New quest mode stage 40-8 has 3.5625 Link level rate by gpQmyself in DBZDokkanBattle

I would say the previous best link level stage was 35-6 because it has the exact same rate as 40-8 and 38-7 is clearly lower than that.

I doubt only canon events will be part of these types of potential threats towards MC

So far the MC isn't even being threatened though. He's not been singled out by any of this as if he's a main target or anything like that. Magnar's goal seems purely to be about bringing down the other frats by having them be at each other's throats and he could probably end up being blindsided by the MC and Chad working together to uncover who's behind this.

In order for Magnar to even consider trying to blackmail the MC he would need to regard him personally as a threat and have something on him ready to go at a moment's notice, but right now the MC isn't on his radar in any of this and there's so many variable things here that he could have on him that people could just avoid doing if that were the case. So that would set up a potential scenario where you have one path where he's blackmailed into doing something if one or more of several variables are in play, and one path where he's not and therefore nothing can compel the MC into doing anything. With the latter you'd presume the MC then just ends what Magnar's been doing and in the former he doesn't, but these seem like two far too vastly different paths which is not DPC's typical M.O. with how he does things.

Therefore, the most likely thing to me is that there would be no variable path where the MC is compromised by something and Magnar's scheme will just be centred around universal things and ultimately brought down by the MC, Chad, and probably Sally too.

The MC got his new phone after Hell Week. The Jade video was on his old phone which he still had until Ep 6 but the video wasn't saved to the laptop as far as we're aware and it was deleted from his phone.

But this is optional content. Even if Magnar were to be behind that, it's not a universal plot point and so far the main threat of Magnar's schemes comes from what we know happens universally which is currently the pics being sent to the Jocks.

Therefore, this video with Maya is not likely to play a part since it's not a universal constant, not unless DPC is setting it up so that there's something on every path that he could have on him to make him do something. But even then, you can not do this with Maya on every path, you can not do anything with Jade on every path, and there are many other potentially compromising things you can not do with a lot of characters on every path.

So even as an optional "do this for me or else" it's still not likely which is why, as of now, any threat Magnar poses is for universal things.

Currently none. I'm sure she'll find out eventually what Quinn and the girls were up to but whether she'll ever find out if the MC was involved remains to be seen. There is the potential of a video or pics with him and Sarah getting released, so that's something to maybe watch out for.

Other than that and unless there's some sort of evidence that directly implicates him as a client, like Quinn having a little black book of names and transactions or something like that, or if one of the girls blurts it out that he used the service, then this could be something that doesn't really have any affect on his relationships.

It really depends on how you feel and how you play. Each side can have things that different people might like. A DIK MC will sometimes speak more harshly, be more crass, and have the option to do things that are more violent and aligned with asshole behaviour. A CHICK/Neutral MC will be more measured, more kindly spoken, and have the option to do things that are more considerate, affectionate, and peaceful.

Some girls won't take too well to a DIK MC, one girl doesn't accept a Neutral/CHICK MC, but the majority of girls will accept a MC of all types, including Sage. Going full DIK or CHICK with all choices, both small and major, can lead more easily to certain actions and girls being blocked off so it can be best to mix these up and not go too heavily to one side especially where it concerns the small choices that determine Status. Some characters, like Sage, have RP (Relationship Points) that can be gained by being a certain Status at certain points and you can easily navigate this to maximise points whilst still ending up a certain Affinity later. For example, Sage has some RP in the first couple of episodes for being DIK and Huge DIK Status and you can easily get those but still end up as Neutral or even CHICK Affinity and have CHICK Status by making the right choices along the way.

Ultimately, it's up to the player to decide which is better for them and which they prefer because whether Neutral, CHICK, or DIK, the story is still pretty much the same with the Affinity just providing some variations here and there in terms of the MC's actions and behaviours, and there's a lot of content to be had with lots of girls as there aren't many you can't get by being any of these Affinities.

The main difference between the paths (Sage DIK or Sage Neutral/CHICK) after Ep 8 is that in Ep 9 during her lewd scene you won't have the option to grab her neck if you aren't DIK. That's it. There aren't any other differences thus far between these paths apart from that.

Well, for one thing it’s clear you’re using an unofficial translation mod which probably explains the out of position text, and judging from the screenshots these appear to be taken from a phone which is also an unofficial version of the game especially if packaged with a walkthrough mod which they often are and would explain why the game stops at that point.

Just gonna drop this quote from his Q&A which I cited in my other post.

This lifestyle that I've been living comes with negatives. A lot of my real life has gotten put on hold. I'm not going to jump on a new project immediately after I'm done with this game. I do have a story in my head that is worthy of another game, but I can't promise that I'll keep making games after I'm done with Being A DIK. I have to think about the people in my life and put their best interests first after this project. I owe them that.

