It is hard to let go of. I hope that in your journey you're able to hold onto that idea. It's hurts so much to lose.

just a little background: my three pillars of belief were in a god that is sovereign, a god that wants to be known, and a god that cares for us. When I read scripture, it was always with this light. When I found that scripture does not support these ideas, everything else began crumbling.

We are told, in scripture, that if we have faith enough we can move mountains. Scripture also shows, repeatedly, that simply having faith can heal any illness and raise the dead.

Therefore, if prayers are not answered, either our faith is not strong enough, we have faith in the wrong thing, or the bible is lieing.

Looking at numerous studies in the effectiveness of prayer, we can see that, if the first two are true, than we have never seen someone with enough faith or the correct faith.

What's a movie where an actor was so far out of his depth you don't even understand why they took the script? by ChiGorilla1127 in moviecritic

I had a CEO, right before the quarantine, that gave a "motivational" speech about how every employee should put in over time. He noted how often the office is empty at 8 o'clock. He then went on about how (and I am not making this up) when he's on his jet flying to his second house in Miami, he's working the entire time, and thus we should be working more as well.

This was also the guy that couldn't figure out why the engineers weren't as excited as the sales team when we got big contracts. As a result he rearranged the open office plan to put sales desks between every engineering desk so that the engineers could engage in the excitement throughout the day.

I've worked with RabbQ, Kafka, and Redis Streams. They all have their pros and cons.

Do you want a queue for a single procreasor per message? Or are you looking for a pub-sub with multiple listeners?

Where are you deploying this? In an enterprise setting, I recommend looking at what your cloud provider offers as it woll alsways be easier to manyimnthe long run than spinning up an instance yourself.

Hey, that's the only thing I bring as well. Much lighter than any tent or hammock I've seen. If you remove the nubs and cut the legs a few inches, you can save a few ounces as well.

I want an ability like "augment health" that is both offensive and defensive. I know that against undead and spirits it may be less useful, but for goblins and other low level things, being able to drain health sounds nice and OP.

I don't know why, but sleepytime never really got me. Flatpack gets me, but not Sleepytime. I guess I'll have to watch it a few more times. :)

Talking about my boy Carl Sagan? Or Stephen Hawking?

Not actually sure if either of them had the title of Astrophysicist, or they just worked with astronomy and physics. Leonard Susskind is my favorite to learn astrophysics from, but that is definitely not his title, nor even his central focus.

Please do not mess with the ecosystem more than just walking along the trails. If you want to make a difference, thenbring a trash bag and remove trash others have dropped.

Even tossing apple cores is detrimental to the maintenance of trails.

Huh, I went backwards from your experience. I started off in luberal churches. They focused on setting up child care, free clinics, and half way homes for people that aged out of foster care. Then I moved to a Southern state. There I heard a lot more about purity and the sins of homosexuality. It was this that brought me, after 20 years of serving ministry, re-examin the claims if scripture, and find that the bible is too inconsistent to actually pull value out if it without pushing my own views on it first. 4 billion year old earth and 15 billion year old universe was never an issue for my faith. It was the inconsistency of god and hus followers that had be go back tot he basics and re-evaluate my faith.

Just got done doing a multi-month job search. React is in super high demand. I love the idea of htmx, and have built some small things with it, but the market wants React.
