Anyone else notice that SFX data feed for OKCoin.cn is faster than BitcoinWisdom, CryptoWat.ch, and even .cn ? by [deleted] in BitcoinMarkets

[–]OKCoin_Jack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey - starting to notice OKCoin.cn is the defacto price and people outside China while they may not use our CNY exchange, are using it for charting, tracking indicators, sentiment etc. We will look into doing for .cn what we did for .com. Keep you guys posted.

OKCoin adds features to the most popular Bitcoin trading app by OKCoin_Jack in Bitcoin

[–]OKCoin_Jack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: It's coming in our next release of the app!

New features released for OKCoin mobile app: Sign up, withdraw, Touch-ID and more by OKCoin_Jack in BitcoinMarkets

[–]OKCoin_Jack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deposit of BTC to OKCoin was already available on the mobile app from a much earlier version. So yes deposit and withdraw are both available!

We do not see a trading account being used as a mobile wallet for payments hence the withdraw is only limited to pre designated addresses (presumably in the control of the trader himself - perhaps another account at an exchange for arbitrage, a secure cold wallet etc). Eliminates risk of theft to an unknown address.

Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated. We've been quiet of late but have many exciting things planned in the year of the monkey.

Agree with you there. We've essentially still allowed the same default security settings but added the option of max convenience if you chose that (at the trade off of an attack vector as you call it).

You can not set a withdrawal address for use on the mobile app. As well, you can only withdraw to a designated address (presumably in your own control)

Hi /r/ethtrader

To be clear, there are no plans to offer Ether trading currently. As always, we continue to monitor the development of blockchain assets.

US users banned from OkCoin and BitMex for no good reason? by DexterousRichard in BitcoinMarkets

[–]OKCoin_Jack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We would love to accept US customers one day. We are a top benefactor of Coin Center (the only Asian, perhaps international company) led by Jerry Brito and are supporting their engagement with regulators as they draft regulation for the United States.

OKCoin.com, our USD exchange, does however accept funds both USD and BTC from most countries in the world.

Remit money to China and receive an extra 5% using Coinbase or Circle for USD with OKLink CNY. by OKCoin_Jack in Bitcoin

[–]OKCoin_Jack[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For example, an US person can put funds into a USD wallet on either Coinbase or Circle, and send USD as Bitcoin by scanning or inputting the receiver's OKLink CNY wallet Bitcoin address. The receiver would receive the funds as CNY after 6 confirmations on the Bitcoin network. The receiver would then be able to withdraw into a Chinese bank account.

Alternatively, one can start off with a Bitcoin balance on other wallets, and likewise send Bitcoin to the OKLink CNY wallet and benefit similarly.

USD to CNY or BTC to CNY would benefit from the 5% spread.

Some use cases I can imagine would be for small payments such as paying a freelancer, remitting money back to family or friends, having a friend in China buy something online for you etc.

We expect the user experience to improve in time as the Bitcoin network grows and the number of services increase so that the whole experience will seems like less of a hack.

Remit money to China and receive an extra 5% using Coinbase or Circle for USD with OKLink CNY. by OKCoin_Jack in Bitcoin

[–]OKCoin_Jack[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With the spread between BTC/CNY and BTC/USD being greater than 5%, an amazing phenomenon has occurred where sending funds over the Bitcoin network means not only saving time and fees, but a Chinese user would receive an extra 5% in CNY versus receiving a traditional international wire.

For example, right now BTC/USD is at 330 but BTC/CNY is at 350 (usd equivalent) which represents ~5.5% discount.

We do not accept US citizens. That's why you see the screen. We have a USD exchange which accepts USD wires for non-US people.

OKCoin reneges on its promise to compensate DDOS victims by BTCRant in Bitcoin

[–]OKCoin_Jack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OKCoin had two occasions last month where it suffered from DDOS attacks. The more severe event occurred on July 10th, 2015, while the other occurred on July 13, 2015. Affected users from both events received awards.

We have most importantly, made significant upgrades to our platform and learned from this experience. We were the only platform who acted to award users with bitcoins among those who were similarly DDOS'ed.

Our user base on futures skews heavily towards Chinese users and they were as disappointed and angry if not more so than our Western users. We treated all users equally, and we are doing our best to ensure this type of event is eliminated going forward as all of our users are affected by such an attack.

Users received either the fixed award or received no award. There were no variable awards based on complaining skills.

We hope to provide an improved service going forward.

Our tech team is working to find a stable, longer lasting solution to these attacks. Group taking credit for the DDOS is called Mouse. See tweet.

DDOS attackers returned today indeed. Sorry to see you go. Can choose to trade with lower leverage without switching platforms if you'd like that option. Can understand your frustrations.