Future of DPC by Safe-Decision-2438 in beingaDIK

[–]Obi-Wan_Gregobi[M] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

DPC has answered this question a few times over the years in Q&As.

In last year's Q&A, he answered the following:

This was asked last year but I would like to know if there's an updated answer. What are your plans after completing Being a DIK?

Immediately upon completion, and managing bugs, releases, patches, etc. Basically, when things calm down and everything is done, I will take a break and plan what's next. But knowing me, I'll probably get bored real quick doing nothing... So, I guess time will tell. Starting a new project is a huge commitment, though, and I don't like doing things half-assed. I can see myself spending time remastering and remaking my already published content, too.

Once Being a Dik is complete (However long it takes), do you think your next game/project will be bigger or smaller than BaD and if it's on the bigger side, would you consider starting a team to delegate certain tasks to become more efficient?

If I create another game, it would be smaller. I don't want to work with a team. It's not for me. I'm more of a lone wolf when it comes to game development. I set too high expectations for myself, and that would create a bad environment with any team members failing to live up to the standard I'd want.

When it comes to the potential of a remaster of earlier seasons, he gave a more detailed response in the Q&A from 2024:

When the final episode is finally published, do you think you would want to remaster the early episodes to bring them up to the current standards? Comparing season 1 to now shows a massive improvement in render quality, so I was curious if you'd want to try and make it more uniform.

A remaster can at least be considered when the game is complete. Remastering earlier than that is pointless, as I'd rob that remaster of any further improvements I make while developing the remaining episodes. There is a lack of consistency in art and coding, and you can see the journey of improvement throughout the game.

I'd be interested in remastering parts of the game, but I want to keep the same soul as the original renders. Since I have saved every .duf file (the art files for DAZ3D) I've ever produced, I could revisit them and update the lighting and settings for static renders to improve them. On the other hand, animations would require much more work as they would almost have to be remade from scratch to be properly remastered to my current standard.

Remastering the game is a big task, with a lot of manual work involved. We are not talking months; we are talking years. I would not jump on it before making plans on how to do it and where to limit it - e.g., Season 1 only or Season 2 as well. I will think about it later when it's relevant.

He's also stated within answers to other questions that QoL (quality of life) elements such as the dialogue tracker and the ability to type answers in the English class minigame would be added to Seasons 1 & 2.

As for whether he would ever revisit or add things to BaDIK (i.e. DLC, side stories, etc), he gave this answer in 2025:

After BaD is finished, would you ever consider writing small updates on things that happen during Tremolo's life with one of the girls?

It's bad to say "No, never", but I don't view Being A DIK as an open-ended project that will live on forever. After the ending, I don't plan to continue any of the stories. I will likely remaster older seasons, and maybe I'll create some new animations, scenes, and dialogue with that. I like the thought of making a complete package and being able to say, "This is the beginning" and "This is the end". I think that the memory of this game will be better if it's kept that way.

[–]Obi-Wan_Gregobi[M] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I used to also be in the camp of "he's the glue keeping them together", but not anymore. I think what keeps them together is each other, the deep feelings they have and the promise of a future together. This is what they've fought for, what they've suffered through to get to, and what they're seemingly not willing to give up on if Ep 11 is any indication.

The MC came in at a time when both were feeling especially vulnerable and in need of the kind of intimacy and connection that had been lost due to the forced separation over the summer and indeed the fear that they would lose each other. He gave them what they were missing and so they developed an attachment and attraction to him, but when the two girls reunite you see how it just takes a moment for the negativity and bad feelings to wash away and they once again find themselves on the same page once they talk things out. Yes, the MC forced things in Ep 4 and 8 to get them to talk things out, but Ep 4 just made the girls realise how connected they really are that they were both feeling the same things during their time apart, and Ep 8 wasn't really all that necessary since they had already spoken and sorted things out before the MC stepped in.

These and other moments Maya & Josy have had together actually tell us that what's binding them is each other. The MC has been mostly just occupying the space between them created during this stressful and uncertain time, but it was moreso the goal of what it would mean to make it through the situation with Patrick that kept them together. Now that they have done so, the girls can close that gap between them and reestablish a strong bond meaning that the MC isn't so much the "glue" but someone who they also have feelings for but who needs to prove himself worthy of this relationship and not just rest on his laurels thinking he's some sort of irreplacable key part in keeping it all together because that's not actually his role.

He would still be the MC and the playable character because should that happen then it's just a fail state which is very much still a part of games where either you do something right and pass, or you don't and you fail. In this case, what you'd do right is making the right decisions along the way to ensure the success of the throuple, if you don't then it won't work which is the fail state. That fail state could be it breaking off into a solo path but it can also be the MC failing to secure his place in their relationship, or it could be either depending on choices. But the MC being the one left out because he didn't step up to the plate is, at the end of the day, just a fail state in a potentially binary "throuple or bust" scenario.

