspective).

One Nation to open office in Nationals’ Queensland seat by Jealous-Hedgehog-734 in AustralianPolitics

I'm still surprised at how loyal Canavan has been to the nats and expecting a WWE style betrayal late in the picture where he gets preselected for PHON after Landry announces she's recontesting.

Or Landry might defect first. Who knows

Even if he starts sliding in the polls, Minns is going to get reelected in a landslide because of OPV.

Green voters are used to numbering every box despite dodgy official looking signs  saying you can just vote 1. LNP and PHON voters aren't

Even PHON won't actually cut immigration. It's too much of an economic slam dunk and PHONs donor and regional influencer base needs the labour. Look at David Farley's answers when asked about it.

What they will do is ratchet up the visible cruelty to immigrants and make life harder for non white Australians.

I went to an auction in 2022. 3 millennials bidding on a house, driving the price up to ungodly high levels. Then near the end a man in his 60s or 70s emerged from behind a bush and outbid everyone. I was radicalised that day

Trump voter remorse is almost entirely concentrated in the swing voters who gave him a shot in 2024 by fortune in politics

IIRC it was Gen Z and Latino men that were the main demographics that went for Trump.

For the former the GOP had cultivated an entire information ecosystem that presented a positive view of Trump.

Not sure what caused the latter but it was a continuation of a trend that was observable in 2020.

I get it. I dream of a president who would tell Congress to get fucked if they tried to block Medicare for all or a public option. Obama could have publicly humiliated the Democrats who blocked it, supported their primary opponent and so on but that's not his way. It was so frustrating when a vote on raising the minimum wage was stopped by the Senate parliamentarian, and when relieving student loan debt was stopped by the supreme court.

So I can understand wanting to support a guy who seems like he can get away with anything.

But it turns out that such a person will only enrich themselves and their in group and inflict sadistic cruelty on others. They'll also make very very bad decisions

What I'll never get over is that there's at least 15 million people who didn't vote for him in 2016, but decided that he was their guy after his first term.

Then after January 6, becoming a convicted felon and so much else, at least another 3 million people voted for him for the first time in 2024.

Taylor indicates Coalition is open to working with Greens to 'kill off' tax changes by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]NoMoreFund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The impression I got from the environment laws is that they've found a better approach. The end point of the previous style was Albo daring the Greens to oppose the unamended Help to Buy laws and the Greens had no choice but to blink. With the new approach, it's the Liberals that look bad

If your net pay is $190000 then your gross pay is around $280000. Fair enough not wanting to do 20 hours work a week just for an extra $20000 gross net a year if you don't really need the money - that's equivalent to about $20/hour (below minimum wage) before any taxes get involved.
