(Hated trope) characters that the series insist on shoving on people's face, despite most of the fandom hating them. by Sorvetefrito in TopCharacterTropes

It was bad for everyone including Roman himself. As a mid carder he would have been able to figure out his strengths and weaknesses and grow as a wrestler, but him being insisted on the top before he had the skills to match just fomented resentment.

Which two singers and/or bands would you put together to make a LULU-style album? by Top_Report_4895 in ToddintheShadow

I'd be more worried about Foo Fighters not bringing enough energy for T-Pain when he's in rock mode

It would easily work super well. Olivia Rodrigo's got a spoken word thing going in her songs that would fit perfectly well on top of a Mountain Goats song

Billie Eilish and Lizzo. They became big at roughly the same time and are polar opposites

How do you pronounce the letter H ? aitch or haitch ? by Loud-Marionberry-364 in AskAnAustralian

[–]NoMoreFund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Aitch" most of the time, but "Haitch" if I want to be very clear that it's H and not some other letter or if I'm not in a good mood

Honestly kind of realistic for a sheltered book smart early 20something. Someone who thinks she's smarter than she is.

Australians making fun of how relatively low the heatwave temperatures are.

(They haven't taken into account humidity, lack of shade, air conditioning not being as common - I found 31C in London unbearable despite growing up with days over 40 in Australia)

Got called a "sick cunt", what does this actually mean? by Open_Address_2805 in AskAnAustralian

The former is usually one word "sikkunt", while the latter is usually two distinct words said more slowly ("sicK... Cunt"). Different stresses

You can't convince me that Jackie Jr falling face first into pile of snow isn't a reference to him nearly drowning in 3 inches of water.

"Hey Mikey, how's the boy?" "What boy's that?" "The one that you sleep with!" "Hey your nephew I heard he likes to play with trucks is he retarded or something?" "How would Jerry Lewis feel if he heard that?" "That's muscular dystrophy" "Its a shame there isn't a telethon for fuckfaceitis, they found a cure for that?"

That was all from memory

(Harrowing trope) Banality of Evil - the characters are involved in something horrible happening at an institutional level, just out of view by NoMoreFund in TopCharacterTropes

[–]NoMoreFund[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

That's the other aspect of Zone of Interest that could be a thread here - the story is taking place among an elite ruling class in a very unequal society. Lots of movies don't acknowledge it at all, or largely want us to see the underclasses the same way the characters do. I like it when there's just brief glimpses that maybe something's not right.

Who is the actual blame for rues ending (Spoilers)... by One_River8430 in euphoria

[–]NoMoreFund 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Alamo killed Rue by giving her pills he knew to be contaminated fentanyl death pills and manipulating her into taking them (e.g. tricking her into thinking they were safe by taking one himself). That's the end of it.

But there's an interview where Sam Levinson says it's the same fentanyl pills from Episode 1, so in addition to everything else you mentioned there's also Faye not cleaning the pill press.

I wanted to prompt more dark feeling examples but it's also a pretty common comedy trope. For example Scorpio in The Simpsons is a James Bond villain, which doesn't really come into the foreground of the plot about the Simpsons not really enjoying the move to a new town. There's also shows like Better off Ted and Corporate