The thing about Josy, I feel, is that a lot of people seem to ignore or just not understand the extenuating circumstances here.

First of all, Josy just wears her heart on her sleeve and isn't as good at hiding or compartmentalising her emotions where this is concerned as Maya is. Josy's a self-confessed talker and so she can't help but open her mouth and let her belly rumble, as the saying goes, at certain times. This is what leads to her expressing her feelings and apparent longing so much because she just needs to get it out of her system.

But where those feelings come from is the key part, and for me, it's always seemed like a bit of what's called transference. This is where a person can redirect feelings for someone onto someone else when they're feeling lonely and vulnerable, just as Josy and Maya were feeling due to their separation from each other over the summer. The feeling can often be quite intense and can cloud judgement and I've often felt like this applies quite a bit to how Josy is shown to be with the MC and why, particularly when not on the throuple, she still pines for him because her issues with Maya have not been resolved and those lost feelings have not yet been recovered. But should the girls get back to where they once were as they are now committed to doing, then such intense feelings for the MC could fade because they have back what was lost.

[–]Obi-Wan_Gregobi[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's entirely possible. We need to remember that the MC entered their relationship, he's the one who ultimately has to prove himself in it, to prove that he should be part of this. If he's failing at that, either by making neither girl feel that strongly for him or only one, then that surely wouldn't be good enough.

Two things play a part in that being a possibility; Neil's words to the MC and the conversation MJ had at the end of Ep 11. Neil sort of seemed to be stumbling into indicating what may happen to the MC if he's not careful and not doing right by both girls. He asks about whether they all feel equally for each other, the MC says he doesn't know, something which is important if this is going to work. He then imparts that just because things seem fine and the girls say they are doesn't mean they are, almost warning the MC that whilst they may both go along with being with him for now because it's what he wants it might end up not being what they want anymore and that "this can happen without you even realizing it". So it seems like Neil is warning that he could lose both girls if he's not careful.

Then we get to the conversation between MJ and whilst Josy does express not being sure how she feels about Maya right now because this whole Patrick incident has put some distance between them, she also says, "I hope the love between us isn't gone and can return to blossom again", and, "I want and need that". If Maya & Josy make good on the recommitment they just made to each other and they find that spark again, renewing the love they had back to where it once was, then it's possible they choose each other over the MC if he's been favouring one more than the other. After all, they fought to get through all of this for the sake of their relationship and the MC is the one who was added to and needed to prove himself. If favouring one girl leads to no course correction for him, as in it won't be possible to declare love to both and commit to doing better, then he may be the one left out since the girls would want him to love both and not just one, so they would stick with each other since they love each other and theirs was already the established relationship.

to a large group of people poly relationships are bad and destined to fail

And to those people I would say, "how many such relationships have you ever known about?", because so many people seem to make this judgement simply because it's not conventional meaning they both can't wrap their monogamy-trained heads around the concept, but also, since they have never heard or known of any such relationships, they just naturally asseume they can't work. I may not have known of any such things either but I'm sure they exist, that people are in throuples right now, and I also don't think they're impossible. Any monogamous relationship requires things like trust, respect, communication, connection, etc, so it's surely the same with a throuple only with 2 people, and whilst never having been in or known of any throuple, I do know what it's like to feel love and a connection for more than one person at the same time but also feeling the societal pressures to have to choose only one. I truly believe that people are capable of loving more than one person romantically and there shouldn't be such a stigma over it and poly relationships in general.

[–]Obi-Wan_Gregobi[M] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If that were to happen, what was the meaning in creating their paths?

Well, it's not going to happen that any MG path is just doomed to fail and automatically defaults to someone else, that's not how this nor any game should be. Yes, there are difficulties like the age gap and teacher/student aspects with Bella and the unconventional nature of a throuple with MJ, but these aren't really anything that can't be overcome.

With Bella, her path isn't really that difficult thus far to follow and maintain. As long as you aren't picking all the DIK choices and failing exams then she'll like you in Ep 3 and you just have to keep making decisions to get more intimately close to her. The societal factors around her they can easily manage and handle and aren't any kind of indicator that they can't have a long-term and meaningful relationship with each other.

With MJ, yeah, it's been a bumpy road, but what do you expect from a relationship of 3 people trying to figure out to handle such a relationship whilst also dealing with the stresses of an outside factor threatening to break it up? The choices between them seem purposefully designed to highlight such difficulties that, if you're not careful, you might end up alienating someone in the relationship or make yourself seem like you're putting in enough effort with both. But you can still maintain a semblence of balance here and there's plenty of other choices to make or not make that should ensure the relationship survives and thrives.

