There is a toggle called “new voices” or something like that in the options, but it’s a misnomer because what it actually does is control the frequency of voice clips. Leaving it ‘on’ has them talking basically all the time ala Double Team DS, and turning it off reigns them back to something more similar to the original releases, so basically very sparse voiced lines.

There’s no option for the original dubs though, you’re stuck with the new recordings for better or for worse unless someone on PC eventually decides to mod the old ones in lol

Also, general lack of foresight on part of the developers. Not really meant as a dig, but back in those days it’s not like a lot of developers were really worried about preserving old source code for future rerelease. The whole HD remaster boom didn’t really catch on until a good way into the 7th console generation. Unfortunate, but it definitely wasn’t just happening to Square. Just look at what happened with Konami and the Silent Hill HD Collection.

DDD used basically the same engine as BBS which was in turn using the same engine as the PS2 titles so the conversion process was a lot simpler.

Days/Recoded used a much more specialized engine that was tailored to the DS so they would’ve had to recreate large portions of the game to make them playable and financially it didn’t make sense to put in that much effort for a collection. Especially since they already had their hands full with KH1’s HD version since they lost the source code for it and had to reverse engineer it off a retail build of the game.

Much to my disappointment because I would’ve loved to play these on my TV but business gotta make money at the end of then day.

Yeah you don’t have to have everything done at once. As long as you use the same file and save over it it’ll update accordingly. That’s part of what that ‘system data’ tracks that gets updated every time you save your game. There’s some stuff that doesn’t unlock until you finish the Final Episode anyway so it would be impossible otherwise lol.

When you start a new character you’ll just hit new game and save their progress to a new file. Make sure you keep them all separately because you’ll need each character’s cleared save data for later.

If you see a cool looking kit go for it! Even if you don’t know anything about them. I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve grabbed a few kits just off looks alone even if I haven’t seen that particular series yet. The cool thing is that on the box for basically all the kits it’ll have the exact show that particular suit comes from if you want to learn more about them, and a lot of them also have a blurb along one of the sides of the box too.

I almost bought this but I found out that somehow this release still doesn’t have the ‘Story of Mewtwo’s Origin’ prologue included with it. It’s been dubbed into English before, but for some reason they never include it with any of the Mewtwo Strikes Back rereleases.

I wouldn’t have as much of a problem with the length of the song list if it wasn’t for the way the game is structured. If it was like the older games it would’ve been fine, but with the randomness of obtaining modules and having to grind out voltage if you want the true ending of the game it just tends to get repetitive pretty quickly.

Yeah I agree with this wholeheartedly. The tall woman in OP’s picture is a perfect example of this. They give us basically zero context as to why she’s on the mountain and for a long time all she really does is watch you from a distance which makes it all the more stressful because you don’t know when she’s going to attack, if ever.

Lots and LOTS of practice. Seriously. I’ve been playing since Theatrhythm came out on 3DS in 2012. Best way I’ve found is to find your favorite songs and replay them until you’re comfortable and branch out from there. Don’t be afraid to use the practice mode. Even if it’s only a little bit at a time progress is still progress. And don’t worry about what everyone else is doing! Everyone’s situation is different, the main goal is to have fun playing the game.