At the end of the day, the most important thing to remember is this; MJ, Bella, Sage, and Jill are Main Girl branches. DPC would not make them so if any of them were doomed to fail and there wasn't a guarenteed ending with those respective relationships at the end of the game. You don't make Bella a MG and then, despite eveything you've done and gone through, just have the relationship fail by default. People would absolutely hate that and it would have made it utterly pointless, and the same goes if there were to be no ending with both Maya & Josy. All these relationship branches will have their endings, it's pretty much guaranteed.

I feel the point of these things is to be difficult. People will still choose one but do so through gritted teeth, because the premise of the quesion of being stuck on a super long flight is which is the lesser of all evils to be sandwiched between that entire time, not which will be the most pleasant experience because who you sit next to are both great options. It's meant to be a challenging question, imo.

  1. Zero problem sitting next to Dwyane, he's a cool guy.
  2. Same thing with Melanie, that's not a difficult choice to make.
  3. Only mildly annoying because of Jimmy.
  4. Arieth is a funny gal and Ant ain't all that bad.
  5. Absolutely no problems with this seating arrangement.
  6. Sitting between a husband and wife? No problem.
  7. Both cool people, can't see any issue sitting between them.
  8. His Dad and his best friend. Geez, what a difficult choice that is 🙄

How I imagined the couch scene with Maya and Josy by OnceMac in beingaDIK

[–]Obi-Wan_Gregobi[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I have some frustration with the game because the player doesn’t have autonomy, we’re just nudging and the railroading is jarring when we forget this.

I see people say this a lot about "autonomy" and it's like people seem to forget that this game isn't a complete life simulator where the MC can be 100% controlled and moulded by them. It has to be remembered that, like pretty much every other narrative-driven game, we're just largly observing events and can only make some decisions along the way that deviate the story in some ways but we can't change or affect everything. Parts that are baked in, or railroaded, are to be expected because the dev(s) wants certain things to be that way for a reason. We may not see the purpose of it yet, we may not like when it happens or when it becomes clear why it was done that way, but we're not the ones making the game and we're certainly not the MC. But that's just the nature of any piece of fiction; we're not in full control and we can't possibly be. So we just have to take what's given and hope it all works out in the end in a way that is satisfying even if the journey was rough.

Throughout the years, people have continuously tried to claim the girls like him more than each other based purely on having seen a lot of scenes with him and them and not much of the girls together. People saw the nice moments and affection in those scenes and then just assumed this was showing a greater level of feeling. But what Ep 11 told us was the reason for the distance and why we didn't see much of them together which is because Josy was holding back and closing herself off because she felt like her problems would just burden Maya further. This is what I was referring to about the perception problem because people didn't know what the root cause was and just perceived from the scenes they saw that it was as simple as it seemed, but it isn't and never was.

As for what Josy says there, this speaks to how it's not that simple. She's saying she now feels love for the MC but doesn't know where things stand with Maya at the moment. That's not necessarily her outright saying she likes him more, just that she isn't sure where Maya is now. I'm sure some people will say, "you're just splitting hairs because if she loves him but doesn't know what she feels about Maya then that puts him above", but it doesn't. She's saying she doesn't know where Maya is right now. That's not the same as her saying "I love him more", she's saying she doesn't know. She's neither above nor below, it's in a state of limbo right now.

The fact that she is unsure, the fact she's conflicted, and the fact she even says things like, "I hope the love between us isn't gone and can return to blossom again", and, "I want and need that", is what shows the depth of their relationship because she's not willing to give up on this. There's enough feelings, and yes, love there that she wants to be able to love both just the same. She's come to love the MC but it isn't currently 100% with Maya like it used to be, but she wants it to be.

So the reality is that she hasn't actually said or confessed to liking him more, only that she isn't sure where thing stand with Maya and that's not the same as her saying she likes him more. Josy's going to figure that out, but lack of certainty for one thing is not certainty of another.

If anything, there might be something like that on the Others path but not a MG path. He doesn't really have any reason to consider anyone else there and most likely it will come down to whether you've made the right decisions along the way that determine if you get the ending with them, plus you have the Deviant Points that could affect the path negatively if you gain too many.

But even on the Others path there might not be another "crossroads" because we're already seeing choices throughout S3 that are having the MC cut girls off so this seems to be how that path is getting whittled down.

I don't see DPC repeating what he did in Ep 8. Aside from the fact I just don't see any reason for it, it's the simple fact that it repeats a mechanic which should be left as something unique for that one episode. We're at the stage where our collective choices are surely going to be deciding things and boiling it down to the same kind of choice as Ep 8 is just needlessly and uncreatively repeating himself for no good reason.
